Description
This comfortable 3 bedroom 2 bath vacation house has been recently remodeled and features hardwood floors, granite counter tops, an open floor plan, washer and dryer, modern kitchen appliances, new beds, mattresses and furniture and a beautifully decorated interior. This house is truly a country retreat set in a private, quiet location surrounded by large trees, open fields, and several nearby ponds. The side screen porch is a wonderful feature of this house and offers a great spot for resting, chatting or reading. Sometimes cows can be observed in nearby fields from the relaxing screen porch. We've provided everything you may need (linens, towels, coffee maker, toaster, hair dryer, iron, even board games - but no TV). We left the technology out on purpose to encourage you to enjoy your company and the beautiful environment that surrounds this Farm Stay. Southern hospitality is alive and well in the small town of The Rock, Georgia. You can truly escape to country charm and rural elegance in this Farm House on The Rock Ranch. The Rock Ranch is a 1500 acre ranch owned by Chick-fil-A founder S. Truett Cathy. Professionally decorated to "Southern Living" quality, a stay at this location offers access to walk, hike, bike ride and enjoy a relaxing retreat in this beautiful farm setting. The property features many ponds, wooded expanses and acres of rolling pasture, a great diversity of wildlife, farm animals, a vineyard, u-pick fruit orchards, a farm market and beautiful landscaped gardens. This location is an hour from Atlanta, 45 minutes from Macon and an hour from Columbus, GA. There are many tourist attractions and state parks within a 60 mile radius of this location. This house is set back a good distance from the road. The property is rural, beautiful and fenced (farm style). Think country road, rolling hills, fields but very well kept. There are pastures and ponds nearby and this location is quiet peaceful and private. The Rock Ranch is an hour from Atlanta, 45 minutes from Macon and an hour from Columbus, GA. There are many tourist attractions and state parks within a 60 mile radius of this location. High Falls State Park is 30 miles to the east and 25 miles to the west is beautiful Sprewell Bluff State Park, both featuring natural beauty. The Rock is one of those "blink and you miss it" kind of southern towns with a rich history and lovely people. Hwy 36 (Barnesville Hwy) provides a direct route to I75 (20 miles to the east), Hwy 41 (5 miles to the east) and Hwy 19 (7 miles to the west). Two charming communities are near enough for quick provisions or dining. Thomaston, Georgia is 7 miles to the west and features a restored and wonderful old-fashioned, 1 screen downtown movie theater "The Ritz" and has a Wal-Mart, Home Depot and restaurants. Barnesville Georgia (the buggy capitol of the south) is college town with a quaint historic downtown area offering local restaurants and shops. Large antebellum style homes on a tree-lined main street with sidewalks lead you into to town. The Rock, Georgia, itself, has a post office, a few churches and not even a traffic light. Our town exists because Hwy 36 used to be the Old Federal Stage Coach Route and the stage would deliver mail to the doctor who built a house on our property in the early 1800's. "put my mail in the hole in that rock" is what our good doctor advised the stage coach driver to do. For the next 100 years mail was deposited in a large granite rock and when the road was widened and a the rock destroyed - a post office had to built and a town named to catch all the mail coming to "the rock". Farmland and open skies in a secure and peaceful rural setting. That's our location.
