Since my practice here is more like sharing my home, and less like a motel rental, I especially appreciate people who bring an open, cooperative, friendly spirit to the process. In a quiet wooded area near Percy Priest lake, we are still just 5 miles east of the Nashville Airport, (pickup available $10) , 15 minutes from downtown, and the Opryland Hotel area. I have an art room, activities for children, (my grandchildren live nearby) a Playroom where we've held house concerts, and many workshops, wireless internet, a wide selection of music. My space is ideal for artists, writers, or musicians, business people, travelers, people new to the city, or anyone wanting a getaway or just a fast, easy, comfortable place to sleep while on the road! NOTE: While my house is clean, it is not spotless-- the forks aren't a matching set, the refrigerator and cabinets are sometimes full of food (always for share!), the bars of soap are not individually wrapped like in a motel, the sheets and towels are clean- hung out in the fresh air to dry, but don't always form a matching set. : ) My grandchildren have made sure the carpet has a few light stains in the that won't come out, and i've collected books and things globally that adorn each room. Yes, i could part with some more of the "stuff" but for now, it's here for us to enjoy along with the relaxed friendly vibe in the house. There are supplies on hand for you to prepare food for yourself. I offer creative process coaching in expressive and healing arts. As a community artist for over 25 years I have an extensive network of creative friends doing interesting projects in and around Nashville. I can offer expressive arts/creativity sessions upon request. : ) I've done lots of traveling around the world, and learned the beauty and value of hospitality... I enjoy people and seek to provide guests in my home with support, nourishment for body and soul, information about the city, as well as honor needs for quiet and privacy. Please read my reviews and references, they will help you connect with the "spirit" of the Morningstar House before you get here. : ) The house is very spacious and guests are welcome to share the open space--- outdoor deck in the back, well-stocked kitchen, 12 places, (two tables) for sit down dining, a huge playroom with music and lounging space, front living room, washer/dryer, fenced in back yard and plenty of parking on the quiet cul-de-sac. I am open to interaction with guests and can be available for conversation, support for making the most out of your trip, some transportation, and expressive arts sessions if that is a desire. I am also available to connect guests with other guests or creative Nashville folk. I can also offer space, peace and quiet to guests who want that... Sometimes "less is more" when it comes to contact... : ) I'm very near the Percy Priest Lake, natural areas such as the Greenway, several restaurants, two grocery stores, as well as a short drive downtown to all the music and fun stuff Nashville has to offer. I'm just about 11 miles to downtown Nashville, about 15 minutes by car- almost all interstate so it's pretty quick except during rush hour. GOOD NEWS! A bus route to downtown has opened up to downtown just one mile from my house, and with the train- the Music City Star (the only train in the county) 2 miles away, and the newly opened LYFT car service, you can choose to be car-free! Often, both myself and nearby friends are available for ride sharing... I have several friends and family members nearby who are also opening rooms in there homes to accommodate guests. The Space1200 square feet, 2 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom townhouse. We can comfortably accommodate 2 guests. Our home is clean and comfortable. We've been living in this neighborhood since April 2014 and it has been very quiet and safe. We had the TV mounted in the guest room so guest can comfortably watch it from the bed. Guest AccessYour room: The guest room has it's own private full bathroom with towels, washclothes, and a hair dryer. There is a TV with Direct TV channels including HBO, Showtime, etc, and a DVD player. We also have WiFi. House access: We will provide you with a house key at check-in so that you may come and go as you please. Parking: Parking is free. No parking pass required. Street parking is allowed during the day until 10:00pm. After 10pm, all cars have to be moved from the street to the pool/clubhouse parking lot, which is just at the end of our sidewalk. It is a very short walk and is well lit. Pool Hours: The pool opens May 27, 2016. The hours will be 9:30am to 8:30pm everyday. We have a pool pass that opens the gate to the pool. Since we only have 1 pool pass, we ask that you leave it on the bookshelf downstairs when not in use, so everyone has access to it. There is a separate kiddie pool and a lifeguard on duty at all times. It's a very nice pool! Fitness center: It is open 24 hours. It is a small room with a few treadmills, ellipticals and stationary bikes. There is also a TV in room. It is a short walk down our sidewalk to the clubhouse to get there. The same pool pass lets you into the fitness center. Kitchen access: Guests are welcome to use the refrigerator and microwave, as well as plates, glasses, silverware etc. We have a Kuerig coffee maker, stocked with coffee pods, cream and sugar - please help yourself to a cup of coffee! Coffee mugs are directly above the coffee maker and spoons are in the drawer below. Cooking: You are welcome to use the microwave. At this time we are not able to accommodate stove top or oven cooking. Washer & dryer: We are not able to provide those amenities to our guests at this time for short term visits. However, if you are planning a long stay with us, we are happy to discuss the use of these facilities. Interaction with GuestsWe live here so you will definitely see us around the house. We both work during the week. We spend our evenings and weekends at home doing typical stuff - relaxing, watching TV, eating... Please feel free to hang out and chat with us! We make it a rule to notify guests in advance if we plan to have get-togethers, bar-b-ques, etc at the house. We take your privacy & security seriously and do not allow our friends/family to go upstairs (where the bedrooms are) if we have house-guests staying with us. The NeighborhoodWe live in Hermitage which is a suburb of Nashville, approx 5 miles from the Airport, 11 miles from downtown/Broadway and 9 miles from the Grand Ole Opry. It is a quiet area with plenty of restaurants close by. We are just down the street from The Hermitage (home of President Andrew Jackson) and literally right around the corner to Percy Priest Lake & Nashville Shores (water park). Also, an entrance to the Nashville Greenway is just 1.5 miles from the house, which is great for walking, running, bike riding, etc. Getting AroundThere is street parking in front of the townhouse for daytime parking and a large parking lot at the end of our street for overnight parking. It is possible to get around the city without a car. In addition to taxis, we have Lyft and Uber in Nashville which are usually more affordable than a taxi. Also, our home is 2 miles from the Music City Star train station. I would not recommend walking from our home to the train station since there are no sidewalks on the main roads outside of the subdivision, but if we are home we will gladly take you there. Other Things to NoteCheck in time: We are very flexible with this, however... we both work full time Monday thru Friday so evenings will most likely be the time we can meet you during the week to let you in. We will do our best to accommodate special requests so don't be afraid to ask!
