The SpaceWelcome to Madison! You're going to LOVE IT! We live on the near East side of downtown where Atwood neighborhood is just 4 blocks away. It's a very safe place, very walkable with polite, active neighbors. Your comfortable, peaceful, nature inspired bedroom is located on the first floor, right next to the bathroom of a 3 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom home. You'll have your own personal access to your room from the front patio door and your own closet. The bed is a queen size with a foam top, cotton sheets, a soft and fuzzy blanket, nice plump pillows, and a light quilt. We'll supply an extra blanket in the closet for your comfort, a dresser, a small fan for those who enjoy white noise, and an iron and ironing board. Your personal, small but modern bathroom is located right outside your bedroom door and it's stocked full of towels, shampoo, conditioner, soap and a hair dryer. We try to buy eco friendly products whenever possible. Since we have a full bath upstairs, we won't be using yours. We also have a spacious back deck with room to soak up the sun and relax. Our deck table can seat 6 so please feel free to invite your friends or family over for a meal. The living room, dining room and kitchen are all shared so feel free to make yourselves at home and put any of your food in the fridge. We have apple tv, basic cable and XBMC if you're interested in watching tv in the living room. (Briggs, our pug mix, will likely want to be by your side if you choose to do so. He loves a good show/movie) We do like to note that we had a baby in Dec 2014 so guests aren't surprised when they arrive. He sleeps with us upstairs and is generally a great toddler. Ryan works from home and our nanny, Emily, our son and another toddler will be there during the day on M, T, W and F. We offer breakfast items to those that are staying under two weeks, but we'd like our long term guests to purchase their own breakfast foods, with the exception to eggs. We have plenty of urban farm fresh eggs to go around! If all that sounds OK, then we'd love to have you! Let us know if you have any questions for us! Guest AccessIf you have a car, please park in our driveway, located behind the house on Dayton St. Your room is located just beyond the front entryway so you'll have a key to the front door, but we also supply you with a key to the back door as well. (the door we use) Interaction with GuestsWe interact with guests as our schedule and theirs allow. Most of our guests are very personable so we generally spend some time getting to know one another. We're usually pretty busy in the spring, summer and fall months so we spend a lot of time away from the home, but we like it if we're able to meet every guest. We always tell guests that our home is their home, to make themselves comfortable, help themselves to anything in the kitchen, and to let us know if they need anything at all. The NeighborhoodWe live in the Emerson neighborhood, adjacent to the Atwood and Willy St neighborhoods where there's plenty of small businesses to explore. Our neighborhood is a safe, walkable neighborhood with lots of friendly neighbors. We live in a straight, biracial, trans, family oriented and gay community and we're very proud of it. Everyone is welcome at our home and we encourage open mindedness and peace. Getting AroundWe offer our bicycles for guests to use, but we also have two bus lines near our home. One is just 1 block from our home and the other is 2.5 blocks. We've had a lot of UW students/professors and they've found it very easy to get around by bus. Other Things to NoteI'm going to make a short list of what I think you should see/do while you're here. We're a 1 car family and Cory bikes everywhere so everything we list will be bike/walk friendly. 1) Frank Lloyd Wright Monona Terrace-bike up to the terrace and walk to the rooftop. The view of Lake Monona is breathtaking. 2) Visit the capital. You can do a quick walk through to the Rotunda just to take in the view. 3) Bike down State St from the Capital. St Street is considered our shopping district and it has a lot of shops, restaurants, bars, theaters, and museums. It ends at the University square so you'll be able to see some of the college. From there you can bike (1.5 blocks) to the Union Terrace. 4) Union Terrace-Union Terrace is the University's best place for outdoor drinking/socializing. It's located right on Lake Mendota so the best time to go is right at sunset. They have some great microbrews on tap and you can order food as well. (get a brat, or two!) And don't forget to sit in the gigantic chair for a photo op! 5) Bike down to Picnic Point for the best view of Madison. It's a short 3 mile bike ride from the Union Terrace and it follows Lake Mendota the whole way. 6) Madison has some of the best restaurants in the US, seriously. We have the most diverse restaurants per capita in the US, so it all depends on what type of food you like. My fav locations are Old Fashioned, Graze, Marigolds, Sardine, Coopers Tavern, Weary Traveler, and Ha Long Bay.

