~Simplicity, ducks, chickens, gardens, fresh organic food, friendly people, permaculture, snack store and so much more. Our charm is in spending time on the land and with the people, learning of the lands hospitality and its infinite potential to connect us with nature and like-minded folks. Thoughtful conversations, long-lasting friendships, joining a work party, sharing meals, sing and dance, make art, wash your clothes on a bicycle-powered washing machine, meditate, practice yoga, contemplate, jump on a trampoline in the middle of a meadow while watching a sunset surrounded by daisies, perhaps enjoy a sauna and an outdoor shower, and a whole lot more =)
Arrange a resident-staff-lead tour or service! EX: walkabouts of the staff community and vision, permaculture, wild flowers, birds and plants, appropriate technologies and more! Inquire for availability.
One or more of the below activities may be going on during your visit (weekends get quiet as community members tend to take off and scatter).
*Look at the happenings calendar, it will be helpful to determine what's going on. Many things are last minute as people with similar interests just get together:
Activities hosted by residents like: yoga, meditation, project work parties, weekend wood-fired sauna (usually Friday or Saturday), music, movies or dancing, workshops and classes, ecstatic dances (a big one w/ potluck on the 1st Saturday of every month), game nights, resiliency meetups and many more.
~Sociocracy - Inspired learning opportunities. Our Staff-Community Governance (all of our governance meetings are transparent and open to visitors, you can come and observe, ask questions, and give input if desired). Interaction with Guests~ You will be emailed a set of arrival instructions. Please follow those. Email or Text is best for contact with me during your visit.
~ You will not necessarily be greeted by me or given a tour, only if I'm around and have time. You agree to follow signs to check yourself in and out as posted in our Visitor Check-in Office (read the map and shared spaces list before using them, sign a guest book & waivers, and etc...).
~ With 50+ people living on-site, and sometimes more, there is a high potential for encountering other folks. However, there is always somewhere not far for alone-time.
~Everyone here is used to visitors and we are glad to share our home but do not necessarily expect people to approach you.
Be upfront & honest about your desires for privacy or interaction.
Be understanding and courteous of the desires of others as well, and you should find opportunities for whatever you are looking for. The NeighborhoodThis rural neighborhood has sprawling trees, foothills, farm land and animals. Our community has a unique feel. It is quiet yet bustling with life during every season, but especially spring. Colors are HD especially at sunset, and on misty mornings when it hangs in the air mid-tree level - it truly is what fairy tales are made of. Getting AroundDriving, we are located only 25 minutes from the heart of Eugene and the University of Oregon, bus transport is available w/ a beautiful 2.5 mile walk or resident provided ride to Lost Valley.
After booking we can give you proper directions for where you're coming from, otherwise it takes up too much space to include the directions from all directions. GPS gets you here perfectly, there are bus options with a walk as well. Other Things to Note*Bringing small change cash is very helpful
*Lost Valley Store: the fun snacks (all organic) like coffee, crackers, chips & sodas, also resident art & homemade herbal medicines/tinctures!
*Nudity is allowed in certain areas
*Currently there are no screens on the windows, so flying bugs get in, this can be annoying but not a deal breaker for most. They should be up by August
*Light sleepers beware, this listing may not be for you. Better to camp or visit for a day-trip only. We are pretty quite as are most of the people that come through, however, the walls are thin and not sound proof. Not a deal breaker for most, but be prepared with ear plugs.
*Doors only lock from the inside, please leave valuables like excessive cash and such in your car or with you. However, we have never had an issue with this - it's just a note so you are aware.
If this room is full, please check our other listings at this same location which can be found by clicking on our profile.
