The SpaceTwo bedrooms, facing south, look out on gardens and woods. Each is very large, accommodates two-three people and has sitting and desk area. If only one bedroom is rented, other will be kept vacant. Adjoining area offers the convenience of having a full refrigerator, microwave. electric appliances, dishes etc.. There are children's toys, games and sports equipment available for young guests. A cat is in residence but only on the first floor. She is very shy and guests are unlikely to see her. Guest AccessWhile guests will have total privacy with exclusive use of entire 2nd floor, they are also welcome to watch TV in the Family Room, use the stove in the kitchen or enjoy other spaces downstairs, including a spacious deck. They may leave dishes to be put through the dishwasher. Interaction with GuestsInteraction with guests will depend on their wishes and interests and my time; I am often at home and enjoy talking to people. The NeighborhoodLyme is a beautiful area with many places to enjoy nature: walks in one of the many Preserves, bicycling on rural roads, fishing on lakes or streams, kayaking on Hamburg Cove, swimming in a nearby Swimming Hole or a pristine lake in our State Forest or just sitting on our deck watching birds and enjoying the sun. Although the house is on a paved road, only a 1/2 mile off a state road, it is quiet and peaceful. Another house with a big red barn is the only property in sight and bedrooms are on the back of the house and especially quiet. For other entertainment: Going south on Route 156, it is 7 miles to Old Lyme with a beautiful Main Street and the Florence Griswold Art Museum where one can enjoy the art, gardens and beautiful property on which, in October, artists create enchanting Fairy Houses. One can get on Interstate 95 west that easily takes one to interesting Shoreline towns including Old Saybrook and Essex with colonial history and now many restaurants and shops. Going east on I 95 leads to Mystic with its Seaport and Aquarium and to Casinos. Going north on Route 156 leads to East Haddam, a picturesque town on the Connecticut River with the renown Goodspeed Theater that produces musical theater, usually to rave reviews. In that town but only 2 miles from the house is a highly rated golf course. Getting AroundOn-site parking. No public transportation. Airports in Hartford, CT and Providence, RI about an hour away, by car. Amtrak trains stop in Old Saybrook, 20 minutes away, where there is taxi service. Other Things to NoteRe: pets: I love dogs but need be assured by guests who want to bring one that it will be well-behaved. I do have a cat and she would be very upset and noisy if another cat was in the house, so no cats welcome. The house has a generator that starts whenever power goes out and maintains power for everything in the house.
