The SpaceDesigned and run by professional innkeepers. We know the area and "think of everything" for your comfort and relaxation. Guest rooms vary in price up to $199. All rooms are thoughtfully decorated with one queen or king bed, a private off-the-room bath, central heat, a/c, wifi, TV with premium channels, in-room fireplaces and quality linens and comfortable beds. Decor is restful, not fussy.. Max. occupancy per room is 3. Price depends on space and if a whirlpool tub, views. Our least expensive is $109 with queen bed and shower. Most expensive is about $179 (prices higher during NASCAR races) We have one first floor room (Room 1) for those who cannot do stairs (King bed is in Room 1). Several rooms have whirlpool tubs. Most rooms have mountain views! One Banquet Room and Wedding Garden for events, destination weddings, elopements (call innkeeper for details to book in advance). Wagner House 1889 - We feel blessed to enjoy a house full of beautiful wood moldings. The former owners renovations were careful to maintain the historic beauty while adding [hidden] modern amenities. We have hardwood floors throughout. Their first love is renovation!! They opened the house as a B&B in 1999. In your room, (included free) is a basket of snacks, waters, candies, candles, bubble bath and use of robes. Contact us directly if you wish to reserve during NASCAR since our cancellation policy and prepayment is stricter than AirBnB. Guest AccessIn addition to your private guest room and private bath, breakfast is in the dining room adjacent to the parlor. For your enjoyment, the front porch has rocking chairs; back patio and garden have easy chairs. Upstairs front porch is for every one. Room 5 has its own private balcony. Interaction with GuestsInteraction--as much or as little as you prefer. As traditional innkeepers we cook fresh breakfast daily. (Exception is business guests or state employees who may rent rooms without breakfast Sunday-Thursdays for one person). Check in is a chance to acquaint you with the Wagner House and answer any questions, such as "where can I go to dinner." Breakfast is another time we can help you with local info, maps if you need it. We'll also serve a continental breakfast delivered to your room if you prefer. Owners live on site on 3rd floor.(URL HIDDEN)Self-check in has been postponed until Airbnb also collects the sales tax which we are obligated to obtain directly from guests. We have a 99% rating from the Health Dept. The NeighborhoodWe are on the edge of a small, rural, mountain town which conjures the spirit of Elvis because most of the downtown architecture is 1940s or early 1950s. Built in the center of a 30-acre land grant, we now have a few medical buildings, the Catholic Church and a high end subdivision on acreage surrounding us. The 1889 Shingle style Victorian manor house is on 3 acres and sits on a turtle-back shaped hill all by itself. It's a 1/4 mile walk to downtown Mountain City. We are on state Rt. Hwy. 67. We are not far from Bristol Motor Speedway, the Virginia Creeper Trail, Appalachian Trail, Watauga Lake and Boone, NC (Appalachian State University). Getting AroundRural America does not offer public transportation. Our guests come by car although we can help you arrange for a rental vehicle if you prefer to fly your own plane into the Johnson County (local) airport. We have superior parking for larger vehicles and trailers if you are visiting Doe nearby Mountain Park. Other Things to NoteAs professional innkeepers we can handle your special food allergy issues (breakfast is included in our fee). We are trained to make your stay wonderful--and our guest reviews prove it. We have a guest refrigerator for your use and tea kettle with hot chocolate and tea in the dining room 24/7. For travelers missing their pets, I have a big loveable dog who lives in my office, back room, personal space and transit via the hallways. All guest room doors are kept closed at all times so all guest rooms are NOT pet friendly nor does the dog visit them. We have a central vac. system to ensure extra-clean rooms. If you'd like our air filter machine for extra allergy protection or as white noise, just ask.

The SpaceCottage is located in the back yard of our property. The cottage is one room. The cottage has a full size bed and a bunk bed (bed space for 4 people). We also have a child's cot and an adult size cot for a filth person. We have squeezed in more than 5 people before, if needed. The cottage has clean sheets and towels, along with a mini refrigerator, coffee maker, small tv (no cable or local channels), and dvd player (about a dozen or so of my favorite dvds are available). LOTS of interesting books to read. There is a window AC unit for the spring-fall and baseboard electric heat, which does a great job of keeping the cottage warm even on the coldest of nights. The bathroom is spacious and has a stand in shower, with hot and cold water. shampoo and soap provided. There is a covered deck attached to the cottage, with an outdoor sink and an outdoor shower. We have a chicken coop in the back corner of the yard with 7 chickens. We have three cats and an older dog. We have been renting the cottage out for about 7 years and enjoy meeting the wonderful people who stay with us. We are super easy going and will be sure to make you feel at ease here. All smiles - no worries. Guest AccessWifi, deck, gas grill, washer/dryer. Interaction with GuestsAs much or as little as guests prefer. The NeighborhoodWe live in Damascus, on a dead end road, with very friendly neighbors. When you arrive, simply park in the driveway and walk thru the car port and into the backyard. The cottage will be in view. Getting AroundYou are welcome to use our bikes! Other Things to NoteWe may or not be here when you arrive (we are often out hiking). Nonetheless, the cottage will be unlocked and ready for you. Simply park in the driveway (anywhere), walk thru the car port, and the cottage will be in view. No problems...

