Recline in the glow of the fire, choose the luxury leather reclining sofa in the living room or the canopy bed inthe Master. In this historic* country refuge, brand new to VRBO, feel your tension ease whether inside or if you're drawn outside, to soak in the hot tub, watch the stars against the alpine glow on Mt. Hood or Mt. Adams. Venture beyond the immediate 3/4 fenced acre, 20 minutes to Mt. hood Meadows, 12 to Hood River, windsurfing or ?, or if weather permits, snow-shoe/crosscountry out the door. Inside, enjoy the cozy feel of a true early 20th century craftsman farmhouse, catch a different grove or peak from each of the 4 bedrooms original windows, luxuriate on the heated terra cotta kitchen floor as you pull up a stool for coffee and a long gaze at Mt. Hood. Spring brings pear/apple blossoms all around as you imagine yourself in a sea of popcorn from the coziness of the canopy bed, or overlooking the puffs against the lingering snows of Adama. Later in the season, pick cherries, raspberries, and other fruit right in your own garden. Wild life may be as close as the walks 2 'blocks' away with deer and the rare sighting of bear, martens, cougar, and fox - or a duck or albino peacock may surprise you right in front of the house. They like the pond and the miniature koi too! Currently, the sauna is being refurbished, but by spring, the lawns and gardens will draw you outside to barbecue, sit and enjoy mountain views and scents of flowers, or hot tub and sweat. Meanwhile, pick a BlueRay or Netflix or Amazon Instant Prime or music or head to Parkdale (5minutes) for music, beer, and barbecue, or down to Hood River for a variety of activities. A special place, the century-old grove outside the French doors of the Master, and fire ring from long-ago stage trails draws one in a calm, reflective, nurturing embrace with nature. Come for a weekend, stay a week, get in touch! * see article in History of Hood River Vol. 1. One of original 1912-1914 homes of Dee Flat, belonging to Luhr Jensen Family

Welcome to Middle Fork Ranch. Nestled in the upper Hood River Valley, you'll find a warm and inviting farmhouse ideal for family and friends. A perfect place to enjoy privacy in a casual and relaxed atmosphere. Walk or bicycle along the local roads and forested trails and enjoy dining al fresco as the sun sets on Mt. Hood. Activities include exploring the 'secret' trails on the property, hiking along the rushing waters of the Middle Fork River, and strolling down Berry Road for stunning double views of Mt. Hood and Mt. Adams. While you sip your morning coffee on the porch, watch robins, ravens, quail, hawks, deer and hummingbirds roam the property. Downtown Parkdale is a quick 7 minute drive away, you’ll find a convenient grocery store, brewpub, delicious BBQ restaurant and ice cream for the kids. Just ten miles from the house, swim and fish in the crystal clear waters of beautiful Laurance Lake. Back on the ranch, relax in the shaded rope hammock, settle in an Adirondack chair on the grass for some stargazing, or swing in the tree swing. Horseshoes, croquet and badminton are available for some friendly competition. In fall, winter and spring, the fire pit makes for simple evening pleasures. The garden's bounty supplies fresh organic berries and fresh herbs during the summer months of June, July and August. Ripe raspberries and strawberries are yours for the picking. Create a fantastic meal in our well-stocked kitchen while gazing out at forested mountain views, and pick some fresh herbs from our garden to enhance your feast. In fall, enjoy the bounty of local orchards along the historic Hood River Fruit Loop. Taste heirloom varieties of nature’s most delicious pears and apples, sip fresh apple cider, and stock up on autumn harvest treasures. The Middle Fork Ranch offers privacy and comfort with its accommodations. With 2300 total square feet and a living/family room both upstairs and down, there's plenty of room to spread out, engage in a variety of activities or enjoy some private quiet time. The master bedroom is located upstairs and offers a queen bed; the adjacent bath has a pedestal sink and soaker tub/shower. Also situated on the upper level off the family room is the second bedroom. Ideal for adults and children alike, it has a comfortable queen bed and an oversized twin bunk. A loft, accessible through this second bedroom, has a double bed. The downstairs living room is a comfortable space that also doubles as a sleeping area with a queen sleeper sofa. The lower bath, with shower, accommodates the downstairs.
