The SpaceA rural setting minutes from a country town which has all usual services, including a large supermarket open 7 days. Only one separate, spacious self contained unit so there will be no other guests on the farm. A solid high masonry wall separates the owner's house from the Lodge. Guest AccessAll the facilities of the Lodge. Wander anywhere around the 33 ha farm. Leave gates as you find them. There are no live electric fences. The sheep are not pets but reasonably quiet. Interaction with GuestsOnly as much as guests wish. I enjoy conversation but only if that is your wish. It's possible you might not meet me at all, but usually I will meet guests on arrival and perhaps on departure. The NeighborhoodA quiet, attractive small sheep farm on the edge of, but out of sight of Merredin which has approximately 2,800 residents. Merredin has excellent sporting facilities, a library, two museums and the Cummins Theatre - an outstanding historic theatre, which frequently presents a variety of live shows, including performances by the Merredin Repertory Club. There are plenty of takeaways and good places to dine. Merredin is a good central location from which to explore the surrounding small towns, large granite rocks and diverse beautiful bushland of the eastern wheatbelt and goldfields. Kalgoorlie is about 3 hours east by car or train. Getting AroundTrains - The Prospector (Perth-Kalgoorlie) has 1-2 services each day and The Indian Pacific (Perth-Sydney) 2 services each week. The Prospector stops at Merredin and the Indian Pacific will do so with prior request. With reasonable warning I will transport you to and from from the station. There is an excellent local airport operated by China Southern Airlines for pilot training. It is also used by private light planes and the Royal Flying Doctor but there are no scheduled passenger flights. To walk from the Lodge into town takes 30-40 minutes or 5 minutes by car. This is a good safe area for cycling and horse riding. Touring cyclists are very welcome. Car hire is not available in Merredin. Other Things to NoteThe only person living at Little Rock is myself. I might not always be present when you arrive or depart but will let you know if that will be the case and I will be contactable by mobile phone.
Expect summer to be hot and dry, often with nuisance flies. The garden is designed to survive these conditions with little or no watering. Winters are cool to cold with occasional mild frosts. Definitely no snow!
