The SpaceThe Art Room is a one off. The first time people go in there, they gasp, and ask us why we don't use it as our bedroom. We tell them it's too beautiful to live in; so we let other people stay there and make sure it stays unspoilt. It's 18' wide and 30' long, with a painted ceiling of a summer sky. With windows on three sides, there is light coming in from dawn till dusk. The big picture windows give uninterrupted views for over 20 miles south towards hills and valleys untouched by human hand. And for those who love sweeping staircases, you haven't lived till you ascend (or descend) our amazing staircase, which is crying out for a magnificent entrance, complete with ball gown or tuxedo. Guest AccessGuests have the use of a toilet and shower downstairs. Towels available if you don't bring them. You can have tea/coffee in the kitchen in the morning. The rest of the house is off limits. Interaction with GuestsWe are easy either way - we can be friendly or leave people in peace. The NeighborhoodSouthstoke is an extraordinary village. 10 minutes from the centre of Bath, we are also in the middle of the countryside, completely quiet, with no roads nearby, wonderful walks on your doorstep, and views 20 miles south. We are situated on a south-facing hillside, flooded with light all day long. There are owls, woodpeckers, deer and all manner of wildlife in the 5 acre garden and beyond. It is truly unspoilt. Getting AroundThere is a bus that goes in and out of town every 20 minutes; it is less than 10 minutes walk to and from the bus stop. Other Things to NoteThere is an excellent pub with good food about 5 minutes away. There is plenty of parking at the house.

The SpaceThis is such a gorgeous flat, that sometimes we wish we lived in it. The views are to die for, and all the rooms are full of light, with plenty of room. The house is very close to Bath (10 mins max), but also in the countryside, so you can go out of the door and walk into the countryside. You have your own entrance, and there is plenty of parking space. There is a bedroom with a double bed, while the other has a bed which can be either a double or 2 singles. There is also a beautiful 5 acre garden. It would be possible to sleep an extra person if they were happy to sleep in the sitting room; or a travel cot could go in one of the bedrooms (we have a travel cot). If you are a larger party, we have another room which will take 2 people, on the floor below. There is also a summer house in the garden. Guest AccessYou have your own kitchen with cooker, fridge, dishwasher, washing machine, condenser dryer, cutlery, cooking equipment etc etc. There is a television and dvd player, and I have a few hundred dvds you can choose from. The flat is all yours. Interaction with GuestsWe are happy to be friendly, and happy to leave people in peace. We will usually be in the house, which is below the flat. The NeighborhoodSouthstoke is one of the most beautiful (and popular) villages in the area. It's south-facing, looking out over 20 miles of hills and valleys with almost no sign of human habitation. Our house was built in 1848. The village is on the doorstep of Bath but also right next door to unspoilt countryside, where you can walk for miles without seeing anyone. It's an amazingly peaceful spot, and you will hear owls at night and woodpeckers in the morning. Getting AroundThe no 13 bus is about 7 minutes from our house and goes in and out of Bath every 20 minutes (takes about 10 minutes except in the rush hour). There's plenty of parking at the house. It takes about 40 minutes to drive from Bristol airport. Other Things to NoteAlthough there are 2 flat roofs adjacent to the flat, they are not be touched. One belongs to our neighbours, the other is only in good nick because no one ever walks on it.

The SpaceThis is Airbnb in the way it was originally intended - ordinary people renting out their own private space when they weren't using it. This house is our main home which we let on airbnb when we are away. It is not a five star boutique hotel. It has a fully equipped kitchen and tea, coffee, milk and cereal will be left for you as well as all the basics needed for cooking if you want them. Fresh towels and bed linen are included, beds are made up for you. There is soap in the bathroom but please bring your own shampoo etc. There is a designated car parking space in private car park to right of property. I have tried to make the listing accurate but am always glad of suggestions for improvement! Guest AccessFor this listing the whole house is available excluding the study. Interaction with GuestsWe are usually not too far away and our mobile numbers are provided if you need us. The NeighborhoodSmall village, friendly with two pubs, a garage and post office/shop. Getting AroundBuses run every hour into Bath or Frome. Other Things to NoteThe major down side with this house for some guests is the free range chickens which are almost completely feral. They sleep up the trees and although we feed them and collect eggs (if we can find them), they remain entirely undisciplined, refusing to sleep in their house. Consequently the cockerel crows with gay abandon at dawn and may wake you up. Also, as this is an ordinary home, there may be the odd spiders web and dusty corner. We do our best to make it clean and tidy for guests but are busy people. If you need holiday inn style cleanliness then there are plenty of professional landlords listing places on Airbnb but this will of course, be reflected in the price.

There is an en suite bathroom and the bath is a lovely cast-iron roll-top. Guest AccessGuests are welcome to walk around our beautiful garden and the fields, where our sheep graze, and to use the tennis court and, in summer, the heated swimming pool, obviously at your own risk. Interaction with GuestsThere will always be someone here to welcome you. I will leave breakfast in the fridge for you. And a toaster! There's a kettle etc in the room but I shall bring you coffee, tea and warm croissants at whatever time you choose in the morning. The NeighborhoodCombe Hay is a charming village, 15 minutes from Bath. Across the lane is a wonderful gastropub, The Wheatsheaf. In the next village, Wellow, a couple of miles away and perfect walking distance, is another lovely pub, The Fox and Badger, which serves lunch and dinner. Getting AroundA couple of miles away is a park-and-ride, should you want to get into the city and not worry about parking. A taxi costs £15 to Bath. Other Things to NoteThe room has Wifi and and facilities to make tea and coffee.
