The SpaceThe apartment is cosy and conveniently located near bus stops and some local attractions. You'll have the place to yourself to come and go as you please within your booking. It is perfect for singles or couples who want some privacy. Interaction with GuestsThis is a self-sufficient dwelling and I often have no interaction with guests during their stay due to my work commitments. Arrangements are in place for collection and return of keys, even if you're arriving or departing during the night. Check-in is 2pm and check-out is 11am. If you need to check-in earlier than 2pm or check-out after 11am you will need to book an extra night to give time for cleaning between guests. The NeighborhoodThe nearby Rapid Creek and Nightcliff markets are a must see if you are around on a Sunday morning! Rapid Creek markets has some great local fresh produce and Asian cuisine. During the rest of the week the shops at this location continue to operate, with a good Asian food supermarket and a few takeaway food outlets. Nightcliff markets is the perfect way to start a Sunday in Darwin, with plenty of food options and some fantastic locally produced arts and crafts. Rapid Creek is within ten minutes walk, whilst Nightcliff is a little further away - you could still walk, but I recommend the bus or car during the hotter months! Getting AroundThere are several bus stops in the area - check my guidebook for more details!

The Space** Please note I Amanda do not live here but I do visit sometimes :) ** Darwin local for 25+ years Mara has a wealth of knowledge of the area and a passion for sharing it. The huge balcony is a beautiful spot for relaxing with a glass of wine or beer and talking into the night. **** Sometimes I may have extra people staying with us. Mostly in the dry season. Please check or notify me if you have an issue with this. The house is still not a party house during this time! **** There are one snake on the premises! There is a black headed python under the house. You probably won't even see him He is not poisonous!! Guest Access**** We have two airbnb rooms online. you can book them both if available for a discount (just contact) otherwise there may be other guests staying the same time. If a social home stay is not to your liking I would recommend elsewhere **** During the week we can't always be there to let you in until after four pm as we are working full time. However we try to be as flexible as possible. Just communicate! You have full access to the house & kitchen. Wifi access is available to you. There is also a desktop PC you can use for short periods We are a green house we try to conserve energy as much as possible and recycle recycle recycle! Interaction with GuestsI (Amanda) do not live at the residence. I do occasionally stop by but you might not see me. Mara(my mother) will be your host. She can leave you alone or talk your ear off, it depends on you and what interactions you are comfortable with. During the week we work full time and have many night time commitments. Mara is social and friendly and will happily take you along to our own social events if available. In the dry season we head out to Kakadu & Litchfield most weekends if you are there at the right time we will invite you. The NeighborhoodThe neighbourhood is mostly quiet, you get the odd car revving up the street but nothing extreme. Crocodylus park is within walking distance. So is Leanyer Water Park a free park for swimming and waterslides (mostly for kids but still fun for adults ;) ) Getting AroundI can offer off-street parking for one vehicle. There is a bus stop within 1 minute walking that takes you to the Casuarina Interchange in about 15 minutes and then about 20-30 minutes into the city from there. The schedule is quite lite on weekends and stops early (about 7pm) but there is a second bus stop just a little bit further that stops around 10pm Other Things to NoteThis room is mine when I am away so if you do take it chances are there is another airbnb guest in the other room and only my mother will be home. There is limited cupboard space for clothing since all my stuff is there. But it is clean and comfy :)

