The SpaceThe Laundry is just that - a former Laundry. With a growing interest in small spaces I had it relocated onto this magic spot - it has undergone a complete makeover and is a testament to what can be achieved when one is keen to lessen their footprint without compromising the experience and maintaining a 5 star getaway for guests to relax and enjoy. The NeighborhoodThe views are 'drop dead gorgeous' - beautiful 20 minute walk to the river (you can also drive) - stunning spot to enjoy a picnic or a spot of trout fishing if you are a keen fisherman! Morison's Bush has been a favourite freedom camping site for decades but don't tell anyone as they like to keep it a secret!! Getting AroundThe Laundry at the Greytown Hideaway is 5 minutes by car to the nearest town (Greytown) or 8 minutes to the renowned wine district of Martinborough (where I grew up) and a 10 minute drive from the nearest Railway Station at Woodside. As it is in the country it would be preferable for guests to have their own means of transport as the public taxi service is limited.

The SpaceWe are four km from the centre of Greytown and about 2 km off State Highway 2. About one and a half hours from the airport, or one and a quarter hours from Wellington by car. Apart from Bumblebee Cottage we offer the use of a double-bedded 10 sq m (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) called Rosemary cottage, with electricity, lights, deck, no plumbing down the garden for extra guests . $20 extra for the use of this per stay. Guest AccessYou have your own entrance right past the bright yellow letterbox. Key is usually provided inside the unlocked door so you can just go on in from the appointed time. You will be private and secluded but we are not far away in our own house, should you need anything. Interaction with GuestsWe live on the property but many trees and bushes secure your complete privacy. However we are there should you need anything at all, at your disposal. We like people and want them to have a good time! We supply extras to make you feel at home - extra toiletries, lots of reading material, good antique china and a home-like atmosphere. We can recommend places to visit and explore and have a bizarre collection of bicycles and helmets for our flat roads. But we don't go over and invade your space - we are there should you need anything and we respect your desire for privacy. The NeighborhoodA very quiet rural area yet five minutes to Greytown or ten minutes to Martinborough. You will be private and secluded and there are fields and walks all around. This homestay has operated for ten years with great success and its website contains many reviews. We are happy to recommend restaurants, cafes, museums and shopping excursions and the whereabouts of the Chocolate Factory! Getting AroundThe train is not very near - but there is a bus from Woodside Station for each train arrival which takes you into the town itself. We can pick you up if needed. There are buses to Martinborough, Carterton, Masterton, Featherston from the township of Greytown, pop about 2400 people. You really need a car. Other Things to NoteYou are ten minutes to Martinborough's vineyards and eateries, and five minutes from Greytown's many boutiques, clothes and antiques shops and cafes. It is a popular area for Wellingtonians wishing to get away for a weekend. It is all pretty flat and good biking country as well. The front decks of both Bumblebee and the extra little cottage Rosemary are perfect places to sit and relax. We can recommend restaurants, cafes and sites to visit for fun and food.
