The SpaceBeing an interior designer from Belgium, I've tried to furnish the cottage with a clean country feel, that is warm and inviting. It's not what you will find typically in the Middleburg area, as it has a more European feel to it, but it has been completely remodeled and offers everything you would need as if you were staying at a boutique hotel with a kitchen. Comfortable bed with feather duvet, darkening roman shades, hardwood floor, full kitchen including dishwasher and microwave a rain shower in the bathroom and a big screen TV with comfortable seating in the living room. This cottage is on the same location as the listing on airbnb called Hunters Retreat. Guest AccessThere is parking right in front of the cottage, from time to time you may see our horses but we are not living at the main house currently as we are remodeling it. Feel free to walk down the path to goose Creek for a nice nature walk, we can even arrange for a picnic there for you . In summer, you will also be able to grill off the cottage's large deck or enjoy a cocktail. The cottage is on our private road so there will be no traffic when you are there. Interaction with GuestsWhen we are at the main house, I would love to meet you, you can always reach me on my phone or email but we live an hour away so it's hard for me to come by most of the time. The NeighborhoodIt's hard not to love Middleburg, it's one of the most picturesque towns in the USA if you ask me, surrounded by horse farms, Berryman estate used to be owned by a slave many years ago, if you walk on the path to goose creek, you can still find remnants of the main road to cross goose creek before they built the bridge on Snickersville.. There are also many bald eagles on the estate, at one time we've seen 6 together. When you stay at the cottage, you are surrounded by history and nature. I'm sure you will enjoy Getting AroundWhile there is no public transport, you are a 5' drive from the town with all the restaurants and shops. Other Things to NoteI've put a lot of love into the cottage, we hope you enjoy and leave it as you found it. Please check back on the site as we will soon have other properties available in Georgetown DC and Ibiza Spain .

The SpaceThe guest suite has 2 antique brass beds with luxurious mattresses and linens. Beds can be combined for European style double bed accommodations,(but please note these are 2 beds pushed together, European style, not a king size mattress). Full bathroom on same floor, and wifi. Separate staircase and entrance with full use of modern, fully equipped kitchen, large patio and porch with sleeping bed. Larger parties and special occasions also available. Well behaved pets welcome with approval and deposit. Guest AccessGuests have access to entire first floor, including dining room, kitchen sun room, living room, patio, front porch with sleeping bed, 2nd floor guest suite including bathroom and private staircase. Parking included. Interaction with GuestsI am available throughout your stay, depending on time of day. If requested before your arrival, I can accommodate most reasonable special requests, including catering. Happy to do laundry, and breakfast for a nominal fee. The NeighborhoodThe restaurants in Middleburg are special and delightful, including Salamander Resort, The Red Fox Inn, The French Hound, The Red Horse and my personal favorite, Julien's. Drive a little farther to The Plains, and you will find Girasole, The Front Porch and The Rail Stop, all of which are worth a drive from DC! The wine tasting at close by vineyards, antique shopping or perusing the quaint fashion boutiques make this area a very special get-away. If you let me know your interests, I can help organize reservations, tours and tastings. Getting AroundThis is the country! No public transportation available. A popular destination for cycling trips. Hiking and jogging are right out the front door. Fall weekends can bring more tourists than usual to Middleburg, but parking is usually never a problem. Be aware of the Middleburg police, who frequently have speed traps on roads entering Middleburg, where the speed limit reduces to 25 mph. Please ask me about short cuts along back roads if visiting vineyards. Other Things to NoteMy house is the absolute mecca of the much sought after Piedmont Region of Northern Virginia. Located just 1 mile from Middleburg and a few miles from The Plains, it is the perfect destination for touring the wine country, horse country, antique shopping, civil war sites, cycling, fox hunting or just the beautiful Virginia countryside. Many addresses in the area require long drives down windy dirt roads and in fact are many miles from town, something that makes this location so special is the convenient and close-in address, while situated on a large, private farm. Nothing is visible from the house other than open space farm land. ** If interested in accommodations for horses, please mention as I offer short term horse boarding as well.

The SpaceWelcome to this beautiful remodeled historic home. The main house has 3 bedrooms, two on the upstairs floor that is joined by one large bathroom with separate toilet. On the main floor is another bedroom that has a VERY comfortable pull out couch with a private toilet and has a full bathroom on the lower level. It's a 200 year old old house, so the layout is not your standard one. The guest cottage has a separate listing on airbnb (called super cosy cottage on large estate) , but can be rented with the main house so everyone can be together. Hence is why the listing states that it sleeps 8. If you would like to book for 8 people though, I will need to check that the guest house is available during that weekend as it has a separate listing on airbnb. Being an interior designer from Belgium, I designed the main house with an eclectic yet rustic feel, that is warm and inviting. It's not what you will find typically in the Middleburg area, as it has a European flavor, but it has been completely remodeled and offers everything you would need as if you were staying at a boutique hotel with a kitchen. Comfortable bed with feather duvet, hardwood floor, full kitchen including dishwasher and microwave a rain shower in the bathroom and a big screen TV with comfortable seating in the living room and a historic stone patio. Guest AccessThe property is set on goose creek, you can go for walks for hours, go to the creek, to Middleburg town or the Spa at the Salamandar, all 5' away, or visit some of the best wineries in VA that is starting at 3 miles from our house (Greenhill), you can also bring your horses as we have stalls and turn out available but do contact me ahead of time for this. Interaction with GuestsThis is our weekend home, we live about an hour away but can always come by should there be any issues. The Neighborhoodyou will love this area... obsolete of any traffic, the only thing you will hear are the birds and horses Getting Aroundyou are 5' from downtown by car Other Things to NoteAgain, if you would like to book for 8 people, let me know so that I can check if the guest house is available. We have only used the best materials during this remodeling and are only interested in people that appreciate a high end home and will treat it with respect. This is NOT a "hunt cabin".

