Visit the beautiful Athirapally waterfalls located at the entrance to the Sholayar ranges. A popular picnic spot, the falls are a bewitching sight — about 80 feet high and located in a forested area. It joins the Chalakkudy river after plummeting 80 feet.
Experience peace and spirituality at Kalady, the birthplace of the Jagadguru Adi Shankaracharya — the Hindu Saint, philosopher and visionary. Kalady is a beautiful and simple rustic village at the banks of the Periyar river and houses the temple complex.

This temple in Thottuva village is dedicated to Dhanvantari, the god of ayurveda and an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Believed to be about 1000 years old, the temple has a six feet idol of Lord Dhanvanthari.
If you love elephants, Kodanadu is the place for you. It is a rural riverside village situated on the south bank of the Periyar river. An elephant training centre in the past, it now houses a rescue centre for elephants where the gentle giants are looked after with great care and affection.
