The SpaceListen to the ocean waves and smell the tomotoes ripening on the vine from your deck at this meticulous beach house in exclusive Captain Kidd Estates. You will feel like you have unearthed buried treasure when you experience the lore of the North Fork and then retreat to this cozy property which accomodates up to 6 adults/children in an open floor concept. The four bedrooms contain : One bedroom: 1 Queen bed Second bedroom: Bunk beds (twin) Third bedroom: 2 Full beds Fourth bedroom: 1 Queen bed From the gourmet kitchen with top of the line stainless steel appliances, granite counters and tumbled stone backsplash you overlook the pedastal dining room table and cozy living room fitted with white wash brick fireplace and 40" High Def Plasma TV. Only one hour and twenty minutes from NYC and minutes from dozens of wineries, local produce farms, golf courses, outlet shopping at Tanger Riverhead and Historic Greenport Village to name just a few ways to spend your stay. As for beaches, from the Sound to the Bay or even the short drive to the Hamptons on the Atlantic, there are a number of picturesque locations to choose from. Our Mattituck home is our gem-we have completely renovated this home since we purchased it and made it the perfect getaway from city life. It is at the same time accommodating and cozy, simple yet refined with the quality furnishings we have used. Many of the shells in the house were accumulated when running on the beach and fishing books and vintage reels are my husband's treasures, an established surfcaster for over twenty years. Our home is located in a beautifully landscaped neighborhood, tucked on a quiet street of 3 homes just behind the bluffs facing the ocean where it is legend that Captain Kidd has buried treasure. The property is fenced in and borders environmentally protected land which is ideal for young children despite the rare traffic in the area. Also ideal for children is the open backyard which has never been treated with pesticides-a common practice for others who don't have a fenced in area. We enjoy our home and all the North Fork has to offer; we're happy to share our "treasures" with you as you hunt for your own. If you are interested in learning more about our home, please inquire for more information. Guest AccessThe owner will provide the required permission to obtain beach permits available to residents only.

The suite has CAC (central air conditioning) as well as ceiling fans, and is fully heated with its own thermostatic controls. There is a 36" LCD TV, no Cable TV, but media player with Netflix available for movies, free high speed WIFI, fabulous wood floors, neutral decor. The suite even has its own washer and dryer! You do have a separate breakfast nook with table and 2 chairs, new sink, new refrigerator and freezer to store fresh foods, farm stand purchases and to self cater a continental breakfast. We provide filtered water and complimentary fresh ground coffee and half and half, rolls, butter, jam. There's also a microwave for reheating soups and restaurant leftovers if desired. One flight of stairs to the second floor. Bicycles and kayaks are available to rent locally, but unfortunately, you do need a car to get around the North Fork. The nearest beach is New Suffolk, 2.3 miles away, a 5 minute drive. This fabulous accommodation is private, romantic, and close to all area attractions. Your hosts are friendly local professionals who also work in the real estate industry. Minimum Stay: 2 nights * More info on transferring from NYC: We appreciate that you have many choices, so the following information is simply intended as an introduction to some of the options available to you, and is not meant to steer you in any particular direction. Most people drive out from the city, but you can also catch the Hampton Jitney, (luxury coach with bathroom, wifi and snacks on board), picking up a hire car locally. It takes roughly 2 hours to get to Riverhead, where there is an Enterprise car rental across the road from the Jitney stop. LIRR trains are good, but run infrequently to the east end and may involve changes. The nearest station is Mattituck, which is biking distance, but not walking distance. Other options are to take the LIRR train to Hicksville or Ronkokoma, then pick up a rental car there and drive the rest of the way. Finally, we have some great guest reviews, which often include prior guest recommendations, so don't miss browsing them, then contact us if you have any other questions. Hope to hear from you soon! Guest AccessGuest accommodations are entirely private, not shared. You have your own parking space, a separate entrance, your own AC and heating controls, even your own secured wifi network. Interaction with GuestsWe're happy to meet guests on arrival to say hello and answer questions. For those who need a late check in, information is provided to all confirmed guests, so you're never under pressure to arrive by a certain time. We respect guest privacy, but we're never far away if needed. The NeighborhoodApart from being the sunniest town in New York State, Cutchogue is also one of the prettiest on the North Fork. We're surrounded by farms, vineyards, fine restaurants, stunning beaches, fabulous sunsets and so many different ways to relax and enjoy the bucolic ambience, there's something for everyone. Getting AroundPublic transportation for getting around the North Fork is slim to none. :-( Bring wheels. In winter, a 4WD or all wheel drive vehicle is recommended. Other Things to NoteIf you're interested to rent bikes, we recommend Dan's Bikes in Greenport. He delivers and picks up from our house, and here's our 2015 tip. The season only just got started and he was already maxed out this Memorial Day weekend, so to avoid disappointment, don't leave it until the last minute, try and book your bikes early!

The SpaceAndrew Geller's sunny modernist gem, "The Toaster House" is located in a setting that feels like a treehouse with a 2-story wall of windows and tree-shaded decks on both levels. Built in 1962 by the cult favorite "Architect of Happiness" (who also designed Leisurama Homes in Montauk), the original Toaster House had a 2nd wing built in 1982, where the hosts now reside. The 1962 Guest Wing has most of its original 60s details, full of playful angles, a 2-story fireplace, an entire wall of books and curiosities. The North Fork is a beautiful area to explore, but if it rains or snows during your visit, the house is a cozy refuge with its own enchantments. Guest AccessGuests have use of entire original 1962 wing, with private parking and front entrance off circular drive. Hosts live in separate wing. Interaction with GuestsWe are available, friendly and knowledgable about the North Fork and the East End in general, but will entirely respect your privacy. The NeighborhoodThe North Fork is Long Island's beautiful alternative to the Hamptons, with 48+ wineries, organic farms, beaches and a low-key lifestyle suitable year-round for walking, hiking, browsing and enjoying farm-to-table dining in its scenic towns. The Toaster House is located on a quiet street that ends at one of the Mattituck Inlets, so a 2-minute stroll takes you to a view of boats and docks. Another five minute stroll leads to Oregon Road, one of the most scenic walks/drives/bike rides in Long Island, with miles of old farms and fields…plus two award-winning wineries. On a clear night, the sky is full of stars. Getting AroundMattituck is 1 1/2 - 2 hour drive from NYC. The Hampton Jitney and the Long Island Railroad both stop directly in Mattituck, approx. 1 mile from our house. Bikers and hikers can fully enjoy a stay with no car, but for really seeing the North Fork's many sweet towns and beaches, a car is recommended. LIRR schedule: (website hidden) Jitney: (website hidden) Car Rental (they deliver, hours limited): Enterprise (website hidden)_rental(website hidden) Hometown Taxi: (phone number hidden) Bike Rental: Dan's Bikes, Greenport (they deliver the bikes directly to the house) Other Things to NoteThe house is fully stocked with all the basics, and lots of frills -- comfy beds, pretty linens, tons of blankets and pillows -- and each bathroom is stocked with towels and toiletries.
