The SpaceThe house and the ranch offer a romantic, charming weekend (or longer!) get-away only two hours from Austin or San Antonio. Henry Hasse and his wife, Fredericka, emigrated from Germany and purchased this ranch in 1860. They built a log structure on the property and replaced it in 1883 with this stone farm house. The house is built in the style of German farm houses in the 1850s and is listed in the National Register of Historical Places because it one of the very few authentic German farm houses with their original structure intact. The house has been completely modernized inside to make it comfortable. It has central heating and air, two bathrooms, a complete kitchen, satellite TV, and wifi. The house is on Highway 29, two hours from Austin and San Antonio, and 6.9 miles east of Mason. It is 27 miles from Llano and 48 miles from Fredericksburg. Guests at the house typically enjoy walking through the ranch on the two mile nature trail. The ranch holds a variety of wildlife, including deer, raccoons, migratory birds, and all the other native species of the Hill Country. The old field has a grove of native pecan trees. In the north end of the property (along Hasse Creek) is one of the few remaining groves of post oak trees in the county. The rest were cut down by early settlers to build the original log houses. The town of Mason has a classic town square, centered around the county courthouse. The square continues today to be the 'hub' of the community for dining and shopping, a museum, movie theater and plenty of interesting characters! According to the Texas Monthly and the Dallas Morning news, this is the best preserved small town square in the state. The fully equipped, modern kitchen allows guests to prepare meals in the house. The proximity to Mason allows driving easily into town for lunch or dinner. With regrets, guests are not permitted to bring pets.

A relaxing lodging experience with all the luxuries of a hotel! Enjoy our Newly Remodeled Luxury King Suite one minute from the square in Mason, Texas. Spacious 1 Bed/1 Bath, Private Entry and Breakfast Nook, Generous Parking, Peaceful Rock Patio, Continental Breakfast including Coffee, Juice, Milk, Fresh Fruit, Danish, Yogurt and Oatmeal. Our family moved to Mason in December of 2012. We left the Austin suburbs to follow Dan's dream of becoming a farmer and start a new chapter in our lives as vineyard owners. We have 2 children; Ashley and Blake. We also have Olive, our Chihuahua-Rat Terrier rescue, who will catch a ride to the vineyard any chance she gets. Dan spends his days in the vineyard balancing the care of the grapevines and working his IT consulting job remotely. I bounce around from Mom Duties, Fitness Instructor, Flower Shop Assistant and Vineyard Helper. We are so happy to call Mason "home" and hope you have a wonderful and relaxing visit here. We want to respect your privacy and will not disturb you unless we need to get you a message should something arise.

This wonderfully restored German farmhouse awaits your presence to complete the perfect weekend getaway. Stroll the nature trail and see Texas flora and fauna close up. Wander over and see the historic Art Methodist Church or drive a short way into town and visit museums or do some shopping. In 1883, Heinrich and Fredricka Hasse greeted visitors to their home with a single German phrase: "Wilkommen zu mein haus." The descendants of their great-granddaughter and original Hasse House proprietor, Laverne Lee, issue the same greeting to guests today, over a century and a quarter later. The Hasse House is listed in the National Register of Historic Places, is a Texas Century Ranch and is graced by a Texas Historical Marker. This is a unique guesthouse and was the first bed and breakfast in Mason County. In addition to being a working ranch, the 320 acres surrounding the house offer ample opportunities for observing the abundant wildlife - deer, wild turkeys, feral hogs, and quail are all common sights. The two mile hiking trail lets you enjoy the peace and tranquility of country life. The house is complete with period furniture, accessories, dishes, pans, linens, and a modern kitchen with microwave and dishwasher. Enjoy our historic surroundings, but with your favorite modern comforts, such as satellite HD-TV, WI-FI, washer and dryer, central heat and air and even a wood burning stove with doors that open to warm the soul as well as the body on cool winter evenings. (Present day use is limited to Duraflame only, please). The Hasse House is a 2-bedroom guesthouse with private bath on each floor. This lodging provides coffees and teas but no breakfast.

Take a step back in time for a stay in a lovely Victorian home near the Courthouse Square! Built in 1900 by early resident Fritz Hoerster, this guest house has been restored with great care to original detail while incorporating many modern comforts. There is a great sense of space with 12 foot ceilings crowned with den-til molding, along with the original transoms, wainscoting and oak flooring to be found throughout the house. The large and airy living room has comfortable seating including a queen sized sleeper sofa. A pair of wing-back chairs sit in the bay window and are ideal for curling up with a good book. Antique furnishings complete the feel of a bygone era, including an oak apothecary cabinet which spans the room so perfectly one would think it was original to the home. Additional amenities include fiber optic Wi-Fi for internet access and a television set for watching DVD and VHS movies + a selection to choose from. There is central heat/air and ceiling fans throughout. The large bedroom, featuring a queen size bed with fine linens and good reading lamps, is complete with ornamental fireplace and large windows. Extra sleeping is available with a twin in the adjoining enclosed sun porch. Original cupboards abound in the modern and fully equipped kitchen which includes gas range, microwave, coffee maker, toaster oven and dishwasher. The open pass-through to the spacious dining room ensures the cooks are never far away from other guests! The large remodeled bathroom continues the feel of the era with a clawfoot tub~shower combo, pedestal sink and large tiled flooring. A screened porch provides comfy seating to relax after a busy day of exploring Mason or visiting with friends. Another porch at the front is ideal for the long-ago pastime of 'counting cars' that pass by the ornate, vintage entry gate. Or when ready to cozy around the chiminea in the back yard (dependent on local conditions), retire to yet another outdoor living area that is a feature of this property.

