WATER FRONT HOUSE IN A Birder's Paradise with over 110 bird species. Rancho el Rio is another slice of heaven that the owners of Casa Cielo in Monteverde are now making available to guests..112 acres of a unique combination between nature at its best and a real organic farm. Natural swimming pools in the gentle river and river beach areas.
You get it all: Over one mile of river front with, forested areas, mountains with beautiful ocean views, pastures, orchards, and flowers, palm trees, vegetation and lots of trees, such as coconut, banana, plantain, star fruit, breadfruit, oranges, grapefruit, lemons, passionfruit, mangoes, avocados, cashews.
The guest house is spacious and rustic with hand-made wooden furniture. It is right by the river so you can see and hear the rush of the water all the time while you are there--a natural sound that induces relaxation and a state of well-being. We are available and live on the same property.
The weather is magnificent! It is warmer than Monteverde, but not as hot as the beach. Be ready to see wildlife - howler monkeys, iguanas, geckos, salamanders, frogs, TONS of birds (herons, birds of prey, parrots, egrets, manakins, migratory birds, toucans, etc.). At night you can build bon fires by the river and even camp there just for fun!
You can help milk the cow, feed the chickens, geese, peacocks, pigs and piglets and fish and tend to and ride the donkey and horses. The river itself provides hours of fun. Children (and adults!) love to swim and wade in the natural pools, look at the fish and find beautiful rocks and tiny creatures, Jesus Christ lizards that "walk" over the water surface and the iguanas that sunbathe. Enjoy traditional games, such as our home-made mechanical bull and other equestrian games. Collecting fruits to make drinks is popular too. Night or daytime hikes by foot or on horse- back through the ranch and the surrounding town are a true delight.. We have mountain bikes for rent for those who love cycling

It is the Real Costa Rica. People speaks Spanish and do their ordinary every day activities such as traveling on horseback, carrying sand or rock using oxen-drawn carts, swim in the rivers for fun, have their patios filled with beautiful gardens, medicinal plants, chickens and pigs and some have cows and they herd back and forth to eat or drink from the river or more lush areas. There are TINY grocery stores. You won't see Starbucks, Walmart or McDonalds. Instead we offer food made from neighbors. Low population density so very likely to see monkeys and much wildlife.
