In 2014, the leaves were gorgeous (vibrant reds, oranges, yellows, and tans) near the end of September. Maine Maple Sunday is always the 4th Sunday in March! Visit the sugar house at Breakneck Ridge Farm right up the road. The farm is also known for their quality Buffalo meat. Kids of all ages love to visit the Buffalo. The conditions vary with snowfall, of course, but you can generally count on awesome action January through March You can spend days exploring the numerous scenic local trails; head-up along the Pisqatiquis river, climbing the canyon to the crest and take in 360 degree vistas of the distant mountains. If your sled is itchin' for more continue on your way to the Forks and the Kennebec river—hookup with ITS87/ITS86 and . . . it's virtually limitless. ITS 85 runs through the woods just above the cabin, literally a minute away on the access trail. A great ride is to head northwest which provides a beautiful ride to Greenville and a fun day blasting around on 40 mile long Moosehead Lake ringed by snowcapped mountain peaks. If you can get yourself to stop; take a break and enjoy the local eateries/pubs and shopping. Lots of cool things to do for a fun filled day trip. Either direction on ITS 85 you can connect with numerous local trails offering scenic loops meandering through winter wonderscapes. ITS 85 is regularly groomed and maintained by local clubs creating some exceptional sledding and fast action. A great ride and a fun evening of relaxation is to take the local trail up the mountain above the cabin into Monson; which is a beautiful ride snaking through the forest and, when conditions are safe for sledding on the ice (check the trail report), follow the trail directly across lake Hebron to the Lakeshore Pub for some outstanding grub and great Maine mountain hospitality. Note: Trail condition reports are easily accessible and will help assess the safety of the ice on local ponds and lakes. There are also several scenic local loops, thanks to the dedication of the local clubs so you can go out for a ride for an hour or two and not have to return on the same trail. One great one takes you up around Mt. Russell above the tiny picturesque town of Blanchard, looping down pass Whetstone pond and connecting with ITS87, bringing you back home along the old rail bed. If you like to sled you've come to the right place. Note: Effective 1/1/2015 the rent amount will no longer include the 9% Maine tax. If you have any specific questions not addressed above or are in search of specific criteria, please contact us. Interaction with GuestsWhat You Need To Know Frequently Asked Question`s & General Guidelines Whether this is your first time renting a private home, or you are a savvy traveler that realizes a vacation rental is the economical, convenient and smart way to go, you can have peace of mind that our professional vacation rental company will strive to make your experience "worry-free!" 1. How do I make a reservation? - You can either book online which is fast, easy & secure or give us a call at (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN). A 50% deposit due at the time of reservation. Once we receive a reservation request we will confirm it with the property owner and e-mail a reservation confirmation using Docusign. Docusign is an online signature program to sign your rental agreement and any other applicable paperwork. The remaining 50% is due 30 days prior to arrival which we will automatically charge to the credit card number on file unless alternate payment arrangements have been made. Also at 30 days prior to your arrival date, we will e-mail you a final confirmation which includes directions to our office and check-in information. 2. What if I need to cancel my reservation? - Cancellation notice must be given at least 90 days prior to your arrival date in order to receive monies that were paid in advance, less a $100 cancellation fee. From 90 to 31 days prior to your arrival the 50% deposit is non-refundable. From 30 days prior to your arrival the full payment is non-refundable. The cancellation policy is the same for winter/snowmobile reservations, however if there is little to no snow, then we may issue the renter a "rain check". This "rain check" can be used to rebook a later date at the same property but only until the end of that current winter season and a request for a "rain check" must be given 72 hours prior to arrival date to avoid any additional fee`s. Northwoods Camp Rentals reserves the right to cancel any reservation made under false pretenses. 3. Check-in & Check-out - During the prime season summer months, most rentals are on a full week rental schedule with the check-in and check-out day being Saturday. Check-in on Saturday is from 4-6 pm. However some properties are on a Friday-Friday or Monday-Monday schedule too (on weekdays check-in is from 2-4 pm). If you arrive after the office is closed there is an after-hours pick-up box beside the office door. Check-out is by 10AM on the day of departure. Upon check-out we ask that you return your key to the office & dispose of your trash in the dumpster at the office driveway (there is a separate bin for recycling & returnables). If the property you are renting is in an outlying area such as Rockwood or Monson then we will give you directions to those local transfer stations to dispose of your trash. Also please remember to take care of and respect the property as if it were your own, and leave it in a "broom clean" condition. 4. Occupancy Standards - Rental properties have maximum occupancy limits as specified on the property webpage and in the rental agreement, which must be strictly adhered to. Any violation of these standards will be grounds for eviction without refund. 5. Are there any other fees? The base rental rate for each property is listed on the individual property page. In addition to this an 11% cleaning fee and 8% Maine Lodging Tax applies to each reservation. If you are traveling with pets there is a $95 pet fee. On most properties there is also the Accidental Damage Coverage for $49, or on a handful of the high-end properties there is an additional security deposit. Additional options that you can add on to your reservation include linen rentals, canoe and kayak rentals, and a motorboat rental. 6.Just Ask — If you ever have a question about our beautiful Moosehead Lake Region during your vacation planning, just give us a call toll-free! On top of that, we do give you information on the area at check-in, as well as having Vacation Guides and Hiking/Fishing info available. 