Other Things to NoteI and my family stayed at Bill’s Summit Lake cabin for 3 wonderful weeks! To call it a cabin understates the elegance and the high-end finishes of this lovely home. Not only is it beautifully furnished and appointed, the layout is superb! With a sumptuous (Views! Views! Views!) master bedroom with deluxe king size bed, lovely corner sofa, AND a separate living room upstairs, (there’s another lovely bedroom upstairs too!) I and my husband had privacy while the teens had their own bedrooms and living room downstairs. We all had the space we needed and wanted together and apart – that makes for a fabulous get-away! The views are to die for! Tons of decks and tons of great viewing windows make all the difference. Views of the snow-capped peaks, Summit Lake, and the ponderosa pines on 35 very private acres really provided a nourishing setting. We loved watching all the deer that came through each day, herds of them! We have no doubt that when we next return to the Durango-Mancos-Cortez area we will rent this home again! Thank you Bill for being such a wonderful and accessible host!

The SpaceThis is one of the most unique airbnb places you may come across! Into the Wild anyone? This bus has been refurbished and made into a cozy home, nestled in the juniper and sagebrush, overlooking Mesa Verde and the town of Mancos. Close to town with still the out in the woods feel! Super cute, comfy and cozy setting! You will love it! It does NOT have running water inside the bus, but there is water for drinking and rinsing in the sink, both in jugs. There is running water (hot and cold) in the bathroom in the nearby building. ;) Elouisa is a cozy place to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, and a fantastic stop over on your way through Southwestern Colorado. Whether you are looking for a unique get-away, wanting an easy stop-over on your drive through, seeking a jump-off base for nearby adventures or just want to relax in the woods with a good read, this amazing hippie bus is a perfect place to be. Elouisa has retired from life on the road. In her hay-day, Elouisa was traveling home to many. She's seen a lot in her day. Now, she's ready to settle down. This is a peaceful space, where the sounds of nature and country neighbors offer distant companionship. The heater will keep you warm on chilly winter nights. The views from the many windows are of surrounding forests and wildlife. Basic kitchen amenities are provided (small fridge, stove, toaster, kettle, dishes, silverware, etc). Organic coffee and an assortment of tea is provided. We provide bio-degradable soap, shampoo and conditioner, clean towels, etc. The toilet is a composting bucket system (one in the school bus and one in the shop nearby along with full hot shower and sink amenities). Proceeds from your visit will fund further permaculture development on the land, so rest assured, your footprint will be small and green while you visit here. Guest AccessFull access to bus, completely private and away from anyone else on the property. Also there is a full bathroom (composting toilet, hot newly tiled shower and sink) in the shop very nearby. There are lots of trails for hiking and mountain biking within miles of our location. Great food and fun activities minutes to town. The bus is situated on land shared by a few households, and you are welcome to hike the land, but we ask that you respect the privacy of other residents. Although there is no internet at the bus, and cell service is not always reliable (ATT and Verizon work ok, but not great). If you sit near the main house, you can pick up a WiFi signal. Staying for a week or more? We have a small organic garden that you are welcome to during your stay. Interaction with GuestsInteraction with guests is entirely up to the guest. The bus is very private and self contained. There is always someone on the property for questions and guidance to the area and accommodations! The NeighborhoodMancos is a lovely community of artists, farmers and all around good peeps. There is much to do around the area from mountain biking to trail hiking to Mesa Verde National Park. The four corners region truly is a rich place to explore and the weather is pretty mild year round. Can be a little warm July and August, but the rains usually show up around then to cool off the afternoon heat! Downtown Mancos is one minute away or an easy walk to town, full of art galleries, a river path, Absolute Bakery (a must), great parks and who knows what magic may be about on any given day! Getting AroundThere is no public transit in Mancos. It is a town of 1500. Located just 5 minutes from the entrance of Mesa Verde. ;) Other Things to NoteThere is also a composting toilet in the school bus for the middle of the night potty run. Don't be scared away by simple living, it truly is a fantastic place to visit!

