The SpaceThoughtful, hand crafted renovation of an 1800's colonial featuring the custom use of antique and re-purposed materials in a modern floor plan. Large master suite includes a unique hand crafted bath en suite, walk in closets as well as french doors opening onto a private covered exterior balcony. Reclaimed chestnut floors, fireplace, large kitchen with custom counter-tops and a covered porch. During your stay, sit in rocking chairs or nap in the hammock by Mountain Pasture Brook in the back yard, or take a dip in the Westfield River or swim at the town beach - both minutes away. WHAT I LOVE ABOUT THE HOME We have worked to keep the beautiful elements of this 150 year old home but added some modern twists to make it an architectural delight. The original wood stairway opens up to an inviting parlor Living Room with a wood burning fireplace. The LR has a pull out sofa bed and can sleep 2. In the corner, a hidden door leads to the library. The Dining Room is perfect for a large gathering of 8. The center island counter in the Kitchen sits 4-6 and the Backyard outdoor table sits 6. The back of the home opens up to an over-sized Kitchen . The kitchen is a mixture of looking old and new - a copper sink, antique hand made counters, modern white cabinets, subway tile and a huge kitchen island overlooking the beautiful perennial laden backyard, but everything is new, including the stainless steel appliances. At the end of the Kitchen we've put a full bath and family room- easily converted to a suite for an extra bedroom with pullout couch. Out of every window your views are amazing. A gorgeous barn in front graces your view in each of your front windows making for perfect holiday pictures and the back of the rich foliage and river. Upstairs boasts 3 large bedrooms. The family bathroom has a large shower and double sinks with an element of natural charm and modern fixturing. The master suite has two french doors going out to your private porch overlooking the river. At one end you have his and her walk in closets and at the other, barn doors slide open to a huge en suite master bath. The antique clawfoot tub sits in front of the reclaimed wood wall and is graced with a chandelier to create the perfect getaway. There is a 4' shower in the corner with spa misters, rain shower and shower head. The double sinks in this bright sunny room make this the perfect luxury. Guest AccessAll access to the 1.25 acre property. We are keyless entry and you will be given the code within 24 hours of check in via AirBnB email. Interaction with GuestsWe have a caretaker right across the street to assist with any questions you might have during your stay. The NeighborhoodVery wooded and picturesque neighborhood. The SpaceSpectacular property on 50-acre family compound. Clean, scenic, quiet, and conveniently tucked away in the Berkshire Hills. Near Jacob's Pillow, Canyon Ranch, Chester Theater Company, Tanglewood, Cranwell Spa, museums, shopping and other cultural and recreational attractions. Beautiful views, deck, warm, and inviting—family and pet friendly. Fully furnished with modern and antique pieces. Phone and internet: strong AT&T and Verizon Broadband 4G LTE, and DirecTV. Washer and dryer in unit on main floor. Recreation: Appalachian and other hiking trails, kayaking, canoeing, cross country and downhill skiing, biking, snowmobiling, ATV, golf, and tennis. Guest AccessThe retreat house loft (aka the carriage house) which sleeps 4-6, also has an optional event space on the first floor, including a classic grand piano and separate catering kitchenette. And if you need more space, there are additional bedrooms in the main house on the property, with their own private bath. Internet: With strong AT&T and Verizon Broadband 4G LTE signals, your best bet for internet connectivity is indeed your provider's data plan (smart-phone-based broadband or "mi-fi"). The rural location only offers low-speed satellite-based internet, so wi-fi is not available. Interaction with GuestsChester's Richard & Shelley Holzman will be able to show you around the grounds and will ensure you get the VIP treatment you deserve. Other Things to NoteLeyla and David, our first guests in February 2016 wrote, "Shelley and Richard were welcoming and available throughout our stay, while also respectful of our privacy. They made sure we had everything we needed, gave us fresh eggs from their own chickens (YUM!), and answered our questions about the area. The carriage house is a dream loft — beautiful wood interior, peaked ceiling, bright skylights, cozy furnishings, and a West-facing picture window with a gorgeous mountain view (sunset central!). Everything was as pictured/described, and my husband and I had a wonderful weeklong winter retreat. The large property has it all — fields, forest, a peaceful pond, stone walls and streams — and no neighbors in sight. There's no WiFi, but who needs it when you're trying to get away from it all! Cell service is good, but turn off your phone (though it's helpful when navigating the area) and watch for the flock of wild turkeys ambling across the field. I'm sure the birdwatching is glorious in other seasons, but we saw a bald eagle nearby! We loved our stay and would love to visit again! Highly recommended for a peaceful retreat."

Enjoy the back deck w/ BBQ and outdoor furniture in summertime. Guest AccessThe front door and rear door from the back deck. Small W/D available for guests staying more than one and one half weeks.
