Other Things to NoteWe are serial rennovators and we are in the process of replacing the back porch so you must exit through the front of the house to get to the back yard. The SpaceUnplug and decompress in this stately little home that dates back to 1850. Located just off Interstate 80 (90 minutes to NYC), this charming red brick house has 3 bedrooms equipped with full-sized beds, comfy linens, exposed beams and original wide-plank flooring. Collectors at heart, we outfitted the house with many pieces salvaged from homes of the mid-late 1800s, while adding some modern conveniences (including a Sonos sound system in the living room and Chromecast in the den!). Relax in our white-washed bathroom with antique claw foot tub and pedestal sink. Cook a simple meal in our kitchen with farmhouse sink. Read a book on our chesterfield sofa. Sip some whisky in the backyard around a campfire or warm up inside by the wood stove. Our first home has brought us so much joy, we wanted to share it. 5 miles to Delaware Water Gap and Appalachian Trail, near Camelback Ski/ Camel Beach, 10 minutes to Shawnee, 20 minutes to Crossings Outlet and a short walk to general store, mini mart, post office, chocolate shop, antique store and thrift shop. We're located directly in front of the Delaware River in downtown Portland. There is WIFI/internet, and we just installed a TV with Chromecast for easy Netflix and HBO viewing (if you have those accounts). This is an old house that sings (you may hear occasional window creeks and radiator clangs) but we promise it's full of happy songs. Interaction with GuestsAlthough the house is private to you, we're reachable via email, phone and text for any needs. The NeighborhoodPortland is a quaint, tiny town established in 1876. Our home is located on a block of historic homes just along the edge of downtown, overlooking the Delaware River. Many folks come from all over NEPA and beyond to get a sunset view of the Delaware Water Gap from the Portland-Columbia pedestrian footbridge (located across the street). Summertime is perfect for tubing, fishing, canoeing/kayaking and hiking. Wintertime is perfect for card games and watching the trains pass by. Getting Around90 minutes to NYC, 50 minutes to Scranton, 20 minutes to Stroudsburg, just under 2 hours to Philadelphia. Martz Bus is the easiest public transit option—the station is 10 minutes from the house. Grocery store is just a 30-second walk downtown.

Adjacent to this room is a guest bathroom which features a glass-enclosed shower, toilet and sink, and of course, clean towels. Guest Access*Guests may use the kitchen and all appliances/ utensils to prepare and cook their own food, provided they clean up after themselves. (Feel free to use the coffee, tea, etc., and to help yourself to the condiments and spices). *During the summer, and on weekends during the school year, I will be offering a cooked breakfast. *Guests may use the laundry room as well as watch free movies on Roku in the living room. * Guests will be given WiFi access to log onto their laptops. There is plenty of workspace -- a desk in the living room and another table in our sitting area by the fireplace. * There is parking space in our driveway for an extra vehicle or two. *Guests may feel free to roam our 9 1/2 acre property (and the adjacent forest) as they see fit. Come and go as you like! Interaction with Guests*I am a life-long resident of this area and have connections/contacts for virtually any type of guest. * I am a teacher, so I would not typically be available week days during the school year to help with directions, etc. Guests will be given both my and my husband's cell phone numbers and of course, we will be available to guests in the evenings. *My husband works various hours, so is sometimes available during the weekday; other times, he is not. *During the summers, when I am home all day, (and hope to host frequently), I will be most readily available. *Between the two of us, I am confident we can accommodate guests and address individual needs/requests throughout the year. The Neighborhood(URL HIDDEN) (URL HIDDEN) (URL HIDDEN) (URL HIDDEN) (URL HIDDEN) Getting Around*As the realtors say, it's all about location, Location, LOCATION, and we are blessed to be in a secluded setting with easy access to all the Tri-State area has to offer. *Although our home is nestled in the woods, we are only one mile from Route 80 exit 7 -- the last exit in New Jersey prior to entering Pennsylvania. It is an ideal location for any number of travelers, including: Business people, Tourists, Hikers, Skiers/Snowboarders, Delaware River Enthusiasts, Fishermen, Truckers, Hunters, parents visiting their kids at nearby Blair Academy, Centenary College, and East Stroudsburg University, as well as Shoppers who wish to avail themselves of a bargain staying here for a weekend of shopping at The Crossings outlets 25 minutes west of here. *In most situations you would want a vehicle to drive around the area and/or to get to and from major attractions and cities such as the Pocono Region, Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, New York City, Allentown, PA, Philadelphia, PA, Stroudsburg, PA etc. *For Hikers taking a break from the Appalachian Trail and others who would prefer public transportation to surrounding cities, there is a Martz bus line out of Delaware Water Gap. In some instances, we would be happy to drive you there. In other instances, you would need to call Uber for a ride to the bus stop. Other Things to NoteWe have a dog -- a male vizsla. He is gated off from the back part of the house where the bedroom and living room are located. He is well-behaved, but people who are allergic to dogs or especially fearful of dogs should not stay here.