The SpaceWhen you rent the whole apartment either I am away or I stay at my beautiful yoga school so you have it on your own. The apartment is upstairs in a two story complex but it has it's own entrance and the living/dining room is big, bright and sunny and looks out over the sea. The whole apartment is airconditioned. The main bedroom is large, light and airy. It has a queen size bed with an ensuite and walk in wardrobe. There are two big windows looking out on tree tops and at high tide you can hear the waves coming to shore. The second bedroom is smaller but airy and bright. It has a queen size bed (futon mattress) and a wardrobe. The occupants of this bedroom use the main bedroom's ensuite shower and shared toilet. I also have the two bedrooms listed separately. If you want the big one, I stay in the small one and if you want the small one I stay in the big one :-) So it is you and I sharing, not another airbnb guest. Guest AccessThe kitchen is brand new and very well appointed; you can use cooking supply like oil, salt, spices, condiments etc.. Same with the laundry: it is well appointed and you can use the detergent. There is a swimming pool in the complex or you can walk for 15 min on a path along the sea and beaches and get to what must be the best ever located public swimming pool that has 180 degree sea view. There is no TV but wi-fi internet access and you can watch TV programs or one of my dvds on your lap top. There is yoga equipment available for you if you are that way inclined. The neighbourhood's greatest asset is a beautiful walking/cycling path that runs along ochre/orange/pink cliffs and white sand beaches and lush trees and bushes for kilometres. You can pick one of the many grassy spots to lay down your picnic and enjoy the sunset. An airport taxi ride is about $15. A pleasant 8-10 minutes walk will get you to some shops, the popular Nightcliff Sunday markets and a bus stop where you can catch a bus that will take you to the city in 15-20 minutes. If you drive yourself it would take you about 10-15 minutes to get to the city. If you book a tour with any tour company they will pick you up from the apartment. The SpaceThe apartment is upstairs in a two story complex but it has it’s own entrance and the living/dining room is big, bright and sunny and looks out over the sea. The bedroom is also big, light and airy with an en suite shower. Toilet is shared. There are two big windows looking out on tree tops and at high tide you can hear the waves coming to shore. The whole apartment including your bedroom is air conditioned. I have two other listings: one for the whole apartment and one for the smaller bedroom. If you book one of the bedrooms (big or small) I use the other bedroom. So it is you and I sharing, no other airbnb guests. Guest AccessThe kitchen is brain new and very well appointed; you can use cooking supply like oil, salt, spices, condiments etc.. Same with the laundry: it is well appointed and you can use the detergent. There is a swimming pool in the complex or you can walk for 15 min on a walking/cycling path along the sea and beaches and get to what must be the best ever located public swimming pool that has 180 degree sea view. There is no TV but internet access and you can watch TV programs or one of my dvds on your lap top. There is yoga equipment available for you if you are that way inclined. Interaction with GuestsI am a pretty quiet and non-intrusive person but love to meet people and have a chat when we both feel like it. During the day I am in and out of home and can help with any questions you may have. I teach at night so you will have the place to yourself then. I can also give you lifts here and there when I am available including picking you up and dropping you off at the airport when I can; it's just a 10 minute drive away. An airport taxi ride is about $15. The NeighborhoodThe neighbourhood's greatest asset is a beautiful walking/cycling path that runs along ochre/orange cliffs and white sand beaches and lush green trees and bushes for kilometres. You can pick one of the many grassy spots to lay down your pick nick and enjoy the sunset. Getting AroundA pleasant 8-10 minutes walk will get you to some shops and a bus stop where you can catch a bus that will take you to the city in 15-20 minutes. It would take you about 10-15 minutes to drive to the city. The popular Nightcliff Sunday markets are just a short walk away and offer great food, arts and crafts and live music. If you book a tour with any tour company they will pick you up from the apartment.

The SpaceI live alone and have a busy lifestyle, meaning you will have complete privacy from 6:30am-5:00pm during the week. I have two harmless pythons who each live in a secure enclosure in my loungeroom. I am a non-smoker and my home is drug free and queer friendly. You will be sleeping on a queen bed in your own room. Fresh towels and linen are provided for each guest. As shown in the listing photos, this is a top floor apartment and there are two flights of stairs that you will need to climb. There is no elevator or lift on the premises. Guest AccessShared loungeroom, bathroom and kitchen spaces. 24/7 access to a 12.5m shared swimming pool is included. Access to high-speed wifi is included. Smoking is not permitted indoors. Washing machine, laundry detergent, fridge and kitchen use is included. An iron and ironing board are available free of charge. Free on-street parking available ONLY. Interaction with GuestsI offer all of my guests as much or as little privacy as they prefer. I love chatting with all of my guests and often invite guests to join me on social outings. I genuinely enjoy listening to everyone's experiences and perspectives on life. I spend a lot of time at home when I'm not working, so am happy to offer advice or answer questions about your stay in Darwin. The NeighborhoodMy home is: - 15 minutes' drive from the city centre (20 minutes by bus) - 10 minutes' drive from the Northern Territory's largest shopping centre, Casuarina Square (15 minutes by bus) - one street away from local gourmet pizza, popular Indian & Thai restaurants and greek desserts - 5 minutes' walk from fresh food markets every Sunday morning, offering Asian cuisine and fresh fruit/vegetables - 5 minute drive or 15 minute walk from the beach. Darwin has some pretty impressive sunsets! Sometimes you will hear my neighbours entering and leaving their apartments, talking loudly or parking their cars, as the room faces the walkway and carpark area. If you are a light sleeper then please bring some earplugs with you. Getting AroundIf you are arriving via plane, my home is a 5 minute drive or AU$15 taxi fare from the airport. Bus services to and from the airport are infrequent, difficult to access (especially with luggage) and involves multiple transfers to get to my place, so this option is not recommended. Buses are the only public transport in Darwin; a 3 hour ticket is AU$3, or $1 for Australian students and concession holders. Weekly, daily and 10-ride cards can also be purchased on any bus, offering better value for money. The route 10 bus stops 200m from my home and runs every 20-30 minutes between Casuarina Square (the Northern Territory's largest shopping centre) and the city centre. Car rental in Australia tends to be more expensive than in other countries, and gets even more expensive if you are travelling long distances (e.g. to Litchfield or Kakadu national parks). This is because most rental companies charge very high rates for each kilometre after the first 100km. Tours and public transport are usually the cheapest option for solo travellers or couples/pairs in Darwin. Other Things to NotePlease do not contact me for bookings longer than 2 weeks, or for more than 2 people. The limits I have set are firm and refusal may offend. Guests will need to check in when I am home, between 6pm-6:30am weekdays, or propose a time for weekend arrivals. I accept late night/early morning check-ins - just let me know when you expect to arrive. Guests planning trips to Kakadu/Litchfield should book tours departing at 7am or later, as the public bus to the city doesn't run before 6:30am.
