The SpaceThe Retreat at Randalls offers a totally private, absolute waterfront experience overlooking stunning Randalls Bay, a short drive from Cygnet and 55 minutes from Hobart. Featuring panoramic views of the pristine beach across to Garden Island, and a sheltered 3,500 square metre garden area with abundant wildlife, walking tracks and play equipment for the kids to explore, the opportunity exists for families or couples to rest and relax. So too does it provide the perfect opportunity to access the numerous tourist sites along the Huon Valley Trail, Bruny Island, and beyond. The house itself offers comfortable accommodation with a retro beach house feel. It is set on 3 levels, the lower containing bunk accommodation for two, the middle the kitchen/meals/lounge area, a ‘snug’ and the two main bedrooms, and the upper story providing further sleeping facilities and a new 60 square metre deck. The master bedroom (complete with en-suite) and the communal living areas offer uninterrupted views across the D’Entrecasteaux Channel to the Hartz Mountains. The deck adds further to the panoramic experience, with a 360 degree outlook encompassing the beach across to Garden Island in one direction, and a view of the private gardens and the mountain of the Echo Sugarloaf reserve from behind. An outdoor heater has been recently added to ensure comfort all year round. Further facilities include a split system heater/cooler and a wood burning Coonara, digital television/radio, a scenic BBQ area (wood fired) , a well-equipped kitchen with dishwasher and microwave oven, a washing machine and clothes dryer, abundant reading material, Scrabble, children’s puzzles etc. All linen and towels (except beach towels) are supplied. The grounds, intersected by a winding 100 metre long horseshoe driveway with two small bridges, provide an added source of enjoyment, especially for children. Scattered across the property via a number of tracks can be found a 10 metre trampoline, a slide with adjoining climbing frame, and a play area with suspended tyre, trapeze and conventional swings. Along the coast side a gate opens out to a path leading to the safe, secluded beach. Both Randalls Bay, and the adjoining Mickey’s Beach (accessed by a scenic walking track nearby) are, we believe, simply the best beaches in the Huon region, if not beyond. Certainly, they are one of the very few stretches of sandy shoreline to have such an enclosed, sheltered position, surrounded by natural bush. Other attractions include: • kayaking, fishing, coastal walks, swimming, rock-pooling, boating • Cygnet (a pleasant ‘artistic’ town with a variety of quality cafes and galleries) • Hartzview and Panorama wineries • Bruny Island • Grandvewe Cheesery • Tahune Airwalk • Hastings caves and Thermal Springs • Hartz Mountains • Peppermint Bay bistro and fine dining • Huonville jetboats ... to name but a few. A more comprehensive guide, complete with explanatory brochures and our own recommendations, can be found upon arrival. The NeighborhoodTranquil Bush environment Getting AroundNo public transport !

The NeighborhoodKettering is surrounded by reserves and natural attractions including Snug Falls, Conningham Beach, Trial Bay, Kettering Point and the Manuka Road Hills. It is an ideal base if you are planning to visit Bruny Island. There you can enjoy marine adventures, surfing, fishing, swimming at any of the many white sandy beaches and cliff top walks. The village offers ready access to arts, culture as well as a network of trails and tracks that wind through the bush and coastal reserve. A country sports oval lies in the centre of the village and slopes down to the waterfront. Adjacent to the oval are other recreational facilities including an excellent skateboard park, large community hall, barbecue area, children’s playground, tennis courts, community garden and bush reserve. Kettering village offers several dining establishments including its very own chocolatier. The Oyster Cove Inn is an excellent place to sit on the deck with a drink and watch the boats dock into the marina with their day’s catch. One of Tasmania's finest restaurants can be found around the bend at Peppermint Bay, alternately drive over Woodbridge Hill along the world-renowned Huon Trail for wine and fresh produce to create a gourmet feast of your own. Walks Waterfront - You can walk to the waterfront by following a rough path that zigzags down the hillside of the property. The last 10m section is steep and may involve some scrambling down makeshift log stairs. The shore is rocky and there are lots of oysters so wear protective footwear when wading or swimming. d’Meuer Track You will find an excellent walking track which passes beneath a little bench seat below the “private property sign” at the bottom of our property -turn left and walk along the track to Steps Cove for more lovely views and wildlife sightings or head right to Ferry View Jetty. Snug Falls -There is a nice walk to Snug falls which is close by, it is fairly tame by Tasmanian standards - good for a picnic. Take the turnoff on your left when you enter Snug and follow the road for some kilometres. Don't miss the car park which is on your left - the walk is all downhill which means its all uphill on the way back! The main bedroom has a queen size bed and views of the water. The other 2 bedrooms each has a bunk with a single bed on the upper level and a queen bed below. The house is bright and airy with large windows in the living and dining rooms. There is a wood heater in the lounge room, plus and electric heater. There is a secure section of the yard for dogs, and the beach is also dog friendly. The property is flat with several outside sitting