Sakinaw Lake has seen human activity for a very long time. Evidence of the time on the lake of First Nations peoples belonging to the Sechelt Nation is still visible in the form of symbolic pictographs at the south end of the lake. The original Lodge was certainly the first recreational property on the lake as it opened in the early 1900s. At this wonderful glamping site, we are very aware of our impact on this area hosting many threatened species, including the Painted Turtle and the Sakinaw Sockeye salmon.

The SpaceDiscover this contemporary and unique vacation house offering stunning ocean views of Pender Harbour in the Sunshine Coast of BC. Just 2 hours drive from Vancouver. This is a modern and exclusive accommodation perched at the high end of a steep site. The house takes the idea of luxury camping to a uniquely refined interior space designed to let the outdoors fulfill the space and your senses. There’s no stress out here, only the sense we belong to nature. The unique natural setting is the protagonist: The modern cottage uses large spans of glass, including large exterior folding doors in the social areas and sliding patio doors in all bedrooms and bathroom for a magnificent view of the tree tops and harbour below. The extensive deck along the top floor, the planted roof top and deck -perfect for sunbathing- or the landscaped area in the ground floor will let you experience nature in a secluded and intimate way. This house is perched between the ocean and three lakes within easy walking distance. Nearby beaches, several parks with great hikes and a golf course are within a short drive. Hotel Lake is just 500 meters away. A 1,200 meters walk will bring you to the waterfront at Hospital Bay and Pender Habour Marina and a 1,400 meter walk will take you to the outstations for the Royal Vancouver and Seattle Yacht Clubs, local restaurants, the Village Pub, the Garden Bay Post Office and the John Henry's general store. The nearby town of Madeira Park has a shopping center which includes a full-size grocery store with deli, pharmacy, credit union, restaurants, liquor store, hardware store, and other facilities. The SpaceOur log style cabin on very secluded waterfront generates an off grid experience. If the idea of spring fed water, inverters, battery banks, generators, propane fridge and an outhouse doesn't put you off, chances are you will love our retreat. You don't go there to watch tv, or shop neighbourhood stores, as neither are there. Instead you enjoy seaside and forest outdoors, water sports, fishing etc. or even sitting in the sun, on the beach, or the floating dock. Guest AccessThe entire 1200 sqft cabin is yours, as wel as the beach, dock and forest around it. It sleeps 5 people in 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom: fully equipped kitchen, BBQ on the deck. We can accommodate up-to 10 people, by expanding into our "Boathouse": extra charges over 5 people. You can either organize a water taxi at the Government Wharf of the nearest port in Saltery Bay, BC or bring your own boat, or floatplane for that matter. Interaction with GuestsWe rendez-vous to handover a key, or I take you up, set you up and leave you in peace. The NeighborhoodYou overlook Blind Bay in west, northwesterly direction, meaning you'll see the sun setting over Texada and Vancouver Island. You will see very few signs of civilization, other than boats going by in the morning and evening to anchor in well documented anchorages in Ballet Bay and near Hardy Island. Getting AroundBring your own boat, or take water taxis around the area. Make sure to have decent charts, as there are reefs everywhere in Blind Bay. Great fishing in and around Blind Bay and nearby Malaspina Straight. The SpaceThis beautiful but rustic and somewhat unfinished cabin is architect designed/built. The main cabin is a large great room featuring a wall of glass and big barn doors that open up to the deck and water view on a hot summer day. Keep the cozy wood stove lit for those wild west coast days (day bed converts to king). A sleeping loft sleeps 2 over the yet to be built kitchen. A sleeping wing is accessed through a closed in breezeway (possible extra room), with 2 bedrooms (1 double, 1 twin).- note the walls i these rooms are not complete. The 2 piece bathroom has hot water at the tap and a working toilet (septic). An outdoor shower overlooks the forest and lawn-for a true nature experience. The property is off the grid and while wired is still without power. There is a propane hot water heater. Currently cooking and dining is done in the outdoor kitchen with a camp stove, BBQ and ice box. Bring your own ice. Water taxis are available from Egmont Bc for $175 each way or from Saltry Bay for $100 each way. Guest AccessYou will have access to the cabin, the property, over 5km of trails on Hardy Island, 2 kids kayaks, 1 double kayak and one paddleboard, 3 adult bikes and 2 child bikes. Interaction with GuestsThe cabin and property is yours to enjoy with respect. We enjoy a friendly relationship with our neighbors and would like to keep it that way. We ask that our guests respect our neighbors' right to the quiet enjoyment of their waterfront homes especially after dusk and in the early morning. The NeighborhoodHardy Island is a magical place with over 5km of roads to hike, bike or run. Small islands protect the bay in front of the cabin and make a fun place for kids and adults to explore by kayak. We are just a short distance (5 mins by boat) from the government dock Saltry Bay where you can keep a car to access groceries Powell River or 30 minutes by boat from Egmont. The boating in the area is spectacular- with access to Blind Bay, Hotham Sound, the Harmony Islands, Jervis Inlet and Princess Louisa Inlet. Getting AroundThis is a boat access property. There is a boat ramp in Hummingbird Cove by Saltry Bay or water taxi from Egmont - High Tide Tours ($175 last I looked) (website hidden) . The property is roughly 5km from Saltry Bay by boat. Water taxis are available from Egmont Bc for $175 each way or from Saltry Bay for $100 each way. Other Things to NoteThe cabin is a work in progress. There are decks without railings so it is perhaps not suitable for people with small children or adults that may stumble. The sleeping loft is likewise without railings and therefore not suitable for children. It is better to think of this experience as glamping (camping under a roof) - it is definitely NOT an all exclusive resort. Cell service is limited with Telus. It is possible to connect but only in specific places on the property. It's a retreat so please don't expect to bring your office.

