Sipping cocktails on the deck, washing up, cooking, even sleeping, the view is of the ocean, and it's sounds - gentle waves lapping against the sea wall.

We had been visiting Port Vila, the capital of Vanuatu, over a 20 year period and enjoyed it immensely for the first 15 years. Then it became commercialised and overcrowded so we decided to visit Santo.
When Vanuatu is mentioned, people say they have been there, but on inquiring they think that Vanuatu is only Port Vila, they have never heard of Santo, I only knew of Santo because of it being so famous for it's cattle and therefore the best steak in the world, so when my husband suggested we go there I was a little hesitant. OMG, it is beautiful, lush, laid back and so serene.
Okay, it doesn't have tall buildings and crowds of people and there is potholes in the footpaths but it has magnificent blue water holes, it has amazing white sandy beaches and protected turquoise waters, it has the best scuba diving in the world, fishing is great and there is an abundance of colourful fish and coral to snorkel.
The local Ni-Vanuatu have been voted the happiest nation in the world many times, and they are.
Santo is a great holiday destination for singles, couples, families and honeymooners alike.
See you there. Getting AroundThere is an abundance of very small taxi's, taxi trucks & buses and for a small amount you can negotiate with them to take you around the island. However because your accommodation is 11 kms from the town, it is a good idea to hire a small car or if you want to go on out of the way destinations a 4 WD would be recommended. Having 5 acres parking is not a problem, however not under cover. The best place to hire a small car is Espiritu Car Hire, for a small charge they will take the car to the airport for your arrival.