areas. Garden Island Sands is located between the D'Entrecasteaux Channel and the mouth of The Huon River. There is plenty to do if you care to aimlessly take a drive about the area or simply explore the coastline from home. There is direct beach access from the property through a narrow strip of reserve. It is a less well known location to hide away and enjoy the peace and tranquility of a fully self contained home by the water. In particular, Garden Island Sands has been traditionally a place that has seen only a handful of generations holiday and reside here. It has no through traffic to concern any parents and the beach is very child friendly. We look forward to letting you in on a well kept secret. Activities: Small boats are able to be launched at Garden Island Sands. Larger boats need to travel to Charlotte Cove, 5km away for launching. If you have a penchant for fishing for flathead, bream, salmon, trevalley or baracouta, don't forget to take a rod or line. The area is excellent for canoes and kayaks as there are coves, private beaches, creeks and islands to explore. The beach is perfect for small children as it is very shallow. Garden Island Creek is also a favourite spot for children to swim in the summer. You can walk 300 metres around the rocks to Secret Beach, or drive to Randalls Bay or Verona Sands, both of which are around 7km away. 11km away is the beautiful township of Cygnet where there are first class restaurants, artists, shops, pubs, churches and wineries nearby. 20km away is Kettering where the ferry to Bruny Island departs. Some wonderful restaurants between Kettering and Garden Island Sands including Fleurtys where you can wander around the sculpture trail amongst the hills at Birches Bay. A wonderful hand-made chocolate shop can be found in Kettering - a must for chocolate lovers. Grandvewe Cheesery is another wonderful restaurant and cheese tasting place to visit in Birches Bay. Wonderful walks are also accessible from Garden Island Sands.

The NeighborhoodBruny Island offers a fantastic mix of scenery, including dramatic coast lines, untouched forests and stunning beaches. Plan your trip to enjoy a diverse range of experiences including bushwalking, boating, spending time at the many beautiful beaches and observing the islands bird and wildlife or simple kick back and relax. HISTORY The story of Bruny Island:In 1773 Tobias Furneaux, who was exploring the coastline with Captain James Cook, anchored his vessel, the Adventure (after whom the island's main bay has been named), off the island's coast. Four years later on 26 January, 1777 Cook sailed the Resolution and Discovery into Adventure Bay and stayed for two days. His contact with the Aborigines who lived on the island was amicable. In 1788, Captain Bligh anchored the Bounty in Adventure Bay and planted some seeds. It is claimed that Bligh was responsible for Tasmania’s apple industry. He returned in 1792. Bruny Island and the waterway between the Island and mainland Tasmania, however, is named for the French explorer, Bruni D'Entrecasteaux, who first explored the area in 1792. Getting AroundOnly hotel and bottle shop on the island is only a few minutes drive away or a leisurely walk along the beach Other Things to NoteSwimming and surfing Adventure Bay and Jetty Beach provide safe, sheltered areas for swimming, while Cloudy Bay is a popular spot for experienced surfers. Bruny Island Cruises Enjoy an unforgettable day aboard Rob Pennicott's multi-award winning Bruny Island Cruises, provider of Tasmania's leading wilderness and wildlife adventure cruise, winner of Tasmania's Best Tourist Attraction in 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 & 2012 and voted one of the Greatest 100 Trips of the World. Join Bruny Island Cruises Full Day Tour (departing Adventure Bay) aboard a custom designed boat for a 50km, three hour cruise along the coastline of Bruny Island. Spend a full three hours travelling along Bruny Island's rugged Southern Tasmanian coastline to spot the island's abundant sea and coastal wildlife such as seals, dolphins, whales, albatross and other seabirds. Sit at the bottom of Bruny Island's towering sea cliffs, feel the joy of being surrounded by 1000s of seals and watching dolphins surf on the bow wave of the boat. (website (URL HIDDEN) Bruny Island Wildlife Bruny Island provides diverse habitat for a range of land and sea wildlife. Sea based wildlife you may encounter see include sea eagles, dolphins, albatross, shearwaters, and seals. Little Penguin / Fairy Penguin The Little Penguin or Fairy Penguin is the smallest of the 17 penguin species. These flightless birds are best seen at The Neck Game Reserve between dusk and dawn. During the day they are out at sea catching food for themselves and their chicks. The penguins' streamlined body allows them to glide through the water at speed, meaning they can be hard to spot when onboard our cruise. White Wallaby The White Wallaby is a rare wallaby found on southern Bruny Island. It is known as a painted wallaby, as it is a few genes short of being pure albino. Albino or painted species are usually very vulnerable to natural predators. However as the White Wallabies have few predators on Bruny Island, they have managed to breed and increase their numbers. This is fantastic for all who would like to get a glimpse of this rare species. For more wildlife information visit (website (URL HIDDEN) Walks on Bruny Island From 5 minutes to full day walks, Bruny Island offers breathtaking scenery including dramatic coastlines, enchanted rainforests and tranquil beaches. The SpaceOur cabin provides a relaxing haven for two people in a peaceful coastal and rural location. The cabin is a small