The SpaceTidsfordriv Rural Retreat is a 64 acre farmlet with a modern home set in parklike surrounding. The house overlooks a large lake with many species of birdlife. Glenys has been home-hosting for 27 years and knows how to make your visit special. A Queen room with double bed and a twin room with single beds. A group of 4 can be catered for with bathroom sharing. One group at a time is the normal with a private bathroom. You will enjoy walking around the extensive gardens and the farmland. Laundry facilities are available. Free WIFI is also available. Relax in the family lounge or on the verandah to absorb the great scenery. Your Hosts Glenys and Athol enjoy talking about local history, their travels, conservation and encourage you to have dinner with them This is by arrangement @ $30pp with pre dinner drink. Special diets can be catered for. The area of Wairarapa is mainly a rural district with agriculture and horticulture being the prime industries. Matahiwi is a rural area founded by early settlers to the Wairarapa. Sheep, beef and cropping is the main farming industry around this area. Good rail transport to and from Wellington each day with the Railway Station just 8kms from Tidsfordriv Rural Retreat. Wairarapa Wineries are renowned for the wonderful wine they produce. A visit to Pukaha Mt Bruce Wildlife Centre, Castlepoint or a walk in the Tararua Forest Park are worth staying an extra day to visit. We offer charming boutique accommodation - family friendly and affordable - with packages and extras to suit all needs. From accommodation only to full cooked breakfast and meal plans with seasonal local produce and vegetables from our farm and surrounding producers. We can taylor cleansing weekends, give private yoga lessons on request and arrange therapeutic massages on site. Go for strolls down to the river, cycle to local wineries or embark on beautiful hikes in the Tararua Forrest Park. Or just unwind in a hammock. The accommodation is decorated with mainly reclaimed materials to give an authentic yet modern farmhouse feel. The main bedroom has a comfortable queen bed, walk-in wardrobe, and on-suite bathroom with a large bath. The Kitchen has been designed around existing elements by a friendly french carpenter, and provides all you need to cook lovely meals from amazing Wairarapa produce. The living room looks out onto our olive grove and provides a cosy spot to relax by the wood fire. The kids/extra bedroom features a bunk-bed (180cm long) and a single bed. The porch is enclosed to provide shelter, and an outside dining area lets you enjoy hot summer nights with a Wairarapa wine - you are welcome to dine in the olive grove, too! Special conditions: No smoking on property, please. No pets (we have too many animals already!) We take WWOOFing volunteers (willing workers on organic farms) from all over the world so we are very used to having new faces in the family, we also have a very friendly inquisitive 5 year old who will show you the farm and animals if you wish. The NeighborhoodFriday nights there is pizza at the Watermill Bakery, just 5min up the road, with BYO beer and wine, and dining in and around an impressive swiss style chalet. Gladstone vineyards are a short drive or a solid bike-ride from our place. Hiking trails for the Tararua forrest park start just up the road, for wonderful family forrest hikes to multi-day tramps. Masterton has a great pool and adventure playground for kids, with a deer park. Cute little farmers markets (Sat in Masterton, Sun in Carterton) offer local produce and crafts. Other Things to NoteWe are a working farm among other working farms so although quiet and tranquil much of the time the country has its own repertoire of farm noises such as chainsaws, strimmers and tractor-trailers. Other noises include animals such as chickens announcing their latest egg, cows, sheep and roaring deer in the season!       The SpaceIt is private, spacious, set in NZ bush. The water is filtered from a spring, no additives, tastes beautiful and the air smells amazing. Guest AccessThe lodge is let to only one group at a time so you wont be sharing spaces, you need transportation as we are 27km from the local towns. There are 2 verandahs upstairs, ideal for a drink in the evening or coffee/tea in the morning. Good place to go for walks.

          Nestled in New Zealand native bush, alongside the Mangatarere river, this lodge offers peace, privacy and tranquility. It has walks, swimming holes, fishing, exploring, birdlife and space. From the property you can access the Tararua Forest National Park. 1 1/2 hours from Wellington driving time. 25 minutes from Masterton, Carterton, Greytown There is no cell phone reception which is challenging for some.....but great once you get used to it. You can climb the ridge behind the lodge, with your phone, and enjoy panoramic views of the Wairarapa and get reception and the added bonus of a work out. The river is refreshing to swim in over summer. And there is that lovely sound only a river can make. Smells are fresh. Invigorating. There are a couple of waterfalls to visit as well. There are DOC tracks to walk, and we can pick you up and bring you back. 1 track goes to Holdsworth, the other comes out at the Waiohine Gorge, you can organise with me to be picked up, then enjoy the cafes before returning to the lodge.             Far Pavilion is a unique , hidden, secluded rustic cottage with spectacular views over the upper valley of the Waingawa. Situated on the edge of its own block of native bush, this venue would be hard to beat for a romantic interlude.. Once settled in here, there seems no reason to venture out. Curtains will be hardly ever drawn because the views,- both night and day, are superb. Firelight from the Bronte enhances the ambience inside, after dark. A conventional fan bake oven with grill, a microwave, and large modern fridge/freezer, make self-catering so easy. This is a well-appointed cottage with a mix of modern and old style furniture and fittings. An interesting selection of reading material, games, and pastimes along with CD's and an excellent collection of movie DVD's await your enjoyment. Many other features will surprise and delight you. Very comfortable king-sized bed ensures a restful night. Quality linen all provided. A peaceful, private, and cosy time is assured. - Special conditions: 1. Far Pavilion situated up 4WD track. If you need it, there's a 4WD saloon car which will be yours (exclusively andamp; gratis) to shuttle up and down. Full access to the farm-house kitchen, dining, large lounge and extensive sunny terraces, and of course all of the extensive grounds. As well as the main bedroom we have 2 singles which are available most times - please ask when booking. Other Things to NoteWe have two young-ish cats, sisters called An & Zac, They are generally busy doing their own thing but still like to play every now & then.

              The SpaceA continental breakfast is included in your stay to include bread (home baked on the days that allow) cereal yoghurt and fresh fruit. Tea and coffee are included, there is no kitchen but there is an area set up with a toaster, kettle and fridge cutlery and crockery. On Friday nights, take a stroll up the road for amazing fresh pizza at the Watermill Bakery. You are most welcome to bring in take away foods or grab yourself a cooked chicken and salad to enjoy with a glass of wine. Stay off the grid, literally. We generate our power by solar energy. Recharge your batteries and unwind, with the entrance to Mount Holdsworth walking tracks less than 10 minutes drive away and on a hot day revive with a swim in the cool clear water of the river at the bottom of the garden. Enjoy the break from technology, there are books, games and cards for your enjoyment, we don't offer internet as it can be unreliable cell phone signal is also intermittent.....bliss. Guest AccessPlease enjoy a walk around the gardens and down to the river, if you bring your littlies please let them enjoy the swings and slide, they are also welcome to enjoy the trampoline but will need to be supervised thanks. Getting AroundYou will need a car to get around as there is no public transport where we are. Other Things to NoteWe do have free range chickens and children, we have two boys 8 and 4 and also a very friendly puppy, if you are uncomfortable with dogs please let us know and we will keep Hutch on his lead during your stay. Extra people will be catered for on stretcher beds linen and towels will be provided for extra guests also.
