The SpaceNOTE: Only one room is available now because the other one which is right next door is occupied full-time for a few months. Please be aware of this and make sure it is in line with your privacy needs. The bathroom is also shared. Some weeks I cannot host. Please do not take it personally if I cannot honor your request. Include all people in your booking and please note check-in/out times in advance as well as guest access. This stone cottage from 1940 offers an alternative to hotels and cabins in the area. The bedroom can house 1-2 people on a queen bed and there is a full (shared) bath with great water pressure on the main floor. New high thread count sheets, pillows and towels. The living room with large stone fireplace is a cozy place to relax after a day of hiking or sightseeing. Chatting by the fire with a glass of wine (feel free to bring your own beverages) or tea is optional but I have very much enjoyed getting to know some of my guests from all over the world. There is a separate living area in the four season porch to offer us privacy as our hours may be different. The world's least independent cat lives on the premises and will be thrilled that you have come to visit her. Cable TV and wifi are in place for your use. Light breakfast provisions provided (baked goods such as croissants or English muffins, yogurt, fruit, coffee and tea, cream, butter and sugar) or you can bring your own. Restaurant list provided so you can make dinner plans while you unpack. No additional cleaning fee. I look forward to meeting you! Guest AccessMain level of house including living room, kitchen, deck and pool. Light kitchen use permitted for light food prep only. No meal preparation. Most kitchen appliances in place for breakfast prep including: coffee maker, espresso maker, kettle, toaster oven, microwave, refrigerator, freezer, blender, dishwasher. Many kitchen staples are already in place as it is a full time home and not a vacation home, such as salt, pepper, butter, cream, oil & vinegar, etc. Laundry can be negotiated for longer term stays only. Use of fireplace is allowed and there is cable TV in living room and wifi throughout the house. Interaction with GuestsI will be home to show you around and orient you towards the amenities you might need and will probably be interested in knowing something about you but do not require interaction. It's your getaway! I have very much enjoyed meeting the wide array of travelers who have stayed here and my favorite evenings have been spent chatting with guests. The NeighborhoodHeading to the Hudson Valley? There are beautiful hiking trails in Harriman State Park and Bear Mountain as well as kayaking and a seasonal beach, about 20 min away! Storm King Outdoor sculpture park is about a 25 min drive and DIA:Beacon is similar. The wineries in New Paltz are about 40 min away and the ones in Warwick are about 15-20 min away. Warwick farms are about the same distance. Clearview Vineyards, Applewood Winery and Oceana Vineyards are only 7 min away. Palaia Vineyards and Woodbury Commons are 15 min away. Skiing is nearby at Mt Peter in Warwick or Mountain Creek in Vernon, NJ. I'm well situated if you're following the Shawangunk wine trail or combining an art, nature, shopping weekend out of town. I have many recommendations in my Guidebook, but here are some recommended restaurants: Breakfast/Lunch: Empire Diner, Bagel Boys, Spill the Beans, Salads & Such, all in Monroe, Bright Star Diner, Central Valley, Alan's Falafel (casual),Chester Dinner: Chester: Christopher's Bistro, Magoya Japanese restaurant Monroe: 208 Grill, La Vera Cucina, Lakeside Restaurant, Scalia & Co, Plum House, Yune's Sushi, Amendola's (casual), Fat Tony's (casual) Goshen: Hacienda Mexican Central Valley: Cosimo's Getting AroundThe commuter train stops at Harriman, about a 15 min drive. It's the NJ Transit Main/Bergen line towards Port Jervis. Enterprise Rent a Car in Harriman has train station pick ups/drop off. Contact them to book a vehicle. Taxis also wait by the train station. Commuter buses stop in downtown Monroe, a 7 min drive or $10 taxi ride. However, I'm not on any local public transportation lines, nor are a lot of the sites, so a car would be advisable. There is parking for several cars. Other Things to NoteIt's an older home. It's not all perfect. There are some cosmetic issues I am having repaired but all the facilities and appliances are clean and in working order. As a stone house it's also much cooler than many homes, which is great in the summer so we don't need AC. In fall, winter, spring, I'd recommend an extra sweater. There is a space heater if the room feels chilly. We take our shoes off in the house to help keep floors clean so slippers are recommended. MOST cell phones do not work here as we are in a valley but I have a house phone and wifi so you can keep in touch. Cat on site so not recommended for those with cat allergies.

The SpaceOur location is a beautiful summer pond cottage, with a great deal of open space and a great mountain backdrop. Words and pictures can not begin to describe how beautiful the place is, with private access to a pond, and nature surrounding the houses. There is no sacrifice to convenience however, as the Woodbury Commons Shopping center is a mere 5 minutes away by car, and several shopping locations to pick up anything you might have missed while packing (Wallmart, Target, Home Depot) Guest AccessYou will be able to access the house, and the fireplace that is near the pond. Please stay out of the shed and any other building that is not cabin #2. Do not use the boats to go into the pond without my discreet permission and immediate supervision. Interaction with GuestsI will most likely be available in the house further up, and will be more than happy to help with anything. Please ask me to start the fireplace, as we have had incidents (pre-airbnb) where guests have been using dangerous methods to start fires. Other Things to NoteThe location is not always private, as two of the other cabins are rented to people outside of airbnb. They are not always there however, and their schedules are unpredictable. One of the cabins is usually used once every 14 days, and another is used once or twice every 7 days.

Bellow is the lists of other things offered to you: Patio Off street Parking WiFi Netflix Hulu Full size kitchen Printer (color) Desktop Closet space Washer Dryer Interaction with GuestsI am usually always around. I would be open to giving tips for things to do as well as well as engage I any conversation. The NeighborhoodVery quiet neighborhood. Everyone keeps to themselves and it is very dog friendly. Getting AroundTrain station is about a 2 mile drive. There are no local buses but taxis are available. Other Things to NoteMy two puppies are young and are still being trained. They do tend to bark a bit when meeting new people. I apologize in advance for their barking but I do my best to calm them in order keep the house quiet. I keep the AC running all the time and I try to keep my house at a cool 68degrees. The thermostat is located in the small hallway and I'm ok with changing the temperature if needed.