The Lower Coast, as it is commonly called, is accessible via a 40-minute ferry ride from Vancouver's Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal and is only 4 hours from Seattle, Washington. Whether daytripping from the city or getting away for an extended stay, this mainland coastal paradise on the glimmering Strait of Georgia is one of the most tranquil, beautiful vacation destinations in the province. The Sunshine Coast is made up of several distinct and equally charming communities: Gibsons (including Langdale, Gibsons Landing and Upper Gibsons), Roberts Creek, Davis Bay, Sechelt, Madeira Park and Egmont as well as idyllic destinations such as Halfmoon Bay, Redrooffs, Thormanby Island, Pender Harbour, Earl's Cove, Nelson Island, Westview, Powell River, Cranberry/Wildwood, Lund and Texada and Savary Island. Known for its artistic spirit, the area hosts several cultural events throughout its calendar including the Festival of the Written Arts, the Hackett Park Craft Fair and the Fibre Arts Festival, with numerous other smaller shows and exhibitions made popular thanks to the Coast Cultural Alliance. In fact, a thriving industry of galleries, curiosity shops and antique stores pepper the area, lending to this coastal area's quaintness. Of course, seaside restaurants, bars and bistros also abound, providing romantic ways to enjoy some of the most beautiful sunsets on the West Coast. Naturally, the area is somewhat of a mecca for recreationalists, visitors coming from near and far to enjoy all that the Sunshine Coast has to offer… water sports are extremely popular, from sea kayaking to scuba diving. The biking and hiking trails provide some of the most beautiful wilderness the planet has to offer (take on the Sunshine Coast Trail!) and the fishing rarely disappoints, whether you're a fresh or saltwater expert. Beachcombing is a favourite area pastime, but air and boat tours are available if you want to take your exploring to the next level! North Lake Waterfront Home is a comfortable, newly-furnished home featuring spectacular panoramic lake views both upstairs and down. Wake up to the morning sun breaking through the mist that clings to the water. With its fully equipped kitchen and laundry facilities, you have all the convenience of city dwelling in a secluded natural setting. North Lake Waterfront Home features a large deck situated only steps from the water's edge on North Lake. Walk right in the crystal-clear water from the sandy beach. This beach also happens to be a nesting ground for the endangered Western Painted Turtle - if you're very lucky, you may get to witness some egg-laying or hatching activity. The home boasts 180 degree panoramic lake views from the open plan living room/ eating area downstairs and from the master bedroom upstairs. The master bedroom features a comfortable hand-crafted four-poster bed, while the downstairs bedroom offers two twin beds which can be pushed together to make a King. Curl up to the cozy wood-burning stove and watch a DVD, listen to music or play one of the many board games available. There are 2 private docks with a rowboat, paddle boat and life jackets for guest's use. The grounds are carefully landscaped, displaying dozens of varieties of Rhododendrons and other local indigenous plant species. The Lakeside Cottage is just 100 meters down the driveway from this Vacation Home. Renting both can be the perfect solution for a party of six, offering one couple an extra degree of privacy. North Lake Waterfront Home is located on the North end of the Sunshine Coast of BC, just outside of the village of Egmont and a hop skip and a jump from Vancouver by ferry. Relax and enjoy the 40 minute ferry ride and the scenery of fir and cedar treed islands and majestic coastal mountains. Once you arrive in Gibsons, it is a scenic drive up the coast to our waterfront accommodations. Sit on our sandy beach and soak up the sun in your own private retreat. Or relax with your coffee on the deck while you listen to the call of the loons off in the distance. In the summer, the lake reaches warm temperatures for swimming. In the winter, enjoy a book by the fireplace or try your luck fishing for lake trout. There are no motorized boats on North Lake, so if peace and quiet is what you're looking for then you have come to the right spot! We request that guests respect the tranquility of the setting and adhere to the 11 pm outdoor noise curfew during their stay. Interested in viewing the famous Skookumchuck Rapids? Just continue down Egmont Road to the start of the Skookumchuck Trail- only 5 minutes away. Just a short drive away is the Backeddy Pub and Marina and the sea. Here you can take a cruise on world famous Princess Louisa or try a burger in the pub while you watch the boats come and go. In the evening, barbecue fresh prawns or a salmon caught fresh on the Sunshine Coast. The Ruby Lake Resort, only 10 minutes away, features fine Italian-inspired cuisine.