The SpaceThe yurt is a round structure which is open with a high ceiling. There is a futon which folds out into a double bed. Additionally, there is an artisan-crafted sleeping loft with a full-sized memory foam mattress. The loft has a plexi-glass dome above it which allows in natural light and where you can see a gazillion stars at night. A cot and two floor mattresses are available. We can supply clean linens, pillows, and warm blankets for the two double beds or you can use your own sleeping bags. Guest AccessThis is located one mile off the highway. The road is bumpy but small cars can access it in good weather. When it rains it can get muddy and somewhat slick. In this event you may need to park at the bottom of the driveway and walk the remaining 1/2 mile to the yurt. Large vehicles (such as RV's) will not be able to navigate the road because of uneven terrain and sharp turns. Guests can hike around a portion of the property. It is wooded and hilly and there are no defined trails. Interaction with GuestsWe live nearby and are here to help if you should need anything. Let us know if you have questions about what to do in the area- we can give you some recommendations. The NeighborhoodIt's a beautiful, desert landscape with pinon and pine trees, scrub oak, sage, and natural grasses. The 360-degree views are spectacular. And, it smells wonderful. Although it's easily accessed from the highway, it is very secluded and quiet. Getting AroundThe entrance to Mesa Verde is two miles by car. The town of Mancos is 7 miles to the east where you can stock up on supplies, shop the art galleries, or go out to eat. The city of Cortez is about 12 miles to the west of the yurt. Cortez has a golf course, a rec center (with a pool and showers), and additional activities and shopping opportunities. Other Things to NoteThe yurt is located in a peaceful, wilderness area. We often see wild turkeys, deer, rabbits, and grouse. We occasionally hear owls at coyotes at night. There is an outdoor potty. A sunshower (an outdoor camp shower heated by the sun) is available in the summer. There is a small kitchen area with a sink which has potable running water (low pressure). The water is not heated so in order to do dished you'll need to heat it. We have a wood-burning cook stove and a portable two burner gas range. There is also gas BBQ grill outside and a fire pit. There is no refrigerator but we can supply you with a cooler during your stay. Also, it gets chilly at night, even in the summer so bring some extra layers. We provide a battery-operated lantern and a couple of headlamps (in addition to the LED lights in the yurt) to help you find your way but you may want to bring your own flashlight.

The SpaceThe cabin sits on 1-1/2 acres, surrounded by beautiful quaking aspen and tall ponderosa pine trees. It has an open living/ kitchen area with a full size futon, master bedroom with a queen bed, and a smaller bedroom with a full bed. Relax on the huge 560 sq ft covered deck with a bbq grill, picnic table, and chairs. It is 'off the grid' and powered by solar. Guest AccessLocated 17 miles NNE of Mancos, most of the road is maintained by the forest service and is graveled, it can become slick and muddy in spots however when there is abundant moisture. Interaction with GuestsWe live just outside of Mancos, so if any issues arise, we will be up to help you out! Our insurance requires that we have a signed rental agreement before occupancy, so if you're interested in coming up, I will e-mail it to you. The NeighborhoodThis is an outdoorsman's paradise; unload your horses, bikes, atv's or hiking boots at the cabin and take off from there. Ride horseback on the Morrison Trial, Ride ATVs on the Aspen Loop Trail, Hike the Sharks Tooth Trail, down into Bear Creek, or make this your hunting cabin for big game in unit 73. Other attractions in the area: Jackson Lake State Park is 10 miles back down toward town , Mesa Verde National Park 27 miles, Durango/ Silverton Narrow Gauge RR 47 miles, McPhee Reservoir 35 miles...the list goes on, but I believe that once you arrive, you will not want to go back down from the mountains! Getting AroundLocated 17 Miles from Mancos, it takes about 45 minutes to get up there if you aren't looking around at all the beautiful scenery.....plan on a wonderful relaxing drive! Other Things to NoteThere is a full size refrigerator and kitchen stove, as well as cooking utensils, bed linens, and towels. The gas log stove is nice to watch when the sun goes down. There's also a tv and dvd player if you want to watch a movie or two that you bring along; keeping in mind that the solar electricity is limited. Well water is pumped prior to your stay, and the tanks have a capacity of 825 gallons. As mentioned, this place is off the grid, so a bit of conservation of resources is required. Quality of cellular reception varies depending on your provider....Verizon seems to work well, AT&T requires that I walk up on the hill to get a good signal.....what can I say- this is getting away from it all! Availability is mid May thru October....November depends on the snow
