The SpaceOn top of the sunny ridge we have 300 degrees view across vinyards and paddocks towards the Tasman Sea or Mt Arthur. The next neighbor is about 1 km away so you can enjoy peace and tranquility in absolute privacy. We are close to Abel Tasman NP or the Motueka River, reknown for it's trout. You can choose between a self contained cottage, a two bedroom flat or guest rooms with shared facilities. We offer B&B and can on request cater in the evenings, too. We have two options available: one is a self contained unit with attached sauna, the other accommodation features 1 large bedroom, bathroom and living room cum kitchen internet access available with your own laptop only free phone access for national calls Interaction with GuestsAs much or as little as you like! :-) Getting AroundNo public transport - you should have a car. We can however pick you up from the next bus stop = the next village, 5 min down the road. We do rent out cars and can - if you intend to stay longer - give you a package deal. We also hire out bikes if you want to explore the area.

The SpaceWe are close to the famous Abel Tasman National Park and the Marlborough Sounds (home of the delicious green lipped mussel) and some boutique wineries are within walking distance too. Our quiet rural location affords the ideal get-away. We provide a self-contained unit as well as two fully furbished rooms. We can also provide light meals on request. Our facilities include spa and sauna and we do allow pets. Rental car and accommodation packages can be arranged if required and we will pick you up from the airport or, bus depot or information center. Getting AroundWe live rural so you need a car. Public transport out here is as much as the overland bus stop at the next village only. The bedrooms have Queen-size beds, and there is a sofa bed in lounge or a single bed can be arranged. A cot and high-chair are available. There is a full bathroom (bath with shower) and washing machine and a separate toilet. * There is a BBQ. * Off street parking * WiFi is available free The second bedroom is accessed from a secure deck if more than one bedroom is required. The rooms are spacious and well equiped with quality furnishings. With ample terraces, heated swimming pool and hot-tub there is room to spread and relax. The house can be configured as a 1 bedroom or 5 bedroom home but is always for your exclusive use. Mapua Heights Cottage is built on principles of passive thermal design with attention to environmental sustainability. Timber from local and renewable sources is used in ceilings and joinery and is largely finished with natural oils. Many of the windows and doors are recycled. New Zealand art and sculpture feature in the cottage. A pot-belly stove keeps the whole cottage cosy in the winter, with a sturdy guard available if needed. Outside, there is a generous deck and garden area where you can sit, relax and enjoy a drink (perhaps a local wine) or a barbecue. Take time to watch the sunsets. As the views of sea and mountains fade, watch the twinkling lights of Nelson emerge and be mesmerised by the stars of the Milky Way and Southern Cross in our dramatic night sky. Extensive native planting and a large area of regenerating bush attracts native birds such as tui, fantail, silvereye and at certain times of year bellbird, shining cuckoo and a New Zealand falcon.               This is small warm double glazed single room sleep out on a working vineyard and winery overlooking the Tasman bay.It has a comfortable king sized bed, 32 inch TV with free view, stereo, microwave, fridge, toaster, kettle and tea/ coffee in a kitchenette style. With an efficient electric fire and double glazing it is warm and cosy year round. The property has its own BBQ and use of the vineyard's private tennis court. You will most likely be met by Colin the winemaker and guest are welcome to tour the small winery. Half way between Richmond and Motueka and minutes away from Mapua and the Upper Moutere you could'nt ask for a more central location to explore from. We are also on the great taste cycle trail and have bikes available for hire. While with us you are welcome to explore the vineyard and tour the winery with wine maker Colin.               The SpaceWe have built this new home to be welcoming adding character by using elm and oak timbers and by recycling doors, light fittings and interesting bits that we have collected over the years. It also houses my ever increasing art collection. Guest AccessThis is our house but guest have access to the guest "wing" which includes a large lounge with TV, table to work at and a bookcase with a selection of books. Shared used of the chefs kitchen with both induction and gas cooktops. In the winter we have a Rayburn wood cooker which heats the house through radiators. Shared dining and laundry area, deck off the lounge and covered Al Fresco off the dining room. There are two bedrooms available, both with queen beds the third bedroom is currently occupied with a long term guest. Interaction with GuestsI am happy to socialise with guests but realise that not all are wanting that so happy to give space and help with anything when needed. The NeighborhoodGreat place to use as a base with the Moutere, Kaiteriteri, Rabbit island and many bush walks close by. Getting AroundAs we are rural it is best that quests have a car to get around. There is plenty of parking available for vans, cars etc Other Things to NoteThere is an elderly house cat which we rescued who spends most of the time sleeping in our wing but does go for wanders down to visit visitors once she gets use to them. Mapua is the closest place with a small supermarket, pubs, restaurants, art galleries and wharf. A quiet location from which to explore the many wineries, arts and crafts, National Parks, Golden Bay and the many beaches the region has to offer.