building close to the main farmhouse. It consists of three rooms: in the larger room are a double bed, wardrobe, sofa and dining table, and, in an alcove, the kitchen. In the smaller rooms are the bathroom and separate toilet. All bedding, linen, crockery and utensils are provided. We will provide breakfast provisions - including tea and coffee, cereal, milk, bread, seasonal fruit from our garden, and home-made jam. Wireless internet is available, but mobile phone coverage is poor. Guest AccessGuests have their own space - the cabin. Guests are welcome to wander around the farm, to say hello to the alpacas and sheep, but must be careful to close all gates. Interaction with GuestsAs hosts, we will welcome you and show you the flat, and show you around the farm if you are interested. You might like to help feed the alpacas. One of us is usually at home, out on the farm or in the house next door to the cabin. We are sensitive to guests' privacy, but equally we like to have a chat and a cuppa, or a glass of the fruit wine we produce, and try to make guests feel at home. We are very happy to advise guests on local sightseeing options, places to eat etc. The NeighborhoodWe live on a 70 acre farm in a beautiful coastal area of southern Tasmania. Please note: we are not on Bruny Island; the ferry is about a 20 minute drive away. Daytrips around the Huon and Channel areas are great from here; or Hobart and surrounds - but further away is a bit too far. There is a lot of native wildlife, such as pademelons (small wallabies) as well as birds. Shops, cafes, post office and other services are in Cygnet, a lovely small town about 10 km away. The lower Huon-Channel area has a lot to experience, including excellent food, lovely scenery and walks, swimming in summer, art galleries, the works! From the farm, it is lovely to go for a walk down to the bay, and around the shore (at low tide); there are also other spectacular bays and beaches not far away. This is a rural area, with no close neighbours except for some cows. There is a small settlement by the bay, about 600 metres from the farm. Getting AroundThere is no public transport in the local area. Buses run between Hobart and Cygnet (only a few per day). We are happy to drive guests to and from the bus, but it is best to have your own vehicle, or bicycle, to be able to experience what this beautiful area has to offer. Other Things to NotePlease book at least 24 hours in advance. From Hobart - about 50 minutes' drive; longer if it is dark. If you drive straight through from the airport, it takes about 1 hr 10 minutes; best to allow 1 hr 30. Please plan to arrive before sunset, as we live in a country area on a dirt road; it is very dark at night and there are a lot of native animals on the road and our driveway.

Resolution Vineyard House is a beautiful, open plan home away from home, with spectacular 270 degree views across the water to Bruny Island, up to Mt Wellington, and south to Fluted Cape on South Bruny, and beyond. It is set in a 7 hectare vineyard which has been producing award winning Pinot Noir wine for the last 5 years. The master bedroom has a super-kingsized bed, with views to the east and south. The second bedroom has two large single beds and views to the south. The kitchen-lounge area are open plan, making the most of the beautiful scenery. We are located on the d'Entrecasteaux Channel south of Hobart - an amazingly spectacular part of the world, with historical ties to Captain Cook and the discovery of Australia. Resolution is very reasonably priced and specialises in making you welcome - you won't want to leave. Resolution is the perfect place to stay while you explore southern Tasmania, being close to Hobart, National Parks, the Tahune Airwalk, mountains and the sea...we've mentioned that Bruny Island is just across the water already :-). We are also just a few minutes from the beach which has a jetty for fishing lovers, a playground for the children and a lovely beach. Come and find out for yourself. Resolutuion Vineyard House is situated on the north edge of the village of Middleton. Middleton is on the d'Entrecasteux Channel which flows from south of Hobart, between Bruny Island and the "mainland" (of Tas!) and down to the Recerche Archipelago and out to the open ocean. It used to be a favourite route for the tall ships and trading clippers in Tasmania's early days, because the waters are sheltered by Bruny Island. The surrounding area was one of the most prolific parts of Tasmania for apples and soft fruits, and even though apple production has changed, it is still highly productive. The village itself has a shop which is well stocked and owned by David and Louise, and a Post Office which Shirley runs with great charm and efficiency. There is a boat ramp and children's playground at Middleton Beach, oh, and a tennis court at the community grounds just near the beach. Middleton is an ideal location from which to explore the rest of southern Tasmania. Apart from mountains, National Parks and beautiful wilderness not far away, we have beaches, ideal fishing spots, hiking and cycling opportunities. We have award winning wineries and eateries in the vicinity, and wonderful places to purchase locally made produce. Resolution's own Pinot Noir has been a consistent award winner since the first harvest; and there are other stunning vineyards not far away. It is beautiful, one of the most scenically attractive places you'll come across. Resolution Vineyard House overlooks the water, is surrounded by beautiful hills and gently undulating countryside with pastures and farms and you can see Mt Wellington to the north, and way down to Fluted Cape on South Bruny Island to the south.
