Need a second bed? The blue couch in the downstairs area folds down as a futon, it's a little larger than a king single but smaller than a double, suitable for one person. There is a steep staircase to the loft with a double size bed tucked under the rafters. The steep staircase with rails (but open sides) makes it unsuitable for young children/active crawling babies! Guest AccessEasy access and parking to a self contained cabin. A fully equipped kitchen with oven, stove, microwave and outside BBQ. One minute walk down to a charming lakeside cove and Nungurner Jetty to swim, watch the sail boats or throw in a line. Relax on the private, fully enclosed deck or lie in the hammock and listen to the froggy chorus from a nearby billabong, or simply enjoy the dawn birdsong. If you're lucky, you may see the dolphins, seals or a yacht race in Bancroft Bay.
Safe parking near the cottage, with place for a small boat too Shops, laundrette and restaurants in nearby Metung or Lakes Entrance. 20 minutes drive to ocean beaches and walks, wineries and local artists studios. Beautiful walking opportunities abound.
Unfortunately we cannot have guests with dogs, due to local wild life. Interaction with GuestsThe cabin is near the main house, yet quiet, separate and private with a superb view through the trees over the lake. Hosts Ingrid( who manages the property and played with creating a magic space) and Richard ( who built the Crow's Nest and who lives on the property) are happy to assist guests with any queries and answer questiions on local info on great spots to visit and enjoy. For guests who would like to relax in peace and quiet or those who choose a little more interaction with the locals...we will be sensitive to your needs. The NeighborhoodEnjoy Nungurner's peace and quiet, with its pristine water, changing light on the waters, clean air and birdsong. A community that attracts artists and folks who have a love of the simple pleasures in life. Nearby access to coffee shops, restaurants and the Farmers' Market at Metung. Be sure to buy your supplies in Lakes Entrance or Bairnsdale. Getting AroundIdeally guests have their own transport. Nungurner is a small community without any shops. The community enjoys "simply messing about in boats", quiet chats on the jetty and the natural and beautiful surroundings.
Metung is a 10 minute drive away, Lakes Entrance is 15 minutes, and Bairnsdale 25 minutes.
There is a Vline bus and train from Melbourne, (3.5hr trip) with the hosts happy to pick-up guests by arrangement. Local taxis are avaliable. Hosts can help stock your fridge and larder or supply a picnic.
Lovely nearby walks, beach trips, pristine 90Mile beach and opportunities to explore the beautiful Gippsland Lakes abound.
Commercially available boat and yacht hire is avaliable in the area. Sightseeing cruises and fishing trips are available from Metung and Lakes Entrance. Other Things to NoteThe Crow's Nest uses rain water, please be cautious with this precious resource.
We have WiFi buts it's slow, impossible to download movies but fine for the basics like email ! This is regional Victoria!! There is a DVD player and nearby video stores.
There is a DVD player on the TV but no TV signal! A few DVD in the cottage.
There is a 24 hr laundrette in Metung 10 minutes away, but washing line in the sunshine on the property.
Guests are welcome to use bicycles and helmets at their own risk.