Between the Trails is a large vintage 2 story, 1900 square foot vacation rental home that sleeps 8-10 people. With 4 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, 2 dens, spacious kitchen, and backyard deck, there is plenty of room for everyone. Original hardwood floors and vintage decor help make the house inviting and comfortable. Numerous board games to play and a vintage chalkboard that takes up most of a wall upstairs. From Memorial Day to Labor Day, the large town pool with diving board and 'kiddie' area, is open and a short stroll from the house. Lots of amenities, such as--sheets, towels, charcoal grill, Wifi, A/C, fire pit, washer/dryer, TV/DVD, etc. The house is conveniently located in downtown Damascus VA, between the 34 mile Virginia Creeper Bike Trail & the Appalachian Trail. Both trails are 500 feet from the house! You are also within easy walking distance of all the restaurants, bike rentals and stores in town. Park your car & forget about it during your stay. Grab your fishing pole & head to the river that winds through Damascus. Walk or ride your bike along the tree-lined streets. Reconnect with family and friends. Or simply relax on the large deck of the house. Your visit will evoke rest, relaxation and leave you wanting to return to both Damascus & Between the Trails again! Most visitors to Damascus and Between the Trails come to ride bikes on the 34 mile VA Creeper Trail by catching a shuttle to Whitetop Mountain and then riding along the river back into town. Even though the trip is roughly 17 miles, it is mostly downhill and there are places to stop along the way to picnic, rest, grab an ice cream cone or use the restroom. It takes 3 to 5 hours, depending on how many stops one makes. The house is located between trestles 17 and 18 along the bike trail. Since the Appalachian Trail runs through town, there are day or even overnight hikes at various levels you could take. There are many opportunities to fish and even a fly fishing store in Abingdon that gives guided tours or friendly advice. You can get a local fishing license at the Food City in Damascus. There is a large playground at the town park. During the summer months (June--August), the town pool is open. A brand new visitor's center and library recently opened and there are computers available to use, if need be. The house does have WiFi if you bring your own computer. Wander down to the Old Mill for a bite to eat and to feed the ducks. In the spring you will even see many ducklings. Live music is usually heard on the weekends in various local places in town. In nearby Abingdon VA (about 20 minutes north of Damascus), there are many antique shops to visit and a wonderful, historic theater, the Barter Theater. The Abingdon winery is close by as well. Saltville VA also has a rails to trails, aptly named the Salt Trail, that is 9 miles one way. There is an Appalachian museum and a town wave pool. In Meadowview VA, there is a delicious restaurant, the Harvest Table, that serves fresh, homemade food. They support local farmers and utilize the 'farm to table' concept. Definitely make the time to eat there! There is parking for up to 5 vehicles at the house. The closest airport is located in Kingsport TN. There is no public transportation available.

Perfect for big families or small groups, this 3,000 sq ft home is private, secluded vacation home nestled in the Appalachian Mountains and the Cherokee National Forest. This peaceful small community of under 1,000 is the only valley on the famous US 421 Motorcycle Trip. Less than 30 minutes drive to many family lake activities, hiking trails, The Virginia Creeper Trail, Bristol Motor Speedway, South Holston Lake, shopping in historic Abingdon, VA and much more. Within an hour drive you can visit Boone, NC, drive the Blue Ridge Parkway or visit the mile high bridge at Grandfather Mountain. Famous for fly fishing, this area has some of the best rivers and streams for fly fishing on the east coast. The home is quite and within walking distance to a small diner and the US 421 Country Store. The home has been remodeled and provides all new bedding.Close to Damascus Virginia- Abingdon, Virginia - Boone, NC - Bristol, TN/VA - This location provides a small town feel with privacy and lots of space inside and out, while being in the center of cities with activities for everyone. 2 living rooms with fully reclining sofa's, recliners and futons. Everything you need for family fun in the mountains and lakes.. Sitting on the front porch, I am looking at the most spectacular view of the mountains. It is quite with a constant breeze through the valley. Completely surrounded by mountains, the very small community is not accustom to tourist. But I know about all 987 people in Shady Valley and may be related to most of them some way. I can see the crossroads of hwy 91 and US 421 - most popularly known to motorcyclists as "The Snake". I haven't seen a car in about 20 minutes, so i decide to walk down the road to get a biscuit at the Shady Diner. As I walk in, my niece and I are greeted with a friendly hello and prompt service. I got a egg and cheese biscuit and large coffee - and she got a chicken biscuit (real chicken) and an orange juice. We paid 6.04. There were about 5 people in there counting the 2 nice ladies that served us. Those were the best biscuits we have ever eaten! Evie Kate took a bite of mine and said, "Oh my gosh, that is the best biscuit in the world and I don't even like eggs!" Across the road, we stop in to pick up some drinks at The Shady Country Store. A favorite stop for bikers traveling the 489 curves over 3 mountains and 1 valley at the midpoint of the ride. A peaceful nap on a blanket under the two big trees this afternoon is a good idea! Evie wants the Hammock of course! There is so much to do within a hour drive of this most peaceful, secluded get away in the middle of too much to list. I may miss a lot but if you are interested in any of the following - and you enjoy nice peaceful mountain drives, here are some I can think of right now: Biking - The Virginia Creeper Trail is just about 15 minutes away. / Hiking - Just a few miles from the Appalachian Trail - well maintained trails everywhere- Back Bone Rock is only 10 minutes away - / Motorcycling - The US 421 Snake / Lake Activities at Watauga Lake or South Holston Lake / Shopping in Boone or Abingdon, VA - both of these cities offer the best of dining - shopping - music festivals - breweries - / Skiing - Sugar or Beach Mountain/ History - EVERYWHERE! Historic Sites too many to list / NASCAR -The Bristol Motor Speedway is only a 40 minute drive - half mountain -half the best route into the raceway (least traffic) / Fly Fishing - Fishing - Some of the best rivers and lakes on the East Coast - It was rumored that Brad Pitt had purchased property along the river just on the other side of the mountain, a private place for him to fly fish. The Birth Place of Country Music - / I'll sleep on it and add some more as I think of them. Shady Valley is in the middle of so much - yet so secluded and peaceful - you can get away from it all - but visit whatever you want on a day trip in any direction from the crossroads. Pick a different direction each day! Every road leads to fun!
