Getting AroundPublic transportation is available but not really convenient-bus every hour to SLO. Other Things to NoteOne of our neighbors is doing a complete home re-model and things can look a bit like a construction zone at times.

The SpaceTwo large skylights in the dining and living rooms bring in wonderful natural light. The bedroom is also cheery and can be turned into the perfect afternoon napping place by closing the curtains. There is a doggy door in the cottage accessing a small fenced yard. We ask that pets are not left unattended. We know there are brilliant escape artist type pooches who might be tempted to scamper down to the bay on their own. Guest AccessThere is a nice large and shared yard between the cottage and the "big house" The washer and dryer, also shared, reside in a walkway between the houses. The view of the bay is amazing and guests are encouraged to come around ocean side to relax and enjoy breathtaking sunsets. Basically the cottage is your private space, the big house is our private space and everything else is considered "all access" There is also an ocean viewing area with two comfortable chairs and a small table for the private use of guests. Interaction with GuestsWe will most likely be on the property or somewhere near should guests have questions about anything. We will always be available by cell phone. The NeighborhoodAlthough the cottage is peaceful and secluded; a mere five minute walk down El Morro takes you to the picturesque Baywood pier and several very good restaurants along Second street. In Los Osos, Montana De Oro State Park has an amazing scenic drive through Eucalyptus forests which then open out to panaramic ocean views. You can park and hike, ride horses, bike or sit on the beaches waving to the otters in the ocean. The Elfin forest is a walking trail through 300 yr old Pygmy Oak Trees. It is 2 blocks from our home. A great morning walk. Morro Bay Rock is part of an extinct volcanic mountain range called the 'Seven Sisters' . People often hike up Biship's Peak which tops out at 1599 ft above sea level. The Chumash tribe are the only ones who can hike up Morro Rock, which they do during their annual ceremony. Morro Bay Estuary is a bird sanctuary and you can see blue herons, wild turkeys, pelicans and loads of other birds all gathered on the water. Morro Bay State Park has a great Museum of Natural History. The MB harbor begins there and there is also the MB Golf Course. Morro Bay Harbor has kayaking rentals, whale watching, harbor tours (for only $10.) You can walk by the rock and visit with the otters with their babies on their bellys or hop on a tour boat and go see the sea lions up close. Further north, you can visit Cayucos Cookie Company, which Oprah deemed a darn good cookie. The art colony Harmony, which boasts a population of 18 currently is next and then Cambria, the little town in the forest by the sea. If you keep going, you find the Hearst Castle to tour and elephant seals lounging on the beach to be envious of. San Luis Obispo is 10 minutes from our home. Cal Poly gives the town an energetic buzz and The Mission San Luis Obispo brings peace to the park that surround it. The River Walk through downtown brings a garden feel to the area. Slo is home to one of the last Drive In theatres. Slo has a fun Farmer's Market on Thursday nights, with music and hot food. We have wine tasting in SLO, Edna Valley, Paso Robles, Atascadero and Avila. Avila beach has a great farmers market and sunny beach. Avila Valley Barn is a fun place to visit, with hayrides and home made goodies. Getting AroundThere is public transport to SLO and Morro Bay close by. We are walking to some restaurants. Morro Bay has a cute trolley during the summer which runs from the MB State Park all the way thru town, hitting the Embarcadero and the north side of town. We have Uber too! Other Things to NoteWe allow children age 5 and up. Since we do have another Airbnb here, I want to assure all my guests get a good night's sleep. We are only accepting children with prior notice and we consider them guests, so we do charge an additional $10. guest fee. I have books and stuffed animals, toys and coloring books for them in the room.
