The SpaceIt's a beloved family house with 3 bedrooms (sleep 5), open plan living room/dinning/kitchen, with one large outdoor deck and trees around the house. Off-street parking.
Open plan kitchen flows into the airy living room/dining with French windows and high ceiling. The living room is connected directly to a large private deck with gum tree surrounding.
It's a fully furnished house of 3 rooms:
- master bedroom: with 1 queen size bed.
- 2nd room: usually set up as study, with 1 futon bed that can be converted into a comfortable double bed.
- 3rd room: single bed. It's usually our child's bedroom so you will see toys in this room.
Open plan living room. There is a large book shelve with books in English, French, and Chinese (now you guessed our background). You are welcome to browse through our books of course - please kindly return them after reading.
Note - I like to arrange the furniture around from time to time, so you may or may not see exactly the same layout as on the phone.
Bathroom (with bathtub and shower), separate toilet and laundry (washing machine, dryer) are simple but all well functioning and properly maintained.
The house borders Lane Cove National Park, surrounded by beautiful gum trees and abundant birds and wild life (parrot, loriquet, bush turkey, water dragon, rabbit, ibis, kokabura, kakadu, just to name a few). While the house is very private and quiet (cul-de-sac position), it also has immediate access to a well-maintained cycle path as well numerous walking tracks (including Great North Walk) nearby.
We have two bikes that you may be able to use (if we are not taking them away with us for holiday) - no charge but pls request in advance.
House is also close to Macquarie University, Macquarie Shopping Centre, Turramurra station, Adventist Hospital & Hornsby hospital.
Warning - there is no TV in our house (we have chosen to live a TV-less life for the last 6 years and have no plan to get one any time soon). So be prepared to read, write, have some conversation, or just watch the birds and talk to the wild rabbit as I do sometimes.
It's a bush house, so please be aware of the environment. Thank you. Guest Access--
Guest access: you will have access to pretty much all - the kitchen, living room, bathroom, toilet, laundry, deck, garden, and also our book collection. A backyard shed is locked - no access for guests. Internet is also included however please use reasonably (no movie download etc). Interaction with GuestsWe offer the house while we go away for weekend/holidays, hence we won't be there most likely (but will try best to greet you on arrival) but available on phone/message and/or emails. The NeighborhoodLeafy, quiet, and safe. Close enough to city to experience all the glamor that Sydney has to offer, yet far away enough to feel another world altogether.
The village shop (a few minutes drive) has a grocery, bakery, café, chemistry, post office, pizza shop, hair salon, and a general store. Getting Around---
Getting around: It's 23km to Sydney CBD. Having a car is recommended if you plan to visit around Sydney area (about 40min drive to CBD). However there is a bus stop nearby going to Turramurra train station where there is a direct train going into Sydney city centre (35 min on the train to city. visit Sydney rail website for timetable). Also a bus going to Macquarie University/Shopping Centre and Hornsby.
Go for a walk or bike ride though! It's a leisurely 30-minute walk or 5-minute bike ride to Macquarie University through the Lane Cove National Park, absolutely feeling like a world away. We walk or bike to the village bakery/shops for croissant during weekend morning too. Other Things to NotePlease be aware that as we usually live in the house and only rent out when we're away for short holidays/weekends, we do leave our stuff in the house as one would in the normal household, so please be prepared to see and respect our own things around the house - just leave them there. I will set up to have reasonable amount of spare space for you to use (in the wardrobe, shelf etc).
I like to re-arrange the furniture around the house from time to time (well, a bit too often to my husband's taste :)), so don't be surprised to see different furniture layout than the ones in the photo.
