Shéady Acres cottages are a gem tucked away in Vermont’s beautiful Northern kingdom. These cottages tell a story. You can choose from The Sugarhouse that is a traditional Vermont Sugar Shack with great natural light and traditional Vermont character. The Caribe (pet friendly) is a taste of island life with tile roof and a beach out front! The Teahouse, is a traditional Japanese style with a round window and bamboo flooring. Please note: A Vermont Rooms Tax of 9% has been applied through Airbnb when booking online through their web site. Contact us for information regarding reservation deposits, security deposits, taxes and pet fees. Most importantly Shéady Acres offers quietude! Watch the beautiful sunset from your cottage porch or the moonrise from the outdoor hot tub. Enjoy a fire with newfound or old friends in the great outdoors. You will fully begin to appreciate what Shéady Acres is all about. The O’Shea’s created this unique Mecca for their guests to truly know what it feels like to get away and relax in peace. After spending time on the trails and slopes of the mountains it is inspiring to know that at the end of your day you will be revitalized at Shéady Acres. The peace and quiet here contrasts sharply with the hustle bustle found at most resort areas. We offer lodging that harmonizes with the mountain, forest and reflects the overriding values of our unique Vermont landscape. Truly escape with us at Shéady Acres. Shéady Acres was built as a labor of love from many friends and family of the O’Shea’s and you will feel like part of the family when you stay. Visit (URL HIDDEN) and see these beautiful cottages. Shéady Acres is proof you can still build from your dreams. Shéady Acres is a twenty-five acre tract conveniently located halfway between Jay peak and Montgomery Center, Vermont. Our hilltop southern exposure gives us one of the best sunsets in town, as well as maximum light for one of the many activities we offer. There is an eighteen-hole disc golf course on the property. Cross-country skiing, hiking, swimming and world-class mountain and road biking are right outside your door. We even have a wonderful outdoor hot tub! Jay Peak Resort, only 5 miles up the road, offers a championship eighteen-hole golf course and the deepest powder skiing on the east coast. We can even offer you discounted Jay Peak Lift tickets and Golf Passes– contact us for more information! You will not run out of things to do, no matter the duration of your stay. Pets are welcome! We allow pets in our Caribe cottage. “The Sugarhouse” is pure Vermont. Complete with a beautiful claw foot bathtub and vaulted ceiling, designed from a traditional Vermont sugarhouse. The smell of the local white cedar interior is as sweet as any grade of syrup. The Sugarhouse is also the “greenest” of our cottages, utilizing almost all local and recycled materials. A pine plank breakfast nook, spalted maple trim, and marble corner sink to name a few. The Sugarhouse reflects Vermont tradition with a touch of romance. One queen bed-sleeps 2. “The Caribe” is our ode to time spent relaxing. There is absolutely no reason the island life cannot be lived in any climate. The warm colors and textured interior make a blender drink in the middle January seem completely appropriate. A slightly smaller bathroom leaves more room for lounging and jumping on the bed. Life is a beach, and that beach is in front of the Caribe at Shéady Acres. One queen bed-sleeps 2. Pet friendly! A one time pet fee will be due upon arrival of $30 only for those bringing pet(s). “The Tea House” is a tribute to Asian culture. Simplicity. Symmetry. Sake. A pergola and large deck will lead you into this “Chashitsu”. You will find a timber framed ceiling, bamboo floors and counter top, as well as shoji doors. This may be your only chance to stay in a Japanese pagoda in Northern Vermont. Enjoy yourself, it’s later than you think. One queen bed-sleeps 2. A percentage of profits donated to local animal shelter. The SpaceA wide open living room is at the center of the chalet, great for hanging out in front of the fireplace after a cold day of skiing, or just to relax after visiting the many offerings of Northern Vermont. The three outside porches overlooking the vast woods also provide excellent spaces for relaxing while still feeling immersed in the majesty of the forest. Despite the dark name, the Valhalla Room has plenty of light with windows on two sides. There is a closet and dresser for storing your stuff. It's right next to the kitchen and downstairs bathroom for extra convenience. Guest AccessGuests have access to all the shared space in the house, including the kitchen, living