The SpaceAstounding southwestern water/mountain view in Clinton on the southwest shore of beautiful Whidbey Island. Gorgeous sunsets. Large windows frame the views from all of the rooms except the bathroom! We are on a hillside above the channel that connects to Cultus Bay. Herons, eagles, gulls, ospreys, hummingbirds, otters, and more delight us! Deer frequent our back yard, too, and many guests have enjoyed waking up to grazing deer outside their window. We offer you a place to stay that is not exactly a “separate unit", but is more than a private room. You will stay in the downstairs level of a 2 story house. You'll find one traditional bedroom, and a second "bedroom" that is screened off from the living area with permanently installed shoji (Japanese style wood and rice paper) screens, which may be left open or closed. This room may double as part of your living area during the day, since it is beside the kitchenette, the rocking chair and glider, and the fireplace insert. Private bathroom with tub and shower. The kitchenette/living area is modest but charming, with a refrigerator, two-burner hot-plate, a microwave, and a countertop small oven, and a small dining table for four. During the winter you may enjoy using the fireplace insert. The Ping pong table, is situated in a part of the downstairs unit where we store our own books, art supplies, music tapes, and some of our personal items. Kids might enjoy our train set, books, and art supplies. (We don't want you to be surprised that this part of the experience is not devoid of our personal effects!) The newish ( Oct 2014) outdoor deck faces water and mountains. Pick-your-own raspberries in season in our front yard. In the sprong, summer and early fall you will have your own entrance IF you are comfortable walking down a hillside either on grass, or on wood chips. If not, use the stairs inside our house, which are immediately to the left of our front door. We prefer that you use the inside staira in the late fall and winter becaise it gets slippery outside. Let us know if you want us to put up a portable screen, if you prefer that the entrance via the stairs be more private. There is a door between the two floors. We live upstairs, and will share the washer/dryer with you. If you want to do more cooking than the downstairs kitchen allows, let me know and I will schedule time for you to cook, unless I happen to be having a dinner party that day! We are just 15 minutes from the WA State Ferry in Clinton, which crosses over from Mukilteo in 15 minutes.. The drive to the ferry from Downtown Seattle is from 40 minutes to 90 minutes, depending on traffic. There may be a wait for the ferry. We MAY be able to pick you up if you aren't traveling with a car. We are 20 minutes south of Langley, a sweet seaside town. Eight-ten minute drive to Whidbey Institute. Our lot is more deep than it is wide, so please know that our home is close to our neighbors on either side, but our community is a quiet one, so hopefully you won't even notice. None of our guests have mentioned this to us as a concern. Wireless connection. Just upgraded DSL speed to 30 as of July 2 2015. Non-smokers, no pets. Daytime lounging around: we have chosen to put a regular bed in the shoji room, since it is so much more comfortable to sleep in than a pull-out couch. But this means we don't have a couch. Lounge on the bed, or in the rocking chair or glider, or on the outdoor deck in our gravity chairs or hammock! We are not a traditional B and B, and not professionals in the hospitality industry. Our pricing reflects this! We want to share our beautiful view and hospitality with you. We have registered with the State of WA and Island County as a short-term rental, so we pay taxes to support Island County's and WA State's infrastructure. Guest AccessGuests have the entire lower floor of the house, as described above. In addition, guests with children can use our neighborhood playground a short walk away, at the edge of the water. There is a lovely forest-to-beach walk near our house, taking you to Possession Point Park. There are two choices of entry to the guest space. The outdoor entrance is not ideal for people with mobility issues, and we do not recommend it during the slippery winter weather. Guests may prefer using our upstairs entrance, through our garage , a shared hallway, and down the stairs to the guest area. We recommend this entrance during the rain or snow. OR Guests may walk to the north of our house, around the side of the house on a grassy hillside, down a ramp, onto the lower deck, then into the house. This is the entrance to use IF you must use a wheelchair or walker to get there, but it is steep for wheels and so needs a strong guide. We suggest you bring a flashlight if you choose to use either entrance around the side of the house as we don't have a side light installed yet. Interaction with GuestsWe love meeting our guests, and will welcome a conversation, a cup of tea, or a walk together, if the guests would like that, and if our schedules coincide. However, we recognize that some of our guests prefer total privacy, and we honor their wishes, too. Let us know what you prefer. The NeighborhoodWe love the view from our home, and we enjoy the beach walk just a few minutes from our house. We adore the exceptional quiet in this neighborhood, the sea air, the birds, and even the deer, though they nibble at our foliage. Getting AroundA twenty minute walk to an Island Transit bus stop, which operates week-days only and is sporadic.. Taxi service is available on the island. And, we will pick you up at the ferry if our schedule allows. Make it clear, when you contact us for a reservation,if you need a pick-up. Other Things to NoteWe live upstairs, and will share the downstairs washer/dryer with you. This is our home, which we enjoy sharing with flexible airbnb guests. It is not a hotel, not a Bed and Breakfast , and not an expensive private rental with professional staff! It IS a friendly, welcoming place to stay with a gorgeous view, peaceful setting, ping pong, and plenty of board games! Look at our reviews to see if you value what previous guests have enjoyed. We look forward to meeting you!

My golf clubs are in the closet if you would like as well. Interaction with GuestsThere are times when I will be available just down the road and there may be times when I myself am traveling.
