The NeighborhoodMy neighborhood is safe, diverse, easy going and friendly. It's urban but not hectic like other parts of the city. The neighborhood is safe at all hours of the day and night and the area is full of children - there is a school on almost every block! The most amazing thing about my neighborhood is how quiet it is. Central Park gives this neighborhood a world of wild life that other parts of the city misses out on. There are a LOT of birds - i.e. starlings, pigeons, hawks, swans, ducks, etc... all in New York City!
My neighborhood is one of the few spots in the city were you will find low and middle income apartments across the street from multi-million dollar condo's and penthouses.
The area is a mix of black, white, latino and asian New Yorkers. Please be comfortable with such a vast diversity of neighbors. If you are not, then you should book another listing, perhaps in a neighborhood such as Williamsburg which is predominately white, Bayridge, Bensonhurst, Soho, or the West Village.
Manhattan, Brooklyn and the Bronx are extremely diverse boroughs (mixed raced, mixed class, mixed religions, etc...) and you will see other people who do not look like you all the time. I see people who look different than myself every day. It's a beautiful experience!
New York City has a population of approximately 8.5 million people.
