The SpaceThe house is generously more modern than most homes you will find in the town, but that doesn't mean it's lacking in Lao aesthetic. You will see many touches of Laos in the architecture and decor throughout the property. The house features great art, handicrafts, and photography from around Southeast Asia (Laos, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines), as well some modern graphic design from the United States.
All three bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms, two sets of towels and drying racks, clean bedding, air-conditioning, fans, wardrobes with hangers and drawers, and extra seating.
The kitchen has most tools you would need to spend a night in cooking. There are even oils, sauces, and spices available to our guests. There are 8 sets of plates (large and small), bowls, cups, utensils, and place mats, so everyone has a full setting for the dining room table. Guest AccessThe house is three stories, and guests will have access to the first and second floors. Interaction with GuestsGenerally, the house will only be rented while the owner is out of town. However, we have staff that will be available for questions and recommendations. The owner will generally be accessible through electronic communication, of course. The NeighborhoodThe house is situated on a quiet, residential street with no guesthouses or hotels. There's a fresh vegetable seller at the top of the street, and several fried rice and noodle shops close by. Getting AroundOur trusted tuk-tuk driver will pick you up from airport or either bus station for no extra charge. After he drops you off at our house, he may also be available for hire if you'd like him to take you around town or to one of the waterfalls. Alternatively, it is easy to hail another tuk-tuk nearby the house.
However, Luang Prabang is a very walkable town, and if the weather is good, there's no better way of getting around. It takes less than 10 minutes to arrive at the main intersection in town (the start of the Night Market each evening) by foot.
It's also possible to rent bicycles or motorbikes, which can be stored at night inside of the house's mudroom, off the driveway. The small room can fit one motorbike and up to three bicycles. Other Things to NoteThe house has some great safety features. There are spotlights on the trellis in front of the house that go on automatically in the evening, and off in the morning. There are also three floodlights with motion detectors that are activated in the evening. Lastly, there are five CCTV cameras that record the outside perimeter of the house 24 hours per day.