The SpaceThis is the perfect lake house getaway. Our property offers the best of all worlds. We are on a 3000 acre, 35 foot deep lake with all the sporting activities you can hope for with tons of conservation land all around so you feel like you are up north. The good news is that we are 2 hours from Chicago, 70 mins from Milwaukee and most importantly only 6 miles to capital and UW- Madison campus in downtown Madison. The entertainment and dining options are endless in a place like Madison. The house itself offers both the feel of a northwoods cabin, but with brand new super modern bathrooms and a 1 year old kitchen. Our house was built in the late 1800s as an ice house. It retains all of the charm of the original knotty pine walls and 100 year old hard wood floors. When we bought the place, we brought 21st century amenities to this 19th century gem. The property offers 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths including a huge soaking tub. The kitchen features granite counters, new appliances, a breakfast bar and all the modern convenience. There is a dining room off the kitchen which can seat as many as 10 for a dinner party. The living room has a cozy fireplace, a nice seating area and even a stand up video game for the kids (or grown up kids!) The first floor also has a brand new washer/ dryer and a full bath with a huge soaking tub. Upstairs has all 3 bedrooms. A spacious master bedroom with a king sized bed, a charm filled 2nd bedroom with a queen bed and the kids room featuring a full over queen bunk bed and a twin with another trundle twin underneath. This versatile room can maximize capacity, or it can be a nice relaxing room for a couple. We allow the option for you to bring your own boat and use our boatlift. This option costs a fee, but will come in very handy if you choose it. If you prefer, you can trailer your boat to the nearby public boat launch about 1.5 miles away. Either way, Lake Waubesa is an amazing lake that you will remember for years to come. Guest AccessGuests have access to the Entire house, the lake, the pier, the yard. The boat lift for an extra fee. Interaction with GuestsI am available anytime to answer questions or help with fun ways to enjoy the home and the area. The NeighborhoodIt is a small town feel just outside of beautiful Madison. There are two lovely parks very close by, one features basketball and volleyball, the other features nature walks by the lake and a lovely pubic beach. There are 4 restaurants/ bars within a quarter mile, and hundreds within 15 minutes drive. Enjoy all that Madison has to offer, but come home to the relaxing lake house that feels like its a million miles away Getting AroundTransportation will mostly be by car. There are more than enough parking spots on the street. Badger cab will pick you up or take you home, about $20 to the capital square. There is a transportation hub about 1.2 miles away with bus access to downtown Madison as well as Chicago. Other Things to NoteIt is possible to use our boat lift for an extra fee. If you are interested in this option, please contact the owner

The SpaceThis is an amazing place. It's in the woods with beautiful views of field, forest, and a neighboring farm. Plus, there's a treehouse to enjoy! Guest AccessWalk out to the lovely trails of Lake Farm County Park, along Lake Waubesa. It's just around the corner from events at the Lussier Family Heritage Center. Use the detached garage if you'd like. Interaction with GuestsWe have a few chickens, so we will drop in every couple days if your stay is more than two nights. (Don't worry--they're hens so they don't crow!) The NeighborhoodLibby Road is generally quiet except for people heading down to the lake to fish. We often walk down the road and onto the trails at the park. The views are great, too. Getting AroundThe nearest bus line is the 16, which stops about 1.5 miles away. But the Capital City bike path starts about about 200 yards down the road and runs across the south side of Madison, mostly throught the Nine Springs State Rec Area, and up to the Wisconsin State Capitol. (Let us know if you'd be interested in renting bicycles!) The Capitol, Farmer's Market, and the UW are all an 11-minute drive. Other Things to NoteThe three bedrooms are all upstairs. Two of them have queen beds and the other has bunkbeds. (Embrace your inner child!) The bathroom uptairs has a shower with a tub. The first floor bathroom doesn't have a tub. One of the three couches in the living room is a sleeper, but all of them are good for a nap or extra guest. Depending on the length of your stay, we may need to stop in to feed and water our free range, happy animals outside. (Currently, there's only a couple hens but we're hoping to add a couple pigs or goats.) We also have a piano, games, a guitar, and a small library for you to enjoy. Bikes, ice skates, art supplies, and camping gear are available, too, but we need to arrange that in advance! Finally, our summer schedule is feeling fairly full. Contact us, and we'll see what we can do. Thanks!