The Brookcliffe Farm Guest House, sited on a wooded ridge overlooking Beaverdam Creek and the Blue Ridge Mtns., is part of a 30 acre estate located in the heart of VA Hunt Country. This secluded, 5 BR, 2 BA 3,200 sq. ft. stone and clapboard home has two large flagstone terraces (one under roof and the other pool side with a large pergola); a 20'x60' inground heated swimming pool open early May through Labor Day weekend; a new outdoor Jacuzzi 6-person hot tub; and attached garage parking for 1 vehicle (additional covered parking available). A recent renovation included an updated galley kitchen and two full bathrooms, CAC installation, custom lighting, a LR ceiling fan, refinished heart of pine hardwood floors and professionally designed/installed landscaping. There are two bedrooms upstairs in addition to a very comfortable and private sleep sofa in the sun room. Downstairs you will find two more bedrooms, one with a fireplace and sitting area. The bedrooms share access to a full bath as well as a wet bar. Our farm is located on scenic Foxcroft Rd. bordering the Historic Beaverdam Creek District. The guest house is 5.5 miles northwest of Middleburg, 4 miles from Upperville, 50 miles west of Washington, D.C. and 30 miles east of the Blue Ridge Mtns. We're perfectly located for guests interested in a variety of activities, such as attending family weddings, touring the local vineyards, cycling, fox hunting, polo, steeplechase races (we're 5 min. from Glenwood Park), hiking the Appalachian Trail, fine dining and shopping in historic Middleburg, touring nearby Civil War battlefields and visiting the Virginia State Arboretum just 30 minutes away. The majority of our bookings have been for overflow accommodations for wedding parties. Everyone has found it extremely convenient to be able to have up to 10 family members stay together in the comfort of our home and in such close proximity to the wedding related events. We are a 10 minute drive to the following venues: The Goodstone Inn; The Salamander Resort & Spa; Buchanan Hall; Trinity Episcopal Church. We are within 30 minutes of more that 50 wineries, ciders and breweries which are also popular destinations for our guests. Brookcliffe is an ideal getaway for guests who enjoy the country life for a long weekend or an extended stay. You're welcome to accompany us as we do our daily chores with our Border Collie, Finn, feeding and caring for our two retired horses in the barn, filling the bird feeders and working in our vegetable gardens. The heated pool is a true delight, particularly swimming at night under the stars with the twinkly lights in the pergola to guide you back indoors. The hot tub is open year round and is a great way to relax in the evening listening to the Barred Owls along Beaverdam Creek, spotting fox in the pasture and watching deer visiting the salt lick under the apple tree. We've found the house to be very comfortable for the senior members of our family too. Both levels are entirely accessible without any steps, including the short walk from the car. Both showers are step-in rather than tubs for easy access and there is a teak bench available for the large shower upstairs for anyone who may need it. This arrangement can be difficult to find in a country setting.

The Dutch Barn is located about 2 miles East of Middleburg on a quiet country lane off State RT 50 and in the heart of Virginia's hunt country. The previous owner developed and used it as a small horse breeding operation and there are now 6 indoor stalls (of which 4 are available to guests, including an indoor wash station), a run-in shed, paddock, exercise ring and riding area. It is an excellent place to bring your horse(s) as there is plenty of opportunity to ride on the property, the scenic rural road and beyond. The family owned farm house is connected to the stables, covers about 3,000 square feet of living space including 3 bedrooms, a great room including living, dining and kitchen, TV room, exercise room, and a reading room. All are tastefully decorated with a worldwide collection of antiques, arts and crafts. There are 2 full bathrooms, one having an indoor Jaccuzzi bathtub as well as a half bath in the reading room. All rooms are comfortably outfitted with plenty of closet space. There are quality linens and towels and everything is neat and clean. A large deck with a 6 person's spa (open from spring into fall) overlooks the Bull Run Mountains. At the bottom of the property is a farm pond with a swing bench. There is lots of open space to feel relaxed and it is all quiet and restful. There also is plenty of parking space, including for horse trailers. The town of Middleburg is very charming to explore. The town itself has some renowned restaurants including Red Fox Inn, The French Hound and Julien's, the world class Salamander Resort and Spa, several boutiques, antique stores and a Safeway supermarket. Also the National Sporting Library is here and worth a visit. Within a mile distance you will find a Polo field and a high end horse riding facility and historic Aldie Mill and Oatlands are nearby. Many trips can be made to explore the hilly rustic country side with lots of beautiful properties where horses are kept. Other attractions are the many wineries, the State Arboretum of Virginia, the Skyline drive, Blue Ridge Mountains, and Luray Caverns. Washington D.C. is about 45 miles away and Dulles International Airport about 20 miles or less than half an hour drive. Part of the Smithonian Air and Space Museum (Udvar-Hazy Center) showing the larger planes and space vehicles (including space shuttle Discovery), is located near the airport. All in all enough to do and see to make this property your home away from home.
