A ferry services Long Island (a 5 minute ride) from East Ferry which is 35 miles from Digby, N.S.- at the end of the Digby Neck. Ferry service runs on the half-hour 24 hours/day. It is then just a 15 minute ride to Freeport. Coming from the U.S. to Nova Scotia Canada:There is a ferry from Portland, Maine to Yarmouth, NS. Freeport is about a 1.5 hour drive from Yarmouth.There is also about a 3 hour ferry crossing from St. John, New Brunswick to Digby NS, if you prefer to drive up the coast of Maine. Air travel is generally into Halifax, which is about 3 hrs. from Freeport.