7. Do you accept pets? - Yes & No! About half of our cabins accept pets and the other half do not. If pets are allowed it will be noted on the property webpage. Below is a copy of our pet policy, which will be included in your reservation confirmation e-mail for you to sign and return no later than 30 days prior to arrival. A non-refundable pet fee of $95 is required. If there are pets discovered in or around a rental unit that does not accept pets, renters may be asked to vacate the rental unit immediately with all monies forfeited. Example of pet policy: a. Always clean up after your pet(s), vacuum up pet hair and remove all evidence from the yard before checking out. Pets are not allowed on the beds or furniture. If additional cleaning services are needed after your stay due to your pet(s), a fee will be assessed. b. Do not leave your pet(s) unattended at the rental unit. If outside, pet(s) must be on a leash or under strict verbal control. Pet(s) must not be nuisance barkers. c. You agree that you will be financially responsible for damages caused by your pet(s). d. Your pet(s) is/are of a friendly, docile nature and do not have a history of biting. e. With this form, you MUST submit proof that your pet is currently and will be on a flea-prevention program such as Frontline and that all shots are up-to-date prior to your arrival. This could be in the form of a letter or note from your veterinarian’s office (or store receipts for products such as Frontline are acceptable). 8. Telephones - If the owner supplies a telephone at the rental unit, it is for local or toll-free calls only. The renter must use a calling card for toll calls. If renter makes long-distance calls, it is the renter`s responsibility to pay for all toll calls made during their stay, as well as a $50 service fee. 9. The SpaceLocated in the gorgeous Indian Point area of Lake Hebron in Monson Maine, the Finch Camp is a historic cabin and lovely and serene adjacent lakeside property. The two-story cabin was the first to built on Lake Hebron in the late 1800s, upgraded for modern comforts while still retaining its rustic charm. The cabin is just steps away from our dock on Lake Hebron, in a beautiful grassy area nestled among the trees and adjacent to the cottage. Our private lake area includes lawn chairs and the dock is great for swimming or mooring your watercraft. Staying at the Finch Camp is a throwback to earlier times, with delicious fresh spring water provided via an antique hand-pumped well in front of the camp and running water inside. It has a large country kitchen with a gas oven/stove. The large living room has an oversized fireplace that does a great job warming the camp on cool spring and fall nights. (We close it up in the winter.) The large wraparound porch includes a gas BBQ grill and a relaxing screened area. It's a pleasant walk to the quaint town of Monson or the nearby Appalachian Trail access, and a short car ride up the scenic Moosehead Trail Road to Moosehead Lake and the many other activities in the area, including waterfalls, hiking trails, farms, and nearby lakes and streams. Monson is a very friendly town, with several must-stop restaurants and a wonderful bakery that serves hearty breakfasts too. Monson has long been recognized as a stopover for hikers on the final leg of the 2,180 mile Appalachian Trail. It is recognized by the Appalachian Trail Conservancy as one of only 21 official Appalachian Trail Communities along the trail, which stretches from Georgia to Maine. The ideal seasons to visit are late spring/early summer through mid-fall. Late spring is great for fishing and relaxing; summer is wonderful for swimming, hiking, fishing, kayaking, grilling, etc.; and early to mid-fall provides a quieter time to visit to soak in the beautiful fall colors, crisp weather, and peaceful tranquility of the lake. Lake Hebron is known by locals to be one of the most beautiful of the many Lakes in the area. Guest AccessWithin 30 days of your reservation date, I will provide the name and contact info for our local caretaker, directions to the cabin and instructions for getting key access. Interaction with GuestsIn addition to our local caretaker, you can always contact me (owner) by phone or text at any time as well. - David Finley (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) Other Things to NoteThe camp has a perfect blend of rustic charm with modern upgrades and comforts. Like other camps in this area, water is piped into the home from the lake. This is clean and safe for bathing. We also have a well with a hand pump in front of the cottage (adjacent to the kitchen entrance) to draw fresh and clean drinking water. We provide 2 water containers and a water dispenser inside the kitchen that typically only need to be refilled a few times during a typical weekly visit. Some guests bring bottled water, but that really isn't necessary due to the quality and great taste of the fresh spring water in the well.

The SpaceThere are five bedrooms, a full kitchen, a common area, laundry and one bathroom on the second floor. Our pub is downstairs and it is a fun place. Some choose to eat downstairs while others utilize the apartment kitchen. The table in the apartment kitchen only seats 4, fyi, but there are t.v. tables and couches in the common area. Two bedrooms look directly over the lake and back yard. Snowmobiles can be parked right on the lake for easy access. Trailers can be parked nearby safely. Guest AccessGuests have access to the entire second floor, the porch attached to the second floor, the backyard (no personal alcohol or food is allowed during pub hours), the kayaks (free) and the dock. The owners need to come into the apartment periodically to change the restaurant laundry (3 sets of W/D), but we are nice and not intrusive. Interaction with GuestsThere is someone available to help you from 11:00-9:00 PM everyday except Mondays when the restaurant is closed. The employees are very cordial and willing to help. The commercial kitchen downstairs is well stocked and it is no problem if you need a cup of sugar, a certain spice, a lemon or items to pull off a lobster dinner. We can accommodate you for most cooking needs. Rebekah, the owner, lives not even a mile down the street and is around much of the time. She can also be reached by phone during your stay. You can have as much privacy as you'd like or you can be a part of all that is the Lakeshore House The NeighborhoodMonson is a small town, but there is a bit to do if you like the outdoors. There are several wonderful hikes in addition to the Appalachian Trail. There is swimming, boating, biking, craft fairs, snowmobiling, classes, fitness center and a handful of other activities. Other Things to NoteThe pub does have its lively moments, but generally all is quiet by 9 or 10. A lot of guests really like the arrangement of having some gathering/eating time in the restaurant and then only having to go just up the stairs. If you are looking for a tranquil, non-interactive stay then we might not be the right fit for your trip.
