During the week, I'm around in the evenings. I am glad to offer recommendations to area restaurants, site-seeing, hiking, etc. My horses are super friendly - they love to be petted and scratched (they're basically like giant golden retrievers). The NeighborhoodThere are some great places to eat in the wider neighborhood, including the Lakeview House, Cafe Mio (great brunch), the Gunkhaus (fabulous German food and beer), and the Racoon Saloon. Within about 20 minutes of the house are DIA:Beacon and the charming downtown of Beacon, five or six wineries, Tuthilltown Distillery, the Newburgh Waterfront and Washington's Headquarters, New Paltz, the Mohonk Preserve, and Storm King Art Center. The SpaceThe space provides for a green experience. The round building feels warm and welcoming, the decorations are from around the world, Guatemala, Papua New Guinea and Kyrgyzstan. We have a well equipped kitchen; but the sink is in the bathroom and we do not have a microwave. The organic mattress is thick and comfortable while the composting toilet lends to a truly green experience. The garden right out front is bursting with kale, broccoli, cucumbers, peppers, zucchini, tomatoes and more to share, when in season. Guest AccessYou have the entire yurt with kitchen, eating area, toys, games, art and craft supplies organic bed, sleeping mat available, extra foldout cot- high quality 4inch memory foam, on request. Parking is easy. The deck and garden are yours to enjoy, please be prudent in the garden and just take what you need, but right now is past its prime. You have a lovely yard with fledgling currant and blueberry bushes, a hardy kiwi arch, four apple trees and small pond in the back. You deserve a healthy indulgence. Interaction with GuestsMy husband Rod and I will be available to answer any questions that you might have. I have been living here for 20 years and my husband, his whole life. We can help you find what you are looking for, or try our best anyway! The NeighborhoodWe are close to The Gunks for climbing, Minnewaska State Park and Mohonk Preserve for enjoying the outdoors. We are in between several great places to visit- New Paltz, Gardiner, Poughkeepsie, and Newburgh. We are less than an hour and a half hours from the GW bridge in NYC. Getting AroundAround here, a car is good to have. There is taxi service if you need it though. Other Things to NoteThe space is truly a work of art and welcoming to children, but it is a studio space, so privacy for parents is very limited. We do have a privacy screen there for you to use, but it is only about 4 ft. long. Also, be sure that you are good with the idea of a composting toilet. We will keep it as clean as possible, but there is always some peat moss dust around and well, it is not a flushing toilet. It can smell a little and does create great dirt. I am excited to share the details with you. Also, there is only one sink and it is in the bathroom.

If you got out a dictionary and looked up the word 'character' you'd find a picture of this place. If only the walls could speak to us and tell us all the things this old home has seen. It's owners have taken over the care of her and are gracious enough to share her with you. Parts of the home such as the stone work and wide board floors give a hint to it's true vintage. Other parts like the new kitchen will delight your urges to create that perfect meal. You will need some fuel because you're going to be very busy here. 1820 farm house that has been kept very original. The wide board floors and all original hardware and hinges is a joy to see. The owner has tastefully furnished the inside with beautiful antiques. You'll feel like you've stepped back in time when things were soooo much less hectic. Grab a cool drink and head out to that gorgeous pool. Bring a good book and prepare to lose yourself in thoughts for awhile. If you do feel like a good walk there is around 100 acres here to explore. Take a walk back to the big pond or across the street to the creek. This old farm house has been in the same family it's whole life and the property itself goes back even further in the same family. Step inside and think back to grandmas house as a kid. The kitchen is ready for the big family meal. The open spaces allow for many comfortable spots to sit and talk, read or sneak a quick snooze! The three season porch on one end is so sweet. All of the bedrooms are very spacious and the beds oh so comfortable. I'll think you'll find that a stay at this old farm house will rejuvenate your soul. We're available all four seasons and located close to plenty of things to do. Mohonk Park is very near as is Minnewaska State Park. Between the two you could never run out of places to explore. There are endless carriage trails to walk or ride and vistas to explore with views to drool for. This old farm house will be a welcome site at the end of a busy day. We're very near the Shawangunk Ridge and all the world class rock climbing it offers. We're also in the heart of some simply gorgeous farm land and wine is huge here. Spend some time exploring the many wine trails nearby. The village of New Paltz is nearby and has several big grocery stores. The tiny village of Gardiner is very near and quite quaint. Any desire to parachute? Place close by that you can do so. I assure you that it'll be hard to leave this area and return to the daily routine. Good thing is that you can always come back!
