There are large, comfortable living areas, including a library for afternoon reading and napping, a gas-burning stove/fireplace, a 42" HDTV, cable, CD player, and WiFi with high-speed internet, all included. Live starfish waiting to wave and wiggle for your little ones! Speaking of little ones, do count babies and children in the guest count, as we provide so many amenities for them at Swiss Family Farmhouse, from puzzles & toys & books & movies to trikes, barn boots, and a rocking horse...They love it! Perfect for family reunions, weekend getaways, wedding parties, baking apple pies (from our trees), picking our raspberries, taking tulip field excursions, Skagit Valley bicycling, sightseeing, and antiquing in every direction! Your group will love this farmhouse for week-long vacations, writers' retreats, church and pastoral retreats, house-hunting visits, or temporary lodging for relocated executives. Here's a recent note we got from a local who booked Swiss Family Farmhouse for the groom's family from Boulder, CO: Hi Scherry, The Matthews Family enjoyed their stay at your VRBO very much. It was so comfortable, cozy and convenient. Thank you for such a great place for guests to call their home away from home! Michele The Swiss Family Farmhouse was built in 1909 by my husband's great-great uncle. When Dave's grandfather immigrated from Switzerland, he moved in with his uncle's family. After they moved to a farm next door, Grandpa started his family while running his dairy farm. He helped start the Darigold Co-op, as well as get the first Skagit River dikes built. Friends have said it feels like Grandma's house, with updates! Indeed, it is...come and enjoy! You and your children will enjoy a walk west down Dunbar Rd. to view the cattle and goats and horses on neighboring farms. And going either direction on Avon-Allen Road, you will find fabulous gardens to admire! Approximate Drive Time to Points of Interest: Downtown Mt. The SpaceThe lake is a great place to be. It smells like an old log cabin. The floor is porcelain tile. It has a covered patio with hammock during the summer months otherwise you'll find zero-gravity chairs. The lights turn on with an outdoor light switch found on the exterior of the cabin. Guest AccessUse the Kitchen but not the food or drinks. BYOF/D/D. Bring your own Food Drinks Beer. We're not locking the fridge so we're trusting you with this. If you plan on bringing more than 1 car, please park above the regular parking. There's a steep driveway up to a leveled out area that will work to use. The parking is shared with the neighbors, it's part of it is THEIR property. Note that the stairs down to the cabin may be steep for some. Railing is not complete to the cabin. The cypher door is facing the lake to gain access to the cabin. Interaction with GuestsWe might stop by to use the boat on the lake. The neighbors are pretty close. So it's not exactly secluded. But it's better than any hotel traffic. The NeighborhoodThe neighbors are close and friendly. Please don't block the road with your vehicle. Park directly across from the address sign or parallel park off the road. Local food fav's: Big Lake Bar and Grill (we like to support local however it bar food is not your fav, keep reading) down the street on HWY 9 south of the cabin. COA- Mexican eatery. Off Division street. 10 min drive from cabin. The Train Wreck- more of a drive to Burlington and a 21 and over bar, BUT the food is to die for! Breakfast burrito or the Bloody Mary breakfast-YUM! Adrift and A-Town Bistro in Anacortes. Both delicious. Not a lot on the menu so what they do offer is right on. Getting AroundIt's a quick trip to town to get groceries or great dining. Yelp is a great source and I'd say accurate for what your looking for. Other Things to NoteThere's an extra bunk house with a key code for a queen bed and dark shades. If you plan on swimming with children, please bring your own life jackets. You'll likely want to bring some floats to enjoy while in the water. We don't provide them. It's a hassle if a guest pops them and then we have to ask them to replace them. We hope you understand.

Your room has a queen bed/mattress (just upgraded from my air mattress), and a wooden desk to create your own office space. Feel free print/scan stuff you need off the printer, use my painting supplies, curl up and read a book from my library, use my washer and dryer, or just relax and watch a movie in my living room. My home is your home :) Also, very close to the Tulip Festival! The TV is not in the actual bedroom, but in the living room and it's shared with me. The SpaceSeasonal only (approx end April -mid/end October depending on the weather and the creek) at this time. Hoping to add a cute little trailer, yurt or such in the future so that we can offer lodging in the winter. Guest AccessYou are welcome to explore the creek, paths, yard, fields, barn, yard at your own risk. The horses are friendly but 'food sharks' --they can have a couple handfuls of green grass or an apple once a day from campers--use an open palm and watch the electric fence. No access to the garage building or our home. More info on the information sheet on your picnic table! Interaction with GuestsWe try hard to give our campers privacy but - we do live here :). We stay away from the camping area but you will hear and see us at times up in the yard, and around the barn with the horses. I'm available by text for any concerns or questions that come up, let us know if you need anything such as blankets, towels, extra firewood ($5-8 fee).

One full bathroom, shared with the owner. It's easy to coordinate bathroom time. There is a desk in the room with drawer space and hanging space. There is access to wireless Internet service. I seem to have quite good mobile phone service and the Internet speed is fast. You are invited to pet the cat, Sassy. She may invite you to share your lap (but it's not required). This is not a good place to stay if you are allergic to cats. Sassy sleeps in the house overnight. A closed bedroom door will ensure she doesn't try to sleep on your bed. Interaction with GuestsOn some days, I work away from the house all day, but I'm available in the morning and evening to help out with information about the area, directions to downtown amenities, maps to areas for hiking or beach walking...
