The SpaceGraciously appointed "Artist's Studio" bedroom available in historic, restored, three-story home built in 1840. Comfortably sleeps two. Guest AccessGuest(s) will have access to the common living spaces in the house, including the library reading room, the living room and dining room. Limited use of the kitchen is available upon request. Also optionally available is access to the backyard garden for guests interested in making a fresh organic salad. There is a nominal additional fee for those who would like to harvest from the garden. Interaction with GuestsMost of the time I will be present at the house during your stay. However, with its three floors and six bedrooms, you may not even notice I am home!

If you don't know the area, I can help you source the freshest local seafood, provide produce from my garden and enlist the services of a master baker friend to create a delicious and memorable meal. Message me for more details. The NeighborhoodThe house is situated along the bank of the Machias River, which flows into the tidal bay around which Machias was settled. Within one block is Bad Little Falls Park, which features an walking bridge and overlook of the waterfall; the historic Grange, fully restored as a community building by the Beehive Collective; and the University of Maine at Machias, a full four year branch campus of the University of Maine College system. There is also a wonderful wine and cheese shop, just across the river as well as a natural food market. Getting AroundMachias is a central location from which to depart on day trips to all parts of Downeast Maine, including the Schoodic Peninsula, the Bold Cost trail system in Cutler, the historic city of Eastport, Lubec's West Quoddy Head lighthouse and Jonesport-Beals Island.
