The park does not allow high speed boats or jet skis on the lake, so it is very slow and pleasant. Private use of dock, canoe, kayak, and large off-shore float for swimming. WIFI (speed is 7 megabit download and 1 Meg upload). Close to Bar Harbor and Southwest Harbor, located on Echo Lake. Conveniently located on Rt. 102/Main Street, about 30 steps down off the road overlooking the lake, very private with roadside parking. You can hear the road. From the deck, there are 30 steps of uneven rocks that go down to the water, not conducive for people who have a hard time navigating stairs without railings. Electricity, hot running water, normal plumbing, coffee machine, renovated kitchen with granite tops and 2-burner cook-top and toaster oven. Drinking water and water dispenser are provided. Bathroom with hot shower, flush toilet and rustic hot outdoor shower deck with warm water hook up in the woods. Beaches, bluffs, hiking, biking, carriage trails, lakes, lobsters, and coastline all within minutes. Wood Fireplace for ambiance. Modern air conditioner and heating unit wall-mounted. This is a "bring your own" linens, sheets, towels and dish towels arrangement as there is no laundry service available (bring king bed, queen bed, and/or single futon sheets, pillow cases, towels and dish towels). Free roadside parking area (please park away from neighbor's garage). *To do the National Park activities, you will need a Park Pass (buy online or at the Bar Harbor Park Headquarters or Sea Wall Campground) to use or park at any National Park trail heads. The NeighborhoodOn a pristine deep fresh water lake (the park does not allow speed boats or jet skis), among the trees, bordering Acadia National Park on Mount Desert Island, which is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean. Neighbors include Loons, Ducks, Turtles, Fish, Squirrels and a very nice human couple to the north. Located on the road south to Southwest Harbor. Also close to Bar Harbor, Northeast Harbor, Seal Harbor, and Bass Harbor. All quaint little fishing and lobstering villages. No high speed boats or jet skis are allowed on the lake so it is very nice and the deck very private. You are within earshot of the road. Getting AroundBike, Hike, Swim, Canoe, Kayak, Taxi, Rent-a-Car, or Drive own car. In the summer months there is a free shuttle "The Island Explorer" that goes everywhere on the island and will stop at the Camp if you wave it down. Different routes go to Bar Harbor, through the Park, and to the Bar Harbor Airport in Trenton. It also has a bike carrier. Check the summer schedule to/from Southwest Harbor. Other Things to NoteThe camp is located on Mount Desert Island in Maine, accessed by a year-round bridge and road to the island. Taking a ferry is NOT required to get to the island. You can also fly to Portland, Bangor, or Bar Harbor Airports and rent cars from there.
