The SpaceThis is our spacious In-Law quarters in beautiful southwest Virginia. Newly Renovated to accommodate a wheelchair, and 3 rooms include a bedroom with queen size bed, a beautifully painted ocean scene in a private bath with roll in shower and seat, a sitting area with loveseat and chair; and a counter/kitchen area equipped with coffee maker, toaster, limited dishes/cutlery, dining table, and sink. Simple, relaxed style. DirecTV and DVD player, 4G Verizon internet (some limitations due to location and data availability)
Additional persons/children may be accommodated with air mattresses, either a queen size added to the bedroom (limits accessibility) or a twin mattress in either bedroom or sitting area. (again limits handicapped accessibility)
Located in a quiet country neighborhood/sub-division with rolling hills, grazing horses and cattle, occasional deer sightings and bird species. With only a 10 minute drive to Smith Mountain Lake for boating, fishing, recreation, shopping, winery, Booker T. Washington National Park, and the Smith Mountain Lake State Park Recreation Area. Historic Bedford is a 15 minute drive, and features additional restaurants such as Liberty Station - a refurbished train station; Centertown Antiques and shopping, Elks National Home and the "must see" National D-Day Memorial. An additional short drive to Peaks of Otter for hiking, biking, wildlife, and outdoor activities, winery and orchards.
Within 40 minutes you can be in Roanoke or Lynchburg for more shopping, major chain restaurants and additional museums, theater, art, and cultural opportunities.
Roanoke is home to Black Dog Salvage Store featured on DIY network.
You will need a car for travelling in the area.
There are 4 children in the home ages 6-16, homeschooled, so there will be family noise during the day.
Home-cooked meals with/without the host family can be arranged or full kitchen is available for personal use. Blackout shades on windows for additional privacy and blocking sun if desire. Guest AccessThe full kitchen in our home is available for use, and also a deck to sit outside for sunrise or sunset. Walking the grounds, or the neighborhood is encouraged. Play equipment for kids and backyard area. Fire pit and grill is also available. Since we are a rural area, internet access is limited and spotty, depending on network availability. Interaction with GuestsThe room is completely private, located off the kitchen/garage area of our home. We love to visit and chat with guests. Mealtimes are a family affair, and guests are welcome here too. If you desire privacy - we can leave you alone too! The NeighborhoodThere is little traffic on our gravel road, and wildlife abounds! Watch for deer crossing! Cattle graze on adjacent properties. Please obey posted speed limit. Getting AroundParking is included, but there is not public transit within 20 miles.
Bramlett Road is a gravel road, but it is well maintained and in the private sub-division, with minimal traffic. Please obey posted speed limit. Other Things to NoteWe are a homeschooling family and Jesus lovers. We want to share our abundant blessings and God's love with you!
There are lots of grounds to keep up with - so we may be mowing, mulching, playing, trimming, watering etc.
