It is located in Mission, KS- which a cute little residential area slightly South and West of the Country Club Plaza area of Kansas City, MO.
From here, hop on Shawnee Mission Parkway and you'll be on the Country Club Plaza in minutes. Or, head South for the Overland Park Convention Center (sounds lame, but many conferences in the KC Metro are held here), or jump on the highway for Downtown KC in 20 minutes. Westport, The Nelson Art Gallery, and other KC mainstays are all central to this location within 15-20 minutes.
At the end of the block, there are several local shops and coffee shops (the antique stores and Twisted Sister Coffee are the best!), so you'll have plenty to explore in downtown Mission. IKEA is just 10 minutes away!
I have a parking lot with the building- and the neighborhood is SUPER safe (Police Station is just down the street!) and very quiet.
The space is on the 2nd floor, and when you enter there is a modern and cozy lounge area, with vintage comfy chairs and bar seating.
Also in the common area there is a kitchen where you'll find what you need- pots, pans, a full size fridge, microwave, toaster over, and 2-burner electric range.
The Gray Room is cozy and warm, with a mix of modern and antique furnishings and hardwood floors. There is a new, comfortable queen sized bed with memory foam topper bed on a platform, with original built-in shelving and a closet.
There is also a desk and chair making a nice work area, and a couch and a vintage steamer trunk as coffee table in a sitting area- it's quite a large room with it's own little office and hang-out area.
Yellow room is mustard yellow with a vintage bed (it's a shorter frame- will not be long enough for guests over 5'8"), dresses, antique chair. side table, and closet.
I love meeting new people and hearing their travel stories. I have previously run three Airbnb listings in KC and Lawrence, and have traveled throughout Europe and across the US staying with other Airbnb hosts and look forward to helping make your stay awesome!
Often I will have my small pomeranian downstairs with me during work or staying overnight. He will bark when you come in!
For safety, I only host guests with completed and verified profiles, profile pic, and references! Please fill these out before you submit your request to be otherwise it will be denied. Guest AccessBathroom, Kitchen, and sitting area are mostly private. We ask that you keep these areas tidy.
I have clients in the shop downstairs by appointment only, typically between 10 and 7. Please keep noise down during these hours- sound does carry through the old wood floors.
For this reason, we prefer guests who are more out and about during the day rather than those who would stir up a ruckus during our bride's meetings downstairs during the day. Interaction with GuestsI'm pretty busy with my business and travel, but love to meet guests and give you a personal walk-through of the space when I'm available.
I enjoy getting to know new people and find the exchanges interesting! The NeighborhoodQuiet and safe are the main features of my area! Downtown Mission is a throwback to a 1950's shopping district, with coffee shops and boutiques in walking distance. There is a great public pool a block away, and a community center with an indoor pool and gym.
It's exceedingly quiet and tree-lines neighborhood, safe for evening strolls.
Also check out my other KC listing by the Plaza in KCMO only 15 minutes away that is a huge loft with a fenced yard (view my profile to see my other listings) called "Eco Awesome Urban Nest" Getting AroundThere is a bus system (Johnson County), but this area is best visited by car if you really want to get out an explore KC, which is a pretty spread out city compared to most. Many guests have used Uber from this location as well!
The airport is North of KC and about an hour from the city and this listing. Other Things to NoteKitchen amenities: Full sized fridge, 2 burner counter top hot plates, and a toaster oven. We have plates, silverware, and everything else you should need to prepare a meal. There is no microwave or TV in the space, although there is a microwave downstairs I can bring up for you by request.
