The SpaceOur home is nestled on an acre lot in the Mioli'i area featuring fruit trees, native plants, and flowers, as well as breath taking sunsets. An hour from Kailua-Kona and an hour from Volcano, our location is perfect for the adventurous type who want to get out and see the island! The room has its own private entrance and private bathroom. The room is made cozy with a full bed, fresh linens, and features a frig, micro, drinking water, and coffee pot. A welcome package is our way of saying "mahalo" to our guests. The room is equipped with TV with Direct TV, and guest wifi. We have snorkel gear, body boards, pool noodles, a cooler, and beach towels available for use. Guests are welcome to explore the property, checking out the various fruit trees and the pineapple patch. However, it is rough lava rock and we encourage taking care when walking around. We work to have needs met before arrival but if there is anything a guest needs we can do our best to make it available. My husband and I live in the main part of the house full time. We work out of the home, but one of us is typically around. We are available for questions and to assist in anyway we can. We will not enter the space during the stay unless incase of emergency or if asked to by the guests. We live in Mioli'i above the only fishing village left in the state. It is a quiet neighborhood and most of us rise and fall with the sun, going to bed early and waking up early to get the most out of the day. There are stunning sunsets and star gazing at night. We live a few miles up the road from Honomalino Bay, a black sand beach where dolphins frequent. From our lanai whales can be seen playing during the winter time. Renting a car would be necessary to stay in this area, parking is available. We have two very friendly dogs named Ximen (chi-men) and Eme who love to interact with people. Ximen will often greet you when coming home and loves affection and to be pet. They are kept on the lanai when we are not home, with closed gates. The SpacePOI*13 Located in Captain Cook. Milolii is one of the last, and oldest fishing villages in Hawaii. This private getaway is well worth the drive down the mountain. The home sits on the flats of Milolii with an expansive ocean view, walking distance from the water. (Approximately 2 blocks- there is NOT sand beach access from here) Many enjoy the snorkeling from here often referred to as "Da'Rock". (Mother nature and tide permitting.) During season the whales are easily spotted by the naked eye from the huge screened lanai of this cottage. The soft melodies of birds, with ocean waves can be enjoyed throughout the day in the lush gardens surrounding the home. Sophisticated creativity, peace and class are all interwoven throughout this special retreat. Stepping away from the busyness of our world into another place is easy when you are here! Guest AccessGuest will have access to surf boards, snorkel gear, coolers, beach chairs, boogie boards, fruit on the property (when ripe during your stay: many variations of mango trees for multiple fruiting seasons in the garden), DVD collection, Smart TV with access to your Netflix, Hulu, You Tube, WIFI, games, puzzles, yoga mats, books to enjoy while visiting, BBQ, picnic table in garden, full kitchen including a coffee maker, VATAMIX, and bread maker, microwave and full oven/stove. The perfect place to plan to grocery shop, head down the mountain to disconnect, while still having all the amenities of home, you've found the right place to escape. The Neighborhood2 out of the top 5 snorkeling spots in all of the Hawaii islands are within 20 miles. (URL HIDDEN) Getting AroundYou will need a car Other Things to Note*The drive down from HWY 11 onto Milolii Dr. may be more easily navigated during the day for the first time. (Consideration for flights) Several twist and turns, take it slow and enjoy the ride. Well worth it to be on the flats we refer to as, "the edge of the world" *All properties in Milolii are on a rain water catchment system. Ours is triple filtered. Tenant is responsible for the purchase of their own bottled water and consumables. *There is a house journal in the living area, please take a moment to leave your mark. *CODE: for accessing the keys will be provided prior to arrival via email. KEY LOCKBOX: located by outside sink in the driveway. *WIFI: "Adventure House" Password provided prior to check in via email *Please recycle: We're on an island! We've made it easy for you with separate receptacles inside and out for trash/recycling. *Help us keep the price for enjoyment of these amenities so low!!! Please conserve energy by turning off lights and fans when not at home. The average price on the mainland for energy is $.11/kwh In Hawaii it is over $.50/kwh *We do not have plastic bags given for shopping on the island. You can purchase reusable bags at the store, or bring a couple in the outside pouch of your suitcase. This will make it easy to get to for your shopping prior to making your way home the first-time. (Side note: I bring foldable insulated bag for first shopping (and hikes) to keep groceries cool) Mahalo, Tim and Jenn We are so pleased you've picked our happy place to stay!
