The Space-Spacious guest room has distinct bed, living, and kitchenette areas. -Private balcony and keyed entrance. -Full bath upstairs. We have a master suite downstairs so the full bath upstairs is practically a "private bath" for the guest room. -The room gets great light throughout the day owing to a northwesterly facing balcony door and southeasterly facing window. -Some people may find the stairs leading up to the guest balcony to be narrow, please be careful. Guests are welcomed to access their room through the main house. Guest Access-Guest room, upstairs bath, front and back porches. Arrangements can be made for use of kitchen downstairs. -Arrangements also can be made if guest(s) want to interact with our horses. -Washer/dryer available for guests staying at least 3 nights. (but please be mindful of the environment and the wear/tear on our appliances by not washing more than 2 loads) -Morris has taken over the guest room closet. But, there is plenty of drawer space to use! Interaction with Guests-We are friendly and helpful but are respectful of our guests' space. We are both from the Boston/MA area; even though we opted for a 'quieter' rural environment, we enjoy interacting with guests from all areas and walks of life. We are happy to give pointers to area amenities like restaurants or hiking/skiing. -Morris is sometimes away on business but when she's home on weekends she offers to make omelettes or pancakes from farm-fresh eggs laid just hours before. -Breakfast items and snacks are in the guest room kitchenette and may include any of: milk, cereal, bread, butter, English muffins, fruit spread, fruits, eggs, or pastries. Please let us know if you have specific preferences or allergies, we are happy to accommodate. The Neighborhood-We are in a quiet rural location, surrounded by sprawling pastures and forest. The house has one of the best views of New England's tallest peak, Mount Washington, in the area. The mountain forms a majestic backdrop against a carpet of lush green (during summer) and jewel colors (in the fall). It is particularly breathtaking in the winter and spring when the snowy caps glow orange-pink during sunset on a clear day. -Nearby hiking/snowmobile (VAST) trail system. -Driving distance to dining, groceries, nearby skiing and recreation. Lancaster 10-12 minutes, Littleton 25 minutes, St. Johnsbury 25 minutes. Getting AroundWe are in a rural location, there is no nearby public transportation. Car or vehicle is a must! Other Things to NotePets: -We have a Husky-Malamute named Copernicus, six chinchillas, and four chickens (including one rooster). -Copernicus is not aggressive but young and playful. He barks at strangers at first, and we keep him away from the guests and house unless the guests are comfortable around him. -The rooster Roomeo (combination of "rooster" and "Romeo" for the way he romances with "the ladies") starts crowing early (for the full "farm experience"). -Our chinchillas are nocturnal animals, but we keep their room door closed (All doors in the house are solid-core-- versus hollow-core-- which helps to sound-proof the rooms). TV/Cable: Although we do not have cable television, we and our guests have found adequate media entertainment from the Internet. Other Source of Entertainment: -Our neighbor up the road is a professional horse trainer and gives lessons/trail rides. Let us know if this is something you may be interested in and we'll contact or put you in touch with her. About Morris: -Morris has a home office and often works late into the evening. The office is also upstairs and she tries to be quiet entering/leaving it when guests are around. Water: -The house is equipped with a water softener so the water may feel more 'slippery' owing to the minimal amount of dissolved minerals. Water is safe to drink from any faucet because we have a whole-house filter.