This historic guesthouse was one of the first houses in Mason, being built in 1869 by cattle baron, John Gamel, who also donated land to establish the townsite of Mason. This home has been completely restored and is furnished with lovely antiques. Modern conveniences include central heat/air, HD satellite service to large screen tv, Wi-Fi, local telephone and washer/dryer. The house has a living room and dining room with period furniture, fully equipped kitchen with full-sized stove and refrigerator, a tv room with comfortable seating along with the two bedrooms and two baths. One bedroom has a queen-sized bed and the second has a set of extra long twin beds. Extra sleeping is available on a twin sleeper sofa in the study. The period furniture extends to these rooms with antique armoires, chests and bureaus. One bath continues vintage with a claw-foot tub while the second has a modern shower. Outdoor seating areas include a veranda porch, complete with wicker seating and porch swing (a guest favorite!). A shaded patio has table and chairs set under the canopy of an historic oak tree. Local folklore says this tree was where Gamel sold drinks to soldiers of Fort Mason! The 1.5 acre property affords privacy yet being only a block off the Courthouse Square is very convenient to movies & live music, wine bars, museums, shopping and dining. Come and stay where some of Mason's colorful history actually took place! As a guesthouse, breakfast is not included but an assortment of coffees and teas along with juice and fresh ice is provided by the proprietor. Essentials for a relaxing afternoon on the veranda swing!

This is a private guest ranch located in the Texas Hill Country's San Saba River Valley. There are 3 houses on the property with 4 kitchens and tons of great activities including a shooting range, fishing, shuffleboard, poker table, fire pit, hiking and ATV trails.  Named for the owner's beloved mother who was called 'Shatzie' (German for sweetheart) by his father, the name is the driving force behind the ranch's registered brand. Combined with the fact that Brady is the closest town to the geographical epicenter and heart of the great State of Texas, the heart design represents a natural blend of two Texas treasures. The main house was build in 2005 and boasts upscale cowboy chic décor. For those with a discerning eye, there are many one of a kind features found throughout the house. As you enter the house, you'll find boot prints and horse show prints along the cement floor, a red stag horn chandelier made from sheds found on the ranch, whitetail deer horns serving as curtain rods, bovine leather curtains in the master,  original Indian blankets decorating the walls, all custom cut cedar wood accents and molding, custom made cedar beds, horse bridal and bit toilet paper holders, and much more. Many a pair of cowboy boots have scooted across the 117 year old wood floor that once graced the dance hall in Sherry Springs, Texas and now serves as the floor in the main room of the Game Room. A 1903 porcelain stove still works and proudly bakes the Thanksgiving turkey and dressing each year. The Game Room sports a shuffleboard table, pool table, darts, and a variety of signs that create an ambiance and experience that is sure to make you smile - and maybe even laugh out loud. The ranch is a wonderful place to vacation for a large family or even multiple families. With so many activities available it really is a vacation unto itself.

Henry Hasse and his wife, Fredericka, emigrated from Germany and purchased this ranch in 1860. They built a log structure on the property and replaced it in 1883 with this stone farm house. The house is built in the style of German farm houses of the 1850s and is listed in the National Register of Historical Places because it one of the very few authentic German farm houses with their original structure intact. It has been completely modernized inside to make it comfortable for modern visitors. In the north end of the property (along Hasse Creek) is one of the few remaining groves of post oak trees in the country. The rest were cut down to build the original houses. The fully equipped, modern kitchen allows guests to prepare meals in the house. The proximity to Mason allows driving easily into town for lunch or dinner as well as to visit museums and shops around the picturesque Courthouse Square. The house and the ranch offer a romantic, charming weekend or getaway only a few hours from Austin or San Antonio. Keywords: Stone Farm House

It is important for our guests to know that this is a working ranch, with miles of ranch roads. We make every effort to maintain them well; however, weather is always a factor that we cannot control. It is highly recommended that guests arrive in SUVs or pickup trucks if possible. If not do as the owners do...when guests arrive in a luxury car/street car, then those vehicles are parked at the front of the ranch inside the gate and someone meets them for the ride to the lodging. Location: Just two hours West of Austin in the rolling hills of McCulloch County, the Ranch is located between the towns of Brady and Menard in the very heart of Texas. The gate to the ranch is located just 6 minutes from the nearest grocery store and local restaurants. Amenities and Activities: This property is a private and exclusive rental, meaning that you will have the entire 8,200 acres to yourselves. The ranch is available for only a set number of large family reunions/groups each year and we take pride and serving the unique needs of every one. Ranch staff lives on the property 3 miles from our guests and are available to assist if any problems occur during your stay. At the Gray River Ranch we like to tell our guests, "This is your home on the range.” Here you can gather among your loved ones and cast aside the stresses of everyday life, take a stroll down to our deep run of the San Saba River, explore a canyon, or ride a horse. Whatever you do we'd like to invite you to breathe in some of our fresh country air along the way. If these hills could talk, you'd hear the sounds of song and laughter and the romance of the Old West ringing across the pastures.
