Situated on a private 58 acres and carefully restored over 18 months, "The Cottage" is reminiscent of turn of the century agricultural structures originally found throughout the South. The cottage is comfortable and unique containing period correct artifacts and art. From the massive oak framing, to the tongue and groove walls, beadboard ceilings and variety of pine hardwood flooring, this structure was built to stand the test of time. The builder and former owner was one of the first individuals to document plant and animal life in this part of East Texas and at a time when the area was growing and changing rapidly. A naturalist and rancher, this 58 acre retreat was his "Walden". Homestead Cottage housed his woodworking shop and the upstairs loft was his study where he filed his naturalist diaries and records going back to the 30's. He also was the original recycler and would store items collected from decades of salvaging and recylcling in the many outbuildings of the Homestead. The renovation, which was started in early 2009, attempted to use as many of these materials as possible to retain the character of the structure and continue to reflect the spirit of the original builder. If you like to cook you will love our country Kitchen! Modern amenities have been added to the house to provide guests with a comfortable stay, including a full kitchen, modern bathroom and central heat and air, but the house retains its early agricultural and naturalist roots.

In Japanese the word 'Sugoi' means 'perfect' and there is no better way to describe the experience you will have when you visit Sugoi Lakes Lodge & Resort. Just over an hour's drive from the Dallas-Fort Worth airport, the Resort sits on 58 very private acres. The main lodge sits comfortably nestled in a lush grove of trees, overlooking the two lakes. The cantilevered construction of the mid-lake pagoda provides its visitors with an unobstructed view. The pagoda is a perfect destination for a late-night stroll, or for one seeking a moment of daytime solitude. A small fleet of four one man bass boats stands ready for action. Whether for an hour or a day, the stable craft will comfortably accommodate one fisherman per boat. From the moment you enter the doors of the great room you will be encompassed with a feeling of welcome and relaxation. Whether you come for a corporate retreat, a wedding, a girls or guys getaway, a training seminar, a family reunion or just a long weekend with the family you will find all of your needs met here. The great room has abundant seating so that your group can join together to catch up on the day's activities or just relax together in front of the wide screen entertainment center. The fully appointed kitchen will be ready for that gourmet chef in your group or just comfortable enough to pass out pizza after a long day of fishing on the lakes. The Lodge is equipped with free WIFI for those last minute emails before heading out for the day. Both the great room and the walkabout porch offer a full view of the Resort's two lakes and all the fishing fun, whether from boat or bank.
