The SpaceThe big draw here is that this pop-up sits on a peaceful spot smack-dab in the middle of Ohio's Amish country. The surrounding farmland is gorgeous, but the cool culture, unique shops and homestyle restaurants are also great. Keep in mind that this is camping, not luxury accommodations. But it's sweet camping! We have lots of nature here, both wild and domestic, so if you're not a fan of living things, this spot might not be for you. Nothing dangerous, though. We cannot be held responsible for creatures who try to snuggle with you at night. We keep the edges wild here. Birds, bees, spiders, crickets, and our own domesticated and farm animals are our friends. We strive for symbiotic relationships with other creatures, so our place is not manicured and pristine, but it's welcoming and comfortable. We strive to be as chemical-free as possible and also live with the future of our planet in mind. As for the neighborhood: this is truly a place where people will wave to you as you drive down the street. Roads are occupied by cars, horses, bikes and buggies, so please use caution. Fall is gorgeous, with corn and wheat shocks, farmers tilling fields and hillsides bright with color. Spring and summer are so GREEN! There's plenty to do all around the county. Do a web search for Holmes County, Ohio, if you don't believe me! But there's also so much peace that this is a great place to come and think, create art, write or just relax. There's space for extra tents (an additional $5 per night, limit of 5 tents). Make arrangements directly with me for these extra options. Check-in time varies since the hubby and I work other jobs. Be sure to confirm arrival time. If arrangements are made 24 hours in advance, the shower and toilet in the house (a few minutes' walk away from the popup) are open to guests. We love, love, love meeting new people. If you're up for visiting, let us know and if we're available, we can sit around the fire ring or on the porch at the house and chat. We're a busy family, so we can't always be available to receive guests, but if you read the directions carefully, you should find the place with no problem. We live in a very rural area where most of the neighbors are Old Order Amish, but, even so, there are several restaurants, sights, shops and bakeries within just a mile of the site. Some of the best baked good around can be found right around the corner! Just keep in mind that most things are closed on Sunday and the majority of places roll up the sidewalk by 6 pm. Be sure to check out Millers' Bakery for freshly-made donuts and cinnamon rolls the size of your head, cheese tarts, fry pies and homemade breads. Hershberger's Truck Patch, about three miles from the site, offers seasonal produce, baked goods, local syrups and cheeses, locally made gifts and outdoor furniture. They have a large selection of local and international cheeses, fondue pots and cuckoo clocks. Across the street from the cheesehouse is the Guggiserberg-owned Chalet in the Valley Restaurant, featuring traditional Swiss and Austrian cooking. About two miles from the site is Keim Lumber, one of the most impressive home improvement, hardware, gift and garden store and lumber yard around. Woods from around the world, hand tools and power tools, remodeling supplies and displays and more. It's a must-see. Across from Keim Lumber is Charm Harness and Boot, with more than 18,000 shoes and boots in stock, and excellent customer service, plus footwear for all ages from brands like Born, Columbia, Crocs, Justin, Merrell, Red Wing Shoes, Timberland, Uggs and many more. The SpaceTrue Nature is a holistic country retreat where body, mind & heart can be nourished and renewed. We have created a vital space in nature for real healing and transformation with the help of arts like Breema®, Yoga, Massage Therapy, meditation, delicious organic meals and B & B and cabin lodging. We specialize in retreats for singles and couples, and guests can upgrade their stay with us to include classes, massage and bodywork treatments and organic vegetarian meals. This is a great place for anyone wishing to make changes in his or her life or to heal and reflect. We (Alana and Dave) are dedicated practitioners of the arts we teach, and what we offer comes out of our own experience. We have two lodging options: The Pond Cabin, which is the listing you are currently looking at. This is an off-grid cabin that is so intimately connected to nature that you'll hear and feel the breeze, watch deer walk past your window and settle into an Amish-made porch rocker for a front row experience of Ohio country. We’re excited to announce that our pond cabin is now available as lodging from late April through mid-October. This sweet area includes a porch with comfortable chairs, a picnic table and a firepit. Plus, it is right beside our spring-fed pond and tucked far enough back on the property to help you go deeper into your retreat. The cabin sleeps 3, and has a main room with a futon and a small bedroom with bunk beds. A third small room has been dedicated as a space for meditation and prayer. Multiple walls are finished with natural clay plaster, which gives it a warm, earthy feeling. The bathroom is located in a separate cabin with a sink and composting toilet, and is just a few steps away from the pond cabin. Guests staying at the pond cabin also have access to a private, enclosed outside shower which is close to the main house. Depending on how busy we are with in-house guests, cabin guests may also be able to use the hydrotherapy shower in the main house. The cabin has a beautiful quiet to it, and you won’t hear the buzz of electricity. Amish-made, battery-powered lights are provided. The second lodging option is a private bedroom, in the main house. The house has a lot of hand-made oak woodwork, built-in shelves and skylights in almost every room upstairs. (See our other Air b and b listing for more details on this option.) Guests enjoy the quiet here, as we are located in the country. It is common to see and hear Amish buggies along the roads, which are great for walks through farmland and forests. We're located in Millersburg, just an hour and a half drive from Cleveland and Columbus - this is the heart of Amish Country- Holmes County. Guest AccessGuests can arrange to have access to our classroom, which includes yoga props and meditation cushions. (Additional one-on-one and group classes can be scheduled or you can drop-in to a scheduled class.) Guests also have space to explore on our property surrounded by forest, and without another house in sight. Relax by the pond in warmer months on a bench or spread a blanket in the grass. The small country roads make for a beautiful walk during any season, with views of rolling hills and Amish homesteads. Interaction with GuestsWe live in the downstairs of the main house, but we give guests the space they need. The cabin is very secluded. It is possible to schedule individual meditation, yoga, massage therapy and bodywork sessions with us, but you can have as much solitude as you like. The NeighborhoodThe land here has a purity and beauty here that encourages a person to simply relax and enjoy it. It is a quiet place, and the main neighbors you'll meet are birds, squirrels, turkeys, etc... At the same time, we are just a 15 minute drive away from Berlin, the main town for tourist shops and only about a 7 minute drive from Millersburg. Getting Around Parking is included - In fact you'll park right at our place. Other Things to NoteJust a reminder that this listing is for cabin lodging. For B and B lodging in the main house, please see our other Air b and b listing.