The SpaceI think the unique thing about this location is that it is in the center of Madison's most progressive, environmentally aware, and friendly neighborhood - the Schenk, Atwood, Starkweather, Yahara (SASY) neighborhood. You'll love it here! Close to all the East Side has to offer (dining, entertainment, festivals, etc.)! Guest AccessWi-Fi, TV/DVD, Porch/deck, Covered Bicycle area, 2 blocks from Goodman Community Center (gym and other activities), 1 block from Capitol City Bike Trail, 3 blocks from Atwood restaurants, shops, and coffee houses. No in house laundry, but a coin operated laundromat and dry cleaner are just 8 blocks away (.6 miles) on Winnebago Ave. We have children's games, toys and car seats that guests can use. Interaction with GuestsWe are able to meet with you depending on work schedules to help you check in and check out as needed, to field questions about Madison and the neighborhood, and to ensure that you have a comfortable stay. The NeighborhoodThis neighborhood is quiet, progressive, and environmentally friendly. It is home to the Olbrich Gardens, Lake Mendota, the Atwood business district, and the Goodman Community Center. There are lots of things to do, including visiting a Brew Pub, taking in a show at the Barrymore Theater, shopping for art or gifts, or going out for dinner at one of the neighborhood's many restaurants. Getting AroundThere are several buses that traverse Atwood Ave., just 3 blocks from home. The popular Capitol City Bike Path is just one block north as well. It is possible to walk to the Capitol in just 30 minutes (2 miles). Other Things to NoteYou will have wonderful upstairs neighbors who are very friendly! Our home is fully licensed and inspected by the City of Madison as well as the State of Wisconsin, ensuring a safe and comfortable stay!

The SpaceI am 1 of 9 licensed bed and breakfasts (without the breakfast) in the City of Madison. There are about 300 hosts renting on Airbnb. Nobody opposed my decision to become a bed and breakfast during the public hearing held with the city and I passed the health inspection. I'm good to go! I have a young Airedale Terrier. He's over 3 years old now but still very much a puppy! Since he's a terrier he doesn't shed, but he does bark sometimes at dogs walking by and is a bit jumpy and mouthy. It doesn't hurt by any means, he's just excited to meet and greet you! When you arrive, he'll definitely be excited. We're working everyday on this. When you arrive, please ignore him as I try to keep him sitting politely for you. If you aren't a dog lover, my place probably isn't the place for you. I live in a 1916 charming home that is located in one of the best neighborhoods in town. The Atwood neighborhood is located on the near east side of Madison and has some of the best cafe's, restaurants and taverns. One of the three rooms is available with access to a shared bathroom that has a claw foot tub. The room is quaint with a private porch and a view to the neighborhood. There is a full size bed with fresh sheets and clean towels in the bathroom. I have a French press and coffee/tea that you are welcome to make. The kitchen was recently redone and is stunning and spacious. I'd prefer to have only one person or a couple. Though I'm happy to accommodate a few more! We can always blow up an air mattress or someone can sleep on the couch. Street parking is available, however you're welcome to pull up along the side the house in the alley way. If you'd like to stay with me, or rent the whole house, please send me a message with a little bit about yourself and why you're coming to Madison. I'm looking forward to hearing from you! Guest AccessGuests have access to the whole lower level being the kitchen, dining room, living room and back patio. During the nice weather months, the back patio is a lovely place to sit in the morning and drink coffee or have a glass of wine in the evening under the party lights. The guest bedroom is at the end of the hallway upstairs. The bathroom is right next to it with fresh towels and travel soaps and shampoos if you need them. The guest room also has a balcony! There's a ping pong table in the garage you're welcome to use in the warmer months!!! It's a new addition : ) Interaction with GuestsI work from home so I'm in and out during the week and on the weekends. My three year old Airedale wakes me up around 7/8am so we'll usually take off then for a walk so we don't disturb you. I'm always up for socializing with my guests but if you prefer to not, that's fine with me. The NeighborhoodThe Barrymore Theater is right around the block, two of my favorite restaurants in town Lao Laan-Xang and the Alchemy are also about a block away. There's the best chocolate shop right by the theater as well. So many amazing places in walking distance! I haven't mentioned Williamson Street yet, but that's also one of my favorite areas that is very close. A little further past that is the Capitol and then the UW campus, which are in biking distance and only a short bus ride away. You'll see on the map there are lakes on either side of where I live; Lake Mendota to the west and Lake Monona to the east. The summer months are my absolute favorite as there is always something to do. Madison is great for biking as well! The bike path is near by as well as the bus line. If you want to bike but don't have a bike or can't bring your bike with you, Madison B Cycle is a great way to get around. There are many stations with bikes all around town. One is just down the block from me. Other Things to NoteThere will be a detailed 3 page list of my favorite restaurants, bars and shops in your room when you arrive.
