The Lummi Island Heritage Trust has three nature preserves. Each area features hiking and walking trails that are open to the public during daytime hours. While leashed dogs may be walked in the Curry and Otto Preserves, no bicycles are allowed in any of the locations.
The Heritage Trust is a non-profit organization dedicated to conserving the islands forests, farmland, open spaces, and undeveloped shorelines, and we encourage all guests to visit their resource center at the Otto Preserve to learn about the vicinity and the trust's work.

In Kundalini yoga, we use specific sequences of postures/movements, breath and mantra (called kriyas) that when done together create a particular beneficial effect in the body.
These sets help balance the glandular system and strengthen the nervous system as well as stretch and strengthen muscles and ligaments. Other benefits of a practice can include an improvement in immunity and energy levels; stress reduction; and more balance and clarity for the mind.
I have been a student of yoga for 15+ years. Traditions I’ve studied include Hatha, Kundalini, Anusara and Viniyoga. I was first introduced to Kundalini yoga in 2002. Interested in learning more about how this form of yoga worked, I completed the 220 hour Level 1 Kundalini yoga Teacher Training Program at YogaWest in Vancouver, B.C. and received my teaching certification in 2011. I’ve finished one (Mind & Meditation) of five modules towards Level 2 certification. My practice is also influenced by studying w/ teachers from other traditions, mainly Rod Stryker (Hatha) and Tias Little (Iyengar & Hatha). I have a background in biology & ecology and love to share the science behind yoga while not losing touch with its more mystical qualities.
Claudia Getting AroundYou'll need to take the ferry from Gooseberry Point near Bellingham to get to the island. It is cash only.
The ferry runs from the island on the hour and from the mainland at 10 minutes after the hour. It only takes 10 minutes to make the crossing, but you may have to wait for a couple of ferries. Friday and Sunday afternoons are especially busy!! The ferry will run back and forth continuously, but you may have to wait for several ferries. (URL HIDDEN)
The ferry only takes cash. The round-trip fare is $13 for car & driver, $7 for pedestrians/passengers. (URL HIDDEN) Other Things to NoteIf you hear a very loud siren coming from the fire station up the road, it is either a test or calling the volunteer firemen to a local emergency. No need to worry.
The ferry requires cash. Be sure to check the ferry schedule and costs - see 'Getting Around'.
There are few streetlights on the island; which is great for watching the stars, but can make it challenging to find places at night. If you haven't been there before, consider arriving during daylight if possible.
