The SpaceWe call our home Stillwaters. Turn onto Janes Lane and come down to our 12 acres on Lake Athalon. Designed and built by Jeff in the 80's, the living room has great beams and a high loft with a front wall of windows and glass doors facing field and lake. Jeff planted the trees too, which have turned from mere whips into 40 footers. There are 2 labyrinths, woods, fields and quiet roads to wander. The nearest town, Marshall, has great pizza, good Chinese food, a diner and "Old Salem" a decent, affordable restaurant. Our friends at Barrel Oak Winery (Brian) and Cobbler Mountain Cellars (Laura) will also make you feel right at home. History buffs will enjoy reading signs of events from Civil War times. Stillwaters is 45 miles from Washington, DC and just 40 minutes from Dulles International Airport (ask if you need pick up or drop off). Stillwaters also has a recording studio and a stage. We host monthly concerts to support Stillwaters Foundation which is "building community and creating peace through music" (and where we donate your fee). If you'd like to sing around a campfire or try your hands in a drum circle let us know! We have 3 private rooms with 2 bathrooms. We can sleep up to 8 (queen and singles beds, and airbeds--it IS called AIR B&B :) We also love to host events: Stillwaters boasts an outdoor stage, 5 event tents, tables and chairs for 150. Jeff and I had our wedding here (and it was beautiful!) Come! Explore Virginia country, re-connect, re-treat, and rest. We look forward to meeting you here at Stillwaters. Mary Shapiro and Jeff Wolf Guest AccessOf course you have your Private room, you may share our living room, greenhouse, wrap around porch and kitchen. We have wide screen movies, live concerts and a recording studio (for additional fees). Free laundry and WIFI (on your device). Interaction with GuestsAs you wish. We can offer complete privacy (and disappear upstairs) or share a bounteous breakfast together or even give you a private concert or teach you how to drum. Welcome to our home! The NeighborhoodQuite, private country road. The lake brings Great Blue Heron, a variety of hawks, fox, deer, geese, and migratory swans. The stars are phenomenal. Getting AroundNo public transportation, but the roads are easy to navigate and great for biking. We can pick you up at Dulles and take you to the metro to DC if you wish. Other Things to NoteWe're in the heart of northern Virginia wine country. Great farmers' markets and some pick your own farms. Civil War history trails and small towns.
