Leaving me a note on the kitchen table is an easy and quick way to communicate with me when things get busy. The NeighborhoodMy neighborhood is safe, diverse, easy going and friendly. It's urban but not hectic like other parts of the city. The neighborhood is safe at all hours of the day and night and the area is full of children - there is a school on almost every block! The most amazing thing about my neighborhood is how quiet it is. Central Park gives this neighborhood a world of wild life that other parts of the city misses out on. There are a LOT of birds - i.e. starlings, pigeons, hawks, swans, ducks, etc... all in New York City! My neighborhood is one of the few spots in the city were you will find low and middle income apartments across the street from multi-million dollar condo's and penthouses. The area is a mix of black, white, latino and asian New Yorkers. Please be comfortable with such a vast diversity of neighbors. If you are not, then you should book another listing, perhaps in a neighborhood such as Williamsburg which is predominately white, Bayridge, Bensonhurst, Soho, or the West Village. Manhattan, Brooklyn and the Bronx are extremely diverse boroughs (mixed raced, mixed class, mixed religions, etc...) and you will see other people who do not look like you all the time. I see people who look different than myself every day. It's a beautiful experience! FAST FACTS: New York City has a population of approximately 8.5 million people. NYC is home to as many as 800 different languages. Everyone from around the world lives here! New York City is comprised of five boroughs - Manhattan, Brooklyn, Staten Island, Bronx, and Queens. Each borough in comprised of different neighborhoods, i.e. Manhattan has many neighborhoods such as Harlem, Washington Heights, Chinatown, SoHo, Little Italy, the West Village, Chelsea, Flatiron, Midtown, Wall Street, etc.... NYC's racial demographic: White - 2.7 million Black - 1.9 million Hispanic - 2.4 million Asian - 1 million Oth(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) EVERYONE is welcome here in the Big Apple! Getting AroundFrom my apartment you'll have access to the 2 and 3 express train, the 6 train and several buses that run uptown on Madison Avenue and downtown on 5th Avenue making getting around easy. I am 10 minutes away from Columbia University by bus and the 6 train takes you directly to NYU without a problem. Mount Sinai Hospital is a 3-4 minute walk from my apartment.
