Interaction with GuestsIf we're not nearby in person, we should be able to help answer any questions you have via text or email :) The NeighborhoodLos Gatos, nestled in the hillside of the Santa Cruz mountains, is a gem in the Bay Area! What started as the "weekender" get away spot for San Franciscans has evolved into a thriving town for live music, artists, shopping, hiking/biking, families, singles, and even dogs (although it's named after cats)! Much of the town's architecture reflects quaint Victorian Cottages surrounded by beautiful landscaping and pedestrian friendly sidewalks and crosswalks. Almost every weekend of the year, one can enjoy the local farmers market (Sundays starting around 8:30am) in the heart of down town. Enjoy the pumpkin glass art fair in the fall, Christmas parade, downtown lights, tree lighting and carriage rides in the winter, children's fantasy fair in the spring, and live Music in the Park all summer long on Sundays or Jazz in the Plaz every Wednesday in the summer! Not enough entertainment? Spend a day touring the town's boutiques, the local winery: Testerossa (walking distance from our house), popular hiking/biking trails, or nearby Vasona Park with a lake/picnic tables and water sports! There's also a fitness club at the bottom of the street with an outdoor pool. The town offers a wide variety of upscale and down to earth restaurants to choose from, too (the Los Gatos Cafe (breakfast), the Pastaria and Market (dinner), and Yogurt & Love (dessert!) are three of our favorite local spots!). The list goes on and on. You MUST experience this town! Getting Around-Our home is walking distance to town (3 min to the high school/newly built library(!) and 5-10 min to town). **We do live on a hillside so there is a short hill as part of the walk.
-Highway: We're 3 min driving distance from Hwy 17/880.
-Groceries: Safeway/Starbucks is about a 20 min walk or you can drive there or to Trader Joe's/Whole Foods in 5 min.
*For coffee, the locals love the Los Gatos Coffee Roasting Company (10 min walk to town).
-Airport: 15 min drive from the San Jose Airport (avoiding rush hour)
-Airport: 45 min drive from the San Francisco Airport (avoiding rush hour).
-Beach: 30 min drive to the Santa Cruz Beach (In the summers or during holidays, avoid beach traffic by leaving the house by 9:30 am and returning from the beach by 3pm).
-Super Bowl 50 Stadium: 23 min drive without traffic. Other Things to NoteWe look forward to hosting guests in our home! Ideally we'd like long-term renters, but are open to short term stays as well--starting with 4-5 day minimums.
There is a separate in-law unit contiguous with the house. The unit has its own entrance and amenities so there would be no expected interaction with house guests, other than the full-time tenants caring for the exterior lawn and patio plants (patio plants once a week). The only shared space between the in-law unit and house is on the driveway (the in-law unit has the available two spaces-tandem- on the right side of the driveway), and a portion of the lower back patio (There is a privacy screen between the in-law unit and the house).
Parts of the house are currently being redecorated so some furnishings in bedrooms may be different than shown.
