The Space13.5 miles from Montpelier, not much further to Barre, Hardwick, or St. Johnsbury, we consider ourselves very centrally located yet out in the country in terms of real quiet. Close to Goddard, Marshfield School of Weaving, and not much further to Bagpipe School or Groton forest and it's recreational opportunities. The space is ideal for up to five, and adding a baby in a crib, it could be six. By the week only, please. Guest AccessHalf the huge old farmhouse is yours. Three private entrances. Exclusive use of the hot tub in sun room. A complete, if old fashioned kitchen, two 21st C. bathrooms, one with 3 headed shower. Host is available to build fires in the woodstove, (and may pass thru by arrangement w guests) to keep the many plants watered, or to load the woodstove(s). Interaction with Guestsconcierge services! Leaving you as much privacy as you desire, we live next door and are mostly available for questions or help. We will arrange most convenient times for us to pass thru your downstairs space to water the plants, and build fires in the coldest seasons. (Wood is stored on 1 of your 3 porches and wood furnace is in the basement. Kitchen is stocked w basics, and starter breakfast items. Interaction with cats if desired, and cats are kept on our side, if not. The NeighborhoodMany people have found us to be an ideal retreat space, for a family, a group, a single or a couple. Lots of writing gets done here! Goddard College is 10 minutes away. Some good food in Marshfield and in nearby Plainfield Village, & Danville, but the truly good food is in Montpelier - as good or better than Burlington. See our web page for where to eat on the way into Pie in the Sky. We are a mile off of US Rt 2 - just enough to enjoy real quiet without requiring you to drive much length of back road! Other Things to NoteIt is an old famhouse with some fancy but tasteful modern aspects such as the hot tub and the downstairs bath. Cat allergies - although the house is professionally cleaned - and well--maybe shouldn't risk it unless it is in summer time when all the windows can be opened. There are 2 air cleaners, however. In very hot weather house is cooled by an all-house venting system and a number of individual fans, aided by you or us, closing and opening shades each day. Vermont generally has only 1 week of really hot weather and so odds are you won't hit this special time!
