Rigby Retreat is located on a quiet, one-acre lane directly facing the Chesapeake Bay but protected by a sand bar referred to as "Rigby Island". It's near a popular fishing spot referred to as "Hole in the Wall", just south of Gwynn's Island in Mathews County. Directly across the bay is the Eastern Shore of Virginia, and another popular fishing spot known as "the Cell". Wolf Trap Lighthouse is visible off of New Point Comfort where another namesake lighthouse is located. There are two small public beaches nearby.
