The SpaceIf you want a taste of both the country and the city, our little 1830's house, with wide hardwood floors is in the perfect spot for you to enjoy both worlds! The house dates back to the 1830's or earlier. The room you'd be staying in is upstairs adjacent to our room.(must be able to walk up stairs) and has a large queen bed, brand new mattress, warm comforter, and fluffy pillows.
Because our house is older, when you walk onto the wide plank floors, they may creek a bit. The doors creak too. Also, another interesting feature of the home is the lower ceilings on the second floor, where you'll be sleeping. If you are 6 1/2 feet, your head will be touching the ceiling! We have a shy but very sweet cat, who may visit you or hide under the bed. The bathroom/shower room is shared with us, but there is a downstairs powder room you can use as well. Guest AccessYou will have access to your bedroom, the downstairs powder room, and access to the upstairs shared shower. The dinning room is for you to use to eat any meals, as well as our outdoor patio. You may store things in the refrigerator or freezer. You may use the microwave and any utensils/ plates/ glasses. Please ask before using anything else in the kitchen. Please no cooking full meals.
We provide you with clean linens, full body towels and hand towels/wash cloths, as well as shampoo and (website hidden) of soap or body wash for showers. We ask you please hang your towels to dry after use so you can reuse the same towel. We try to be friendly in conserving water. Unless you stay with us for a week, please no using the washer machine. There is a very close laundry mat if you are desperate. Interaction with GuestsWe will try to be there when you arrive but as we both work, it depends. If not, we'll have the keys in a lock box and will give you the code just before you arrive. You can interact with us as much or little as you would like. We are friendly and interested in our guests! The NeighborhoodWe LOVE that we can walk to get dinner or drinks within 10 minutes in down town!!! Also, a 7 minute walk to the Metro North Train (New Haven Line) into Grand Central Station. (90 Minutes into NYC) There is a duck pond behind the lovely town hall. The beach is a 20 minute walk or a 10 minute bike ride! For those who have a car, quick drive to mall and other stores ( We have just about everything, it's route 1)You can stay in Milford and walk around our little town green and enjoy some great local restaurants and businesses, such as Bistro Basque ( an authentic Basque Tapas style restaurant), Cafe Atlantic (Delicious Panini's and large salads), Stone Bridge (fine dining / bar scene with large outdoor patio and bar) SBC (great food and drinks), Rainbow Gardens (right down the street from us, amazing panoply of food, and my favorite cocktail the Flirtini), Eli's is a great place for draft beers and yummy apps and entrees, it's a cool scene. Hertz, Other Things to NoteThe controls for the heat/ air are downstairs, it's not room by room, unfortunately. So if it is too cold or hot, please let us know. We will also be happy to show you how to use the thermostat if we are not home. The floors are creaky in certain areas and the staircase upstairs is narrow and slightly steep. The interior doors are latch doors. There is no means to lock them. We have a cat who may curl up with you!