room, and both bathrooms. Please note: we do have a pet dog, Grinny, a mature yellow Labrador. Also, sometimes Little (another mature yellow Lab) comes up to the chalet for a visit. They are both really friendly, with both people and other pets. Interaction with GuestsI live at the house most of the time. I love meeting new people and swapping stories. The NeighborhoodAlpine Haven is a small community located in the vast forests of Jay Mountain. There is a pool available, with a deep end for the adults and a shallow end for the kids. There is also a playground right next to the clay tennis courts, and a large open park equipped with fire pits and picnic tables for a nice family outing. Several trails circle Alpine Haven, too, great for cross country skiing, snow shoeing and hiking. Montgomery town is just a few miles away, with a small grocery store and several restaurants. Jay town is about 7 miles away, with its own restaurants and a great little farmer's market open every Saturday during the warmer months. And, of course, there is Jay Peak Resort, just two miles from the chalet, which has several restaurants and bars, a pizza place, delis, an excellent water park, a professional level golf course, and all the skiing/snowboarding you could want. Getting AroundIn the winter we often get lots of snow. However, the plows are extremely efficient at clearing the roads, even after a big dump. While 4 wheel drive is certainly nice, it is not a necessity. Other Things to NoteMorning coffee is really good and included, as well as tea and juice.

The Space2,500 sq foot 3 bedroom farmhouse, fully furnished and equipped. The first stage of renovations are complete, with a new, well appointed kitchen and upgraded (but single) bathroom. Large living and dining rooms, ski tuning shop, and lots of books. There's evidence of work in progress (the kitchen still needs a finished ceiling), but the house is clean, well furnished, warm, and all work in progress has been tidied and made safe. Guest AccessThe house is frequently used by our family and rented only occasionally, so most everything you need will be there. Access the full house and the well stocked cook's kitchen, including use of staples (spices, pasta, flour, etc). Linens are provided, as are washer/dryer, high speed internet/wifi. There is a ski tuning bench and a wood stove that guests may use. There is a swimming hole out back for summertime, but guests must notify us before visiting so that we can alert the landowners. Hiking and mountain biking trails are nearby and the Route 242 pass is a popular road biking destination. Interaction with GuestsI enjoy meeting people from around the world and have travelled extensively. I am sometimes present to greet guests, but will generally not be around for the duration of your stay. The NeighborhoodThe house sits on a three acre lot but also in the center of the village. A full service supermarket with produce, high quality meats, and beer/wine/liquor is across the road, but there is also 2 acres of woods, a beautiful mountain river, and amazing swimming hole out the back door. There are three restaurants, a post office, a TD Bank ATM, and a ski shop within a 5 minute walk. And, of course, Jay Peak Resort offers some of the best skiing on the east coast and is 8 miles away (and on the same road!). Getting AroundThe house is in a rural location not served by transit. Rides to/from the Burlington, VT airport are available with sufficient advance notice; the house is also about 2 hours from the Montreal, Quebec airport. A rental car is recommended. In winter, do NOT follow any directions involving more than one mile on Vermont Route 58- the stretch closest to Montgomery is an unpaved mountain pass that is closed in winter, and the closed section is not well marked when coming from the east/ I-91. Other Things to NoteAs noted, the house has been through a round of renovations, but there is more to be done. The house will be clean, but there may be evidence of some projects in progress. We recognize this by offering a reasonable price. The bedrooms, for example, are set up as they often were in old Vermont farmhouses, in a series- meaning you have to pass through one to get to another. We plan to build a corridor and add an upstairs bathroom in the next few years. We have also not yet completed the kitchen ceiling. Housekeeping services are available upon request.

This is a two bedroom log cabin just seven miles from Jay Peak Ski Area and one mile from the town of Montgomery Center. Located on the main road to Jay, it is a smaller cabin but very comfortable. I do allow dogs but would like them crated if away.
